This is one of the most compelling and beautiful movies I've seen all year. Javier Beltran is superb in the role of Lorca, and Pattinson deftly handles the difficult role of Dali. The role of Marina Gatell as Magdalena should not be underestimated, and she lends a subtle nobility to the overall texture of the story. But in the end, the acting fades into the background, and one finds oneself -- like the swimming lovers so beautifully photographed -- deeply immersed in the waters of human life.

found other characters more plausible; their passion was palpable. rob, meh! his accent, or lack thereof, meh! wait! matthew's BRITISH?!? WOW! then he played the absolute H*CK outta that character! thought he WAS spanish! AWESOME job! story line, huh? don’t feel more knowledgeable about ANY of the characters from watching this movie. if rob & javier are hetero (don't know, don't care), it showed in their lackluster homoerotic scenes. ACT, people! tis what u r paid 2 do! rob, LUV u in twilight, lookg forward 2 seeing u in how to be; hope that u r honing ur skills, sweetie, because i can see that u have a LOT of talent! much luv! javier & matthew, KUDOS! will purchase the dvd, rewatch a few times, & hopefully gain more from rob's performance.

I was happy to see the movie as Roberr Pattinson was in it. I left the theatre not satisfied though. He was good but the hype wasn't what I thought it would be. He kept saying about all the nudity he went through making it. I thought it was a sad love story. I will try and get the DVD of it though to watch it again. I would recommend it because of Robert.

As a subscriber to the Here! Network, a premium cable channel primarily directed to a male audience, I was pleased to see one of their films released to the general public in a theatre. While I felt the Dali character was flat and clownish, the portrayals of Luis Bunuel and Federico Garcia Llorca were well done. As others have noted, the film gave us a much deeper portrait of Garica Llorca than of Dali. Definitely worthwhile seeing for all audiences.

This film is very delicate. The characters are soulful and scenes are breathtaking. Beltran is beyond expectation and Pattinson definitely breaks the ice.

I went to see the movie primarily because I'm a Rob Pattinson fan and wanted to see him in a different role. I was a little leery after I read the synopsis and watched the trailer, but I was quite surprised and pleased by the movie. The story was gut-wrenching and compelling, the acting was excellent, and the directing, editing, cinematography, and costume design were superior. The movie was not only a glimpse into the events and mood of the times, it carried a message still relevant today. I walked out feeling empathy for any person who has to struggle with the decision of whether or not they should deny who they are, what they desire, and/or what they believe.

This is not a movie about Salvidor Dali, but a film about Federico Garcia Lorca. Trust me when I say this is good news. It is however, a film about a producer that booked an actor before making a tween film called Twilight and how this helped market his movie more than he could have ever hoped for. Javier Beltran gives a layered, deeply present performance, while poor Pattinson is having to play an underwritten Dali without the depth to fill in the holes. It's not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I left the theater loving and wanting to know more about Federico Garcia Lorca while caring nothing about Dali. It's a film about Lorca that is given a heart and soul by Javier Beltran. Bravo, Mr. Beltran.

I truly loved this movie, I experienced every range of motion, from them falling in love, to frustration, rejection, desperation, heartbreak, joy, hate (from RP i am still shocked), sadness and finally sorrow. This is such a great performance by extrordinary amazing actors. I was such an unbeliveable experience. I recommend it to everyone. You will be truly amazed by the performances. Won't give much away I don't want to spoil it for other people who have not seen it.

I enjoyed this film immensely and have already told many to see it! A period piece with art, culture, tormented romance and passion for life & justice, it had all. Being a huge fan of Dali and familiar with Lorca & Bunel, I did not know Lorca's fate or the relationship between he & Dali. It was beautiful, sad & oddly not unpredicatble that society's pressures would keep them apart. The cinematography was oustanding as well as the acting. Bravo!

The real reasons why I went to see this movie in the first place was because Salvador Dali is my all time fav. artist, and I also love Rob Pattinson and Javier Beltran. But imagine my surprise when this movie turned out to be all kinds of awesome smashed together in such an incredible and striking way... The movie was fantastic: acting, directing, music, photography, costume design... everything was very very good!! I loved it... and I am so going to see it again! =]
