Unfortunately, I've been through a divorce w/ kids... this movie made me laugh outloud many times... clearly the people that put it together had insights into being divorced. There is much to like and enjoy in the movie. Baldwin's character is good and realistic. Meryl Streep is her usual excellent self.
In terms of things I was so-so about: Are we to believe that Streep makes enough from her bakery to live in that mansion on land in LA? Some of the scenes are a bit over-done... like the scene where Baldwin stares at Streep dancing w/ Martin while Baldwin's new wife looks on.

Nancy Meyers is either hit or miss. Her last film, The Holiday, was so well done that it hurts to watch this mess of a film. We all love the actors so everyone wants this to work. But like so many rom-coms these days, they are close but "no cigar." Why, after 10 years, does Jake give up on his marrage? Why didn't he do it 7 years earlier when Anges took off with another guy? If he is a high-powered lawyer, why does he put up with her BS? There are so many cliches that they undo the good parts like the scene of Jane and Adam at the bakery. John Krasinski is a stand out here but the kids are all one note. Watch her other movies like Father of the Bride and Baby Boom instead. This one is as silly as The Parent Trap.

Cabin fever got the better of me and it was the only movie at the theater I didn't see yet. I was expecting a 90 minute chick talk fest but it wasn't.

Average to good movie. Too much was left unsaid in the film. It should have been at least 20 minutes longer to develop the childrens characters more. Also, Steve Martin's physical humor is unmatched. This movie was great because it was full of funny but yet smart scenes. I don't like dumb comedy and this movie was anything but that. All the actors performed really well.
