This was WAY smarter than your average chic flic.
The writers and actors attention to detail make this an extremely entertaining and funny exercise. Streep, Baldwin, Martin, and the future son-in-law hit the nail on the head. Streep and Baldwin have excellent chemistry. Baldwin really takes his character to the edge. He almost steals the movie with one line and one scene.
Definitely recommend to almost anyone.

Meryl Streep can make anyone look good; even Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin. Alone both are two of my least favorite actors, but Meryl brings out the strengths of both actors, while allowing you to forget some of their past work. I have not laughed as hard as I did during the Marajuana scene in this movie, as I did the last time I smoked marajuana, likely also 27 years ago. Is there any character Meryl can not portray?

What a cast! Everyone is at the top of their game is this film. I found myself laughing, but also moved at the emotional parts of the story. Anyone who's gone through a divorce as a kid will have an even deeper response. Nancy Meyers definitely has hit her stride as a writer/director. I also thought the leads were well cast, and John Krasinki's subtle humor was a great backdrop for the three leads. The scenery was gorgeous and appropriate for the richness of the story line and characters. My 2 daughters (ages 19 and 21) went with me and all three of us thought it was a wonderful move. I was a bit concerned about the nudity (face it - who wants to see "people of a certain age" without clothing), but what was shown was not offensive. Alec Baldwin's big hairy "backside" had me rolling in the aisle! Can't wait until it comes out on DVD so we can get it!

The name of the movie may be, "It's Complicated," but It's Hilarious would be a true title, as well! My girlfriend and I went to see the movie together because our husbands both said they were "all set" with seeing it. We laughed and cheered the entire time. We couldn't stop talking about it and telling our husbands about different scenes. Now we are all going back to see it together. The men will LOVE it too!

I thoroughly enjoyed this film even with it's age-old plot. The leads are perfectly cast, and are sensitive to their portrayal of these tender souls. Life keeps happening - no matter how much they want to turn back the clock, change tact or wish things were different. The journey is thoughtful and VERY funny. John Krasinski is hilarious and a good antidote to the sniffling three children. I found those roles over-acted and dopey ... and without Krasinski's comic genius to pull it all together, the film may have lost its way. Great writing directing. See it.
