I went to see this movie with my 51 year old mom as an after-Christmas treat. It was actually quite a bit funnier than I thought it would be. The writer/director has done some other movies that we both liked, and while I couldn't relate as much to this one personally, it was still worth the $8 to go see it in the theatre. Great for women, divorcees, and anyone who likes to laugh.

This is a fluffy movie with some good moments. Meryl Streep is fabulous, Steve Martin is OK, and Alec Baldwin is good. It's a light-hearted Doris Day movie updated for this time. All the characters are wealthy and employed in apparently flexible work, and not just a little suspended disbelief is required for the uber-perfect house and home of the main character, and for many of the too-contrived scenes. (Going to your bakery after a party with a date and making croissants from scratch? Really?) The story is thin, as are the characters (especially the kids). But there are some funny moments (going to your child's grad. party stoned, on a first date, anyone?) and moments of decent dialog. Save your money and wait til it comes out on DVD.

Laughed a lot, enjoyed the movie. Although today's teens are probably well aware of the affects of smoking pot, it wouldn't be a movie I would encourage them to see because of that. Otherwise, as an adult, I loved it.

This movie offers a lot to like - Humor, affairs, love and love triangles, and is accompanied by heartfelt dialog, and great acting. If you liked 'Something's Gotta Give" or "Sleepless in Seattle", you will love this one, as it's much the same, but far funnier than both. There were imes when the audience was laughing so hard, you couldn't hear the next dialog - and there were LOTS of those times. I definite 'feel good' movie.

This is one of those movies that you usually end up seeing because of a date/spouse/female friend (insert any of the above), and end up actually having a good time. The jokes and embarassing scenes made for good humor, and the acting from Glenn Close was great, Alec Baldwin's performance was so so in the beginning and better in the end. Steve Martin plays a small role, but overall it works. I would recommend seeing the movie, but not sure it is worth the full price.
