Haven't laughed aloud at a movie so much in a long time. Not quite My Cousin Vinny (which would be my 5 for comedies), but close. Streep is fabulous! Was a little skeptical Steve Martin could pull it off, but he did. Not great filmmaking or storyline, but fabulous entertainment and escapism. Definitely seeing it again. Note: this movie is most definitely written from the women's perspective.

Meryl, Alec and Steve are fantastic but John Krasinski made the movie for me. He reminds me of Tom Hanks during his comedy years. John doesn't look like Tom but like Tom, he can just make you laugh by standing around with a certain look on his face. Fun movie for a weekend afternoon.

Laugh out loud funny in scene after scene. Alec Baldwin is hysterical. One of us objected to a scene where the grown children acted like little children, but overall, a really great romp. John Krasinki is also good as a son-in-law in touch with his feminine side. Go see it!

First, you can't go wrong with actors like Meryl, Alec and Steve in your movie! They were excellent.
The plot was good, unwound at a great pace, and had equal parts of comedy, soft spots, and sobering moments.
The movie did a good job of relating to people in different situations: older women, single women, kids of divorced families, and divorcees. There was something for everyone.
Let me just say that one of the best parts of the movie was seeing Meryl sport the same shoes and bag throughout just about all of it! Just goes to show that you don't have to spend a ton on wardrobe (and make us regular folk feel like we have to go spend our entire paychecks to look good!)
I thouroughly enjoyed this movie!

My wife and I and our friends went to see this movie last night. I had heard it was funny, but couldn't imagine just how funny it really was. The entire theater was roaring laughing the entire time. We totally enjoyed our selves. I would highly recommend this movie, especially if you need some great laughs. The cast was perfect. They played off each other extremely well. Meryl Streep, Steve Martin, Alec Baldwin and the entire cast were super.

I am questioning the age of critics that didn't give this movie a better review. Both my husband and I really really enjoyed this movie. We got some good laughs. But, it wasn't only about laughing...it was about life. Most of the people in the theater were 50ish and seemed to really enjoy it. But when I asked the younger people if they liked it they said yes, enthusiastically. So..I very much recommend this movie.

This is one of the best films I have seen in the past three years. It treats a subject that many of us have faced or are currently facing in our lives, and does so with lots of humor and irony ... that being the challenges of bringing closure to a marriage and the letting go of any associated anger, so we can get on with our lives. I loved this movie - everyrthing was entertaining, the characters, the scenery, the kitchen, etc.!! It was great to see these older actors being willing to be their ages - I loved everyone of Meryl's wrinkles and even Alex's extra pounds. I can't wait to see this one again.

Predictable with some really hysterically funny surprises. Meryl Streep wonderfully holds it together, Alec Baldwin, perfectly cast and plays it to the hilt, Steve Martin, funny yet vulnerable. John Krasinski is terrific and steals the show. Relating as a couple, we really enjoyed this laugh-out-loud movie.

Saw this last night and I'm STILL laughing!!! This is the funniest movie I've seen in years! For just plain rolling out of your seat in side splitting laughter the only film I can think of that was on a par with this one is Blame It On Rio. I'm sorry, but I just love a smart movie. This was smart...sophisticated and HILARIOUS! Going to take my favorite lady to see it soon!!! Enjoy!!!!!!
