I dragged my husband to see this movie because I was in the mood to see something lighthearted and fun. No disappointments there - and my husband thoroughly enjoyed it as well! Although we were surrounded by mainly teen age girls (no surprise), this movie has multi-generational appeal on several levels and for different reasons. Funny, interesting characters and a touching (although not original) plot.

ifelt this movie would be the same old same old teeny bopper movie. i delayed going see it. my daughter in law talked me into taking her and boy was i surprised. it was the same old story but something about the story, acting, and just the move in general stood out. what a surprise. well worth the watch--delightful,funny,and entertaining.

I was actually dragged to this movie by a friend that's a girl, I wasn't altogether optimistic but I went anyways. It turned out to be funny, and had little twists all throughout it. So again, I walked in thinking it was gonna be just another chick flick and came out actually laughing. I enjoyed it!

This movie really delivered in all ways. Funny, emotional, charming for the girls and also a tug of war bravado of a guys ego for the guys. (Also, subtle lessons of how a girl should be treated to what it means to do the right thing as a guy, was nice too). I took my 12 yr old and her friend and saw many junior high kids there, guys and girls. I think Zac Efron is a great actor and is very reminiscent of a young Johnny Depp.... Great movie all around....

Thought this would be a good show for the family. If you've seen 13 Going On 30 (Jennifer Garner) then you have seen this one too, just different gender roles. If you are a Efron fan by all means go see it.....if you like a good movie go elsewhere ; ) Save your $ and go rent 13 Going On 30 if you haven't seen it...the sound track is better if nothing else.

While the plot is cliche, my friends and I appeared at the midnight showing of 17 Again, clad in "I <3 Zac" attire and huge smiles on our faces. We knew that the movie we were going to see was going to cater our superficial desires to watch a gorgeous Zac Efron for 2 hours; however...
Zac's acting was superb! Everyone in the theater (which seemed to be between the ages of 15 and 23) seemed impressed by his ability to portray a 40-yr. old father! We all laughed at the puns that seemed pointed towards Zac's previous roles, such as when Zac says to his preggo girlfriend "We're in this together."
In summary, seeing this movie is a win-win situation: watch Zac's great performance, and also lose 10 pounds from laughing so hard! :)

This was a fairly cute movie for kids in many ways, but what I made SURE the 13 and 15 year old girl I took thought about when we left was that the main male character was a TERRIBLE dad and bad husband for 18 years and then the wife, who had GIVEN her life, was expected to remain sweet and instantly forgive, which, of course, is what she did.
Too much compassion for bad male behavior and too many expectations of positive/neutral behavior required of female behavior.

Forget all the negative reviews the critics gave this. Its a hoot. The basic plot isn't new. A man gets a second chance to live his life over as his teen self and tries to get it right. But what makes the film work are a combination of personalities and situations. His best friend is the uber nerd turned billionaire, free to indulge his most extreme fantasies like wearing Vulcan pointy ears or a cloak of invisibility at the most inappropriate times. And somehow the timing works. Efron seamlessly becomes Matt Perry. But its his interaction with his teenage kids that is the focus of the story. The lessons he learns from being there with them save both them and in the end him.
Its better than you'd expect for both adults and kids!

I went to see this with my friend and her mom. We wanted to see from the moment we saw the previews. We were expecting it to be good, but it was fantastic. It was funny and the message was good. The thing is, they made it like a high school theme. There were some parts like giving the condims to the students and his speech, that were unnessary. I hate zac efron, but I have to say, he was really good in this movie. He played the charecter great. They have some lauguage that was a little too much. The movie was hilarious and worth seeing over and over. I saw it two days in a row it was that good.

This was a GREAT movie! It had a really good message. I enjoyed it more than my 10 and 12 year children. It is really funny in many parts. Just an all around GREAT movie!

Great performances! I must say that they could have done so much more with this movie. For instance, they could have had some of the characters interrelate from the past..like the principal, Scar's date, or even the boyfriend of the daughter. They should have made the characters kids or adults from the past. I was thinking somewhere they were going to add about the basketball teammate as one of the futuristic characters because they kept paning him at the beginning. Otherwise, great storyline. Just enough to be PG-13. Gotta love it! A blast from the past...reminded me of high school and then some!

For what it is, I give it five stars. Cute, funny, and sweet. I enjoyed it at least as much as my teenaged daughter. Definitely a PG13 for some of the language and behavior. Zac Efron was GREAT!
