This is definitely a mature comedy. The theater was filled with mostly mature men and women and it was a pleasure to laugh out loud as a group. Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin were incredibly funny and Steve Martin was also very good. John Krasinski was a hoot as well. Well acted, no slapstick juvenile humor, and offered something with which most middle aged people can honestly relate. A must-see.

Went with 2 friends to see the movie and may have to go see it again to catch some of the dialogue that I missed because I was roaring with laughter. Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin are great! It was good to see Steve Martin in a role that gave him a more serious side.

Me and 7 other women went and laughed so hard we were hollaring in the theatre. Baldwin is one-of-a-kind and no one could have played this interesting leading lady like Streep. All the characters were interesting and charming. The story was witty and kept me very interested. Besides a couple short (SHORT) lulls in the story-line that almost kept you from believing Baldwin and Streep were really into each other (the thought quickly dissipated) - the movie was perfect and I would suggest it to anyone, man or woman of any age.

It was nice to see a movie that was actually better than the previews. That doesn't happen often. My wife and I both laughed more than we had at any movie in ages. It had its sad points, but, in general, it was a movie about how relationships proceed, and mature. Life affirming.

It was great! I have already seen it twice! If you have ever been single over 40, you can definitely relate. Very, very funny, but also, sad and moving in parts. It is great to see a hit movie with 3 top notch actors over 40. I loved each and every character. Glad to see John Krasinsky from the tv hit The Office in a supporting role. He is so adorable! I recommend this movie highly for a middle aged ladies night out. A young audience may not appreciate how realistic the primise of the movie is.

Well-crafted comedy with a good undertone of serious emotion and struggle. Excellent performances from leads Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin. John Krasinski shines in his comic role as the son-in-law to be adding just the right touch of warmth and comedic reaction to the crazy situation.
Ending was a bit of a let-down. Perhaps it was intended to interject more realism to the situation, but it just missed working for me. The scene in the swing just wasn't believable after the strong emotions throughout.
Still, would definitely recommend it for females and couples as a funny, satisfying movie experience.

Totally agree with Vams. Just misses as a hit, but still worth seeing. I heart Alec Baldwin, and he does not disappoint in this film. Meryl Streep should and will win the Golden Globe for Julie and Julia. Still a sweet little movie.

this movie was everything i expected and more. there was so much more to it than the preview showed. usually they show all the best parts in the previews, but this had little gems around every corner. i saw it with my 16 year old and would love to take my husband to see it too. perfect movie for all ages and sexes.

I really liked this movie! It was funny and Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin, and Steve Martin were great. I really liked watching the oldest daughter's fiance try to keep quiet about what he had seen. There are a couple scenes that add up to a pretty darn good movie. It was not none stop laughing but had one scene that might go down as the funniest of all time. I never laughed so hard. I really liked this movie a lot. It's not high cinema but it's incredibly funny and thoroughly enjoyable; and, it has a message. Meryl Streep, as usual, is divine.
