I really loved Borat and thought it was hilarious. Bruno was in no way similar to Cohen's prior work. I'm unable to accurately describe the problems I had w/this movie because it is being edited out. But between the wall to wall graphic man-love material and the constant use of the phallus (real and fake) as props, there were a few genuinely funny moments (such as the scene in which Bruno goes to Army bootcamp). However, aside from these rare laughs, the majority of the movie was actually quite gross. It was just too over-the-top. During some of the scenes that were supposed to be funny, rather than being amused, I found myself worried about poor Bruno's safety.

No matter what people say, you cannot deny that this movie is daring. Not many people would insult Osama bin Laden in front of a terrorist. All of these things deffinately takes guts which adds to the humor. Before you watch the movie you should know that most of the time he did film it without everyone's knowledge which is what makes this film daring and funny. There are some low points in the film as with most comedies, and also I would not reccomend this film to anyone who is conservative in any way. If you cannot laugh at debatable issues around the world, do NOT watch this movie. Also it is rated R but no child should ever see this movie (watch it and you will see why ;) )

Bruno, overal, was exceptionaly funny. More of an adult comedy than anything, Bruno features the newcoming Bruno of Austria as he tries to become famous in the US. Along the way he encounters more problems than successes. Extreme nudity was included such as a full 30 second clip of a dancing "man's privates" and a swingers party in motion. Not a movie to attend with children! Overal, a funny adult comedy.

It was a funny movie, but I thought it would have more laugh out loud moments. The funniest parts were already reviewed in previews. This movie is a satire, and I don't think that a lot of people will recognize the underlying messages portrayed. After watching "Bruno" do the late night circuit to promote this movie, I was expecting it to be as quirky, funny, and unpredictable as Borat.
Regardless, Sacha Baron Cohen manages to once again expose human gullibility, stupidity, depravity, and egocentricity at its finest (and funniest) while at the same time exposing what is so very dysfunctional with the social atmosphere of many parts of this country.
Nevertheless, the movie was consistently humorous, but much raunchier and with more s-e-x-u-a-l subject matter than Borat.
In closing, I would recommend this movie to other ADULTS who want a night of good laughs, but if "alternative male lifetstyles" make you the least bit uncomfortable, you may want to choose another movie.

Borat is still one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. Naturally a hit movie such as that would be difficult to follow. I found myself laughing hysterically to the point of tears several times during Bruno, but my laughter was more out of shock at what I was seeing than actual jokes being made or real comedy being presented. A lot of Borat's appeal was due to the reactions of bystanders and the people he was interviewing. Bruno seemed too scripted to recreate the same type of comedic appeal. You will laugh. You will laugh hard. But overall, this movie is a let down.

There are points when I laughed harder than Borat. Borat made me squirm, but Bruno made me scream! It was so outlandishly hilarious and crude- lacking the subtlety of ironic humor present throughout Borat. Although it wasn't quite as successful as Borat, it made me laugh.
Of course, there were shortcomings. I saw it on opening day with a very eager crowd and even then, some of the jokes fell silent and flat in the theater. The holocaust jokes seem out of place considering this isn't a cultural satire like Borat.
In addition, the movie is incredibly short, making Disney features feel like Lord of the Rings. There wasn't more they could add? It felt a little more soulless than Borat, but still a must see.

Hey what do you expect in these kinds of films? There were some laughs. There were some shocking moments...and yes, there were some sections where you realized you hadn't laughed or been shocked in a while. Sacha Cohen is the best character comedy genius since the time Steve Martin entered entertainment. He very well may surpass all comedians in history over time with that title. As Cohen's style is known, his shock comedy pokes fun of stereotypes and brings to the surface issues that exists in real life, but which the media never ever reports the facts on (e.g. parents who will do anything to get their child famous, celeb adoptions, etc). The last time I laughed that hard at a movie was when I saw Borat. I believe I peed my pants. Definitely a movie for those who take life to seriously ... NOT!

This was definitely not as funny as I was anticipating it to be. I guess it's hard to follow a movie like Borat. I mean, it must be hard for Sacha not be recognized in public by now being as famous as he is. Don't get me wrong, Bruno was funny, crude and did send the right messages on how ridiculous people are that are haters against the G community. The movie just left me with a feeling of unsatisfaction, maybe, because I was hoping for a new catch phrase (like "very nice" from Borat) and didn't seem to come away with one. Anyone who reviews this movie and was surprised by the vulgarity wasn't paying attention to what they were going to.
It's over the top, but its the subtle moments that are the funniest, like his interview with the model, or with the celebrity charity people.
This movie rips celebrity culture, talk shows, fashion, fame, and Hollywood in addition to just homophobia. People just get distracted by the homosexuality bit and think that's all there was to it.
It's awesome. It's not a movie for kids, though.

Vulgar, Tasteless and Embarrassing!
I was dying to see what I thought would be a fantastic movie based on the trailer and was so disappointed and embarrassed since I dragged my new love to watch this with me.
There's no real storyline and, while some scenes are very funny, most are just senseless and vulgar. It's definitely a movie that will be talked about because Mr. Cohen pushes the envelope to its limit in a most distasteful manner. You should see it, but I would recommend waiting until it comes out on DVD... This movie is just not worth the money.
I liked Borat and was a fan until Bruno. : (

I laughed so hard that I started crying and then that crying quickly reached a continuous sobbing kind of laugh where i couldn't breathe. Amazing

I was looking forward to seeing this film and now that I have I'm soooo disappointed. The theater seemed to shrink in attendance from start to finish. Some of the scenes were just over the top and this is coming from someone that is far from being considered prudish. Even the parts that were funny were all ruined as they were contained in the previews that have been running for months. Total waste of money and my time last night that i"ll never be able to get back....BOO!

THE ONLY WAY YOU WILL NOT LIKE THIS MOVIE IS IF YOU ARE A DRY, BORING, UPTIGHT INDIVIDUAL WHO HAS NO SENSE OF HUMOR WHATSOEVER. THIS ALONG WITH HANGOVER ARE BY FAR THE FUNNIEST MOVIES OF THE YEAR.

Great comedy! Scenes change much quicker than Borat and don't drag on, so it moves fast and keeps you wanting more. Cohen is amazing and is great at exploiting the ignorance in our country.
