Well, it started out great. Wonderful visuals. But even all my favorite actors can't save this one. I didn't expect sci-fi to this extent. It was hard to piece together what actually was happening. I liked the beginning and didn't really expect the end. I'm just such a fan of Frank Langella I couldn't pass it up. I'd consider waiting for the video unless, like me, you like sitting in a dark theater with popcorn.

The movie was absolutely atrocious. I wish I could get my money back for every deplorable movie made by top ranked actors. Half an hour into the movie I wished I had a nose bleed. This movie was extremely slow moving and never really gained momentum. Eventually, I fell asleep after 40 minutes and regained consciousness at the very end. If you are in dire need of a nap then this movie is for you.

Star-quality actors all not acting so well. Great premise poorly presented. The first 30 minutes had me intrigued ...and then it all just began fizzling away. This sci-fi karma movie would have made a fine Outer Limits episode in "days of yore". Someone decided they could stretch the concept out into a nearly 2 hour movie. Uh-oh....big boo boo! It gets 2 stars (instead of 1) because of the premise, first 30 minutes and some interesting visuals. Rent it in 2 months so you can speed through the slow, redundant parts....of which there are many.

okay, so trying to make a two hour movie out of a 15 minute twilight zone show just doesn't work. I did enjoy Donnie Darko, but this movie just left me confused when I left the theater. It starts off pretty well and builds itself up to be a suspenseful and interesting movie, but somewhere around an hour into the movie it starts getting really weird. I would recommend if you want to see this movie, wait for this movie to come out on dvd and redbox it, I had better expectations for this movie but it fell short.

The Box "creeped me out" and I'm not easily frightened. Frank Langella did it to me much the same way as Boris Karloff used to scare thousands. In my opinion, The Box is not really a morality play. It's a play about making a pact with the devil for financial gain rather than for immortalily. There is a lot of chemestry between Diaz and Marsden and they are very convincing in their roles of upper class professionals who find that they are living somewhat beyond their means. That's when the trouble starts.... I can't recommed the movie because I found it somewhat disturbing rather than entertaining.

Anyone who sees the trailer or advertisements probably expects a typical horror film. After all a disfigured Frank Langella showing up at your doorstep is right out of the Stephen King playbook.
But what we are seeing is a horror style beginning morphing into sci-fi about midway through the movie. If you don't like sci-fi you shouldn't see the movie.
The fact is as sci-fi flicks go this wasn't too bad. It was original and contained some nasty little twists and surprises to keep us interested.
Yes it went a little slow but that was more than compensated for by the good cast including creepy Frank, always watchable Cameron and some welcome chemistry between Diaz/Mardsen that went a long way.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This movie is a great lesson, presented in a highly entertaining and captivating way – and, boy, am I glad I don't have to learn this lesson through a situation in my own life! This movie will reel you in at the beginning and raise your expectations before letting you down in a big way. The premise and proposition are interesting and the setup is well crafted, but then the story unravels and what's revealed lacks sufficient substance to satisfy. You will, however, be treated to pretty good acting, alien technology, and creepy mind control scenes reminiscent of 70s sci-fi films. See it only if you're in the mood to get a sci-fi fix, just don't expect much.

The idea for this movie was interesting.Would you push a button that would kill someone you don't know for 1 million dollars? But the movie left to many questions unanswered. I thought several of the audiance fiddling with their cell phones was more entertaining. The acting was ok but nothing to praise. I could care less if their son could see and hear or not at the end. (I didn't call spoiler alert because I don't think this movie could get any more spoiled). The commercials were good.

Do not see the movie "THE BOX". It is the dumbest movie ever created and you will waste 2 hours of your life. You will never get this time back. Don't wait for it on DVD. Don't watch it on HBO. I can certainly understand why people didn't like this movie. It was a little slow moving and you have to like the Twilight Zone and Science Fiction stuff to enjoy this movie. But this movie kept me on the edge of my seat and this movie really has a great underlying message. This movie is not for everyone and I'd probably recommend waiting for DVD for this one. But - if you're in the mood for an interesting and different Sci-Fi thriller, I would say to check it out!

This movie is amazing if you have ever taken a course on Ethics or Philosophy. Younger children will not understand the themes and will not appreciate the film for how truly insightful it is so I would not suggest bringing your kids. Be prepared to think. I have seen some really lame movies and bad acting in my day...but "The Box" should receive an Academy Award for the biggest waist of time. Did Cameron Diaz owe someone a favor? It's difficult to talk about this movie without spoiling it. If you like SciFi and otherworldly movies, stuff like LOST HIGHWAY, THE LAST WAVE, A PURE FORMALITY. The premise was interesting. How could it go so terribly wrong? I feel sorry for the actors. Worst movie since The Fountain, but at least I sat the whole way through that disaster. I had to leave the Box early. Total garbage.
