I will admit I am an Iron Man fan. (Not a fan-boy, but just a fan. I have one Iron Man action figure and it sits on my desk at my big-boy job. I also don't live with my parents.)
Sorry, back to my point, I'm a fan...and I have the first Iron Man movie to thank for that. It completely re-initialized my respect for the character and the franchise in general.
That being said, Iron Man 2 was EXACTLY WHAT I WAS HOPING FOR. Edgy concepts like Tony's alcoholism, new actors that ADDED to the characterization of the movie without overpowering it. Multiple layers of conflict for Stark, both personally and professionally. I had some fears going into this one because I want it to succeed, but those were all laid to rest with in the first four minutes and then buried for the next two hours.
That all being said, I personally disagree with some movie critics who say this movie has too much of a "Transformers" feel to it. Yes there is a lot of metal crunching, bad-guy munching action in it. And the flight sequences are high-paced and action packed. However this does NOT cause the shaky-camera mounted to Optimus Prime's knee while tangoing on the sun effect that most of the Transformer movies suffer from. Those seem WAY to busy, but Iron Man 2 settles into a nice groove and sticks with it. Besides, it's a movie about dudes in metal suits fighting each other. What kind of sound and visual effects were they expecting? An old time car horns and rainbows??
Go see it. It's Iron Man 2 for God's sake. What are you saving your summer blockbuster money for? Marmaduke??

I went with two friends who had not seen the 1st film and they were able to follow it as well as enjoy the film.
I thought the movie was much better then the first. There was a lot of character development and plenty of action. I was in awe of the technology and the banter with the Tony Stark character was funny.

(I wish I could give this movie 4 1/2 stars) This movie was just as entertaining and exciting as the original. It is only as good as the original because there was alot of build up (maybe too much), but the wait was worth it each time. The only real knock I have on this film is Mickey Rourke, the villian, was barely in the film. And, before you jumped down my throat I realize that like the first one, Stark's worst enemy is himself. I just thought maybe there would be more of clear antagonist, thats all. All that being said go see the film; and wait through the 7 minutes of credits for an awesome surprise for nerds and geeks out there.

Iron Man 2 was a very exciting film to watch. With that said however, I agree with an earlier review, Hammer had way to much screen time. Would have liked to see more slow motion fighting action, but the actions scenes that were there are great, no they they were incredible. With the CGI available today, I would swear this stuff is real! I will watch it again!

This movie was great! I would recommend it to anyone! My son and I went to the premier and Robert Downey Jr. was awsome. I enjoyed this as much as the first one. The movie overall is decent, but there seemed to be a lot of "holes" throughout the story. Who is Agent Romanoff/Black Widow? Why not go more into Whiplash's background? The special effects are great and the acting is good, but let's have more Iron Man and less Tony Stark. The second entry into the Iron Man franchise fails to disappoint and is consistently good through out. It feels more like a comic book story than the original. The writing is nice and the story builds to two good, although short action scenes.
I found it very refreshing to see pacing take proceed over explosions. Take a lesson Michael Bay.

Iron Man 2 lives up to the hype and hits you with plenty of action, witty dialogue and a cast of actors who perform marvelously. I went to the midnight premiere and sat in a packed house. The audience was mostly college students and the whole center section of the theater was made up of engineering students and comic book fans, so we applauded at every technological marvel and awesome sequence. It has the right mix of action, comic relief and devious villains. Mickey Rourke does a great job as Ivan Venko and Scarlett Johansson makes a great superheroine. Don Cheadle also does a better job as Lt. Col. Rhodes and really plays the part. I'm definitely going to see it again!

Interesting perspective on how to progress the story - I was so unsure. Good action, great effects! Hammer character and Scarlett's character were a little unbelievable and felt thrown in in spots. Overall though, great movie!

This movie was a great blend of character development and character action and exposition. It's a fine line that action movies walk when they decide to fully create characters, rather than stick with a flat, one-dimensional character. But Iron Man 2 perfectly navigates that balance. You get those rare, heart-breaking character moments, AND lots of explosions.
Robert Downey Jr reprises the role well - he adds a little more onto the character. Tony Stark develops in a logical way without becoming boring. Pepper Potts remains as adorable as ever (with a few hints of badassery every so often). I was surprised, but I genuinely enjoyed ScarJo in this as well. She's great as a superhero character, and it was amazingly refreshing to have a female character in a hero film that didn't become a love interest. Mickey Roarke definitely wins the "Cool Guys Don't Look At Explosions" award.
Personally, I loved all of the references to the upcoming Avengers plot-lines. They were woven in subtly enough as not to be obvious or obnoxious but they also weren't too obscure.

