The first chipmunks movie was enjoyable, but this one really fell flat. I was disappointed and expected more laughs. This one had less music and fewer laughs. Even the poster looked similiar to the first one.
I didn't expect this to be great and the children, aged 8 and 9, enjoyed it. They could have done much more with the female chipmunks and added a new villian.

The kids really enjoyed, but personally, I think this should have gone straight to DVD. Not worth the money to see it in the theater. Better off just buying it on DVD and letting the kids watch it at home or in the car.

Brought a 5, 7, and 9-year-old to this movie. The younger ones lost interest about 2/3's of the way through. The 9-year-old enjoyed it. There were only about two or three laugh out loud moments in the movie -- and kind of weak ones at that. Worth it for maybe an 8-11 year old but that's about it. Chipmunks were adorable of course, plot pretty lame, and acting was just about passable.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