This movie was awesome! Plain and simple, just awesome! Some of the acting was a little corny (Sam Rockwell) but Robert Downey Jr. was indeed Tony "narcissist" Stark 100% Scarlett Johansson's performance was great as a "kick-ass" piece of eye-candy but I was not overly excited about her acting in the movie, but then again she wasn't wearing leather outfits showing every possible curve to show off her acting so I'm not gonna complain. The story line was great and pretty close to the comic series. Obviously some things had to be changed and or cut out but you got the story line. Ohh and the Special Effects!!! WHAT!!!! I couldn't see this movie in IMAX because it was sold out but I will most definitely be seeing this movie in IMAX very soon! In short if you love the Iron Man franchise, beautiful kick-ass babes, explosions, amazing technology (I so want everything he has in this movie,) wicked looking bad guys or any of the million other awesome things about movies like this, I HIGHLY recommend seeing this movie a few times!!!

An excellent movie!! I went to the midnight showing and it was packed and the movie didn't disappoint. The action was incredible, the dialogue was witty, and the cast was outstanding. I do not read the Iron Man comic, so I am not familiar with all of the characters in the movie, but I know a great movie when I see one. This is it. I will be seeing it at least 2 more times.

I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this movie. I can't think of a single thing I would change. I was a little surprised at the length of the final fight scene, but it was still epic, as expected. Stan Lee and Favreau have created another hit!

I have to say, I'm a huge Marvel geek and damn proud of it, so I know a lot of the history between Whiplash and Iron Man. Though the movie changed a few things around and maybe a name or two, at it's core the movie kept to the comic and that made me happy. Was not too happy about about the way Tony uses Cappy's shield, lol, but still good. Jon Favreau did what he does best, take a movie to the next level. There were many comedic elements to the movie as well, which is fine, however, I would have liked to see a bit more drama concerning Tony's alcoholism. Which inevitably leads to the real birth of War Machine. Surprisingly, Scarlett Johansson played a wonderful Black widow (way to kick ass), but I was disappointed with her lack of a Russian accent. Sam Jackson's role as Nick Fury was a bit upsetting. Ncik Fury is a much more gritty and heavily serious character, although he does from time to time have a little sarcasm to his tone, he should never be played as a comedic role to lighten the mood set by the rest of the movie...especially the Iron Man movies seeing as they already have a large comedic base thanks to the brilliant acting done by Robert Downey Jr. Once again he nailed the "tin can's" persona on the head. At this point, in my mind he is cemented as Tony Stark. Come the Avenger movie, should anyone else be cast to play the "metal head" I will be severely disappointed. Even though Terrance Howard played a good James Rhodes, Don Cheadle's performace was exceptional. I thought he and Robert Downey Jr.played very well off each other. They truly made me believe they had been long time friends whether on opposite sides or both playing for the home team. All in all the movie was a success and I would def recommend everyone to see this film. SPOILER ALERT. STOP READING IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW MORE: I was particularly happy with the scene after the credits....I'm sure you can tell by my nickname why.

Iron Man 2 was better than part 1, however, I felt that it took an unfavorable amount of time to build things up. That being said when the action did take place it was excellent. The movie was also very funny, but not as funny as you might expect.

Best Superhero movie yet! The action was non-stop, the story well written/performed, the cast was a natural fit! Marvel has really outdone itself on this one! I feel the sub-plot of The Avengers was handled perfectly! For those that feared that Iron Man would be a trailer for The Avengers were way off. A little bit more than just a few subtle mentions, but just light enough to keep the spotlight on Iron Man. I HIGHLY recommend Iron Man II !!!!

This movies was completely better than the original. It continues the storyline of the upcoming movies and gave more identity to the other Iron Man characters. I definitely am buying the Blue Ray!!

Also, stay after the credits! There is a 'spoiler' after the credits.... Well worth it!

The fight scenes and special effects are amazing in this movie. Just all around good showmanship.

What can I say, Wow. They had all aspects of the Demon in the Bottle story, Justin Hammer, Ivan and Black Widow were all Fantastic. This movie had me on the edge of my seat the whole time! I'm sure people will say the end of the film was where the most action was. But I totally disagree, the movie is building towards something and its Bigger than Iron Man 2!! I will definitely see again, Oh and make sure you stay after the credits. You will be rewarded greatly :-)
