There was an overload of corny parts and portions that could have been saved for the DVD deleted scenes, particularly, "the party" scene.
Personally I liked the story line better in IM1. IM2 was extremely predictable or my intuition was really high after 12:00 a.m. this morning.
The first action scene was incredible and explosive and not so predictable. It was the only thing that really had me on the edge of my seat.
On a scale of 1-5/A-E, I give it a 4/B...I like the punchline humor and Robert Downey Jr., especially when he suits up; as IM or his impeccable taste in clothes as Tony Stark! I've always enjoyed how cool or savior faire the character was even in cartoons 40+ years ago.

Typically, sequels have a stigma for being less-than-entertaining knockoffs of the original film. This is not the case with Iron Man 2. Marvel took the Iron Man character and developed the "multi-factedness" of Tony Stark. Stark faced real human dilemmas ranging from daddy issues, to love vs lust, to even his own mortality. Marvel's casting ability also continues to be spot-on, and you hardly noticed that Rhodey was played by a different character this go-around. As to be expected, there were plenty of inferences to upcoming Marvel films...that's films, plural...stay for the credits. The plot was entertaining (especially considering I was in the midnight showing). There were very few lulls in the plot. Of course, when you have George Lucas' Industrial Light and Magic doing the graphics and Skywalker Sound doing the audio, you know you're in for a treat - and you'd be correct. Graphically, the envelope was pushed (as expected). War Machine and S.H.I.E.L.D played key roles in the film, and marvel did a very good job of intertwining the characters together. This is a movie you need to see in the theaters; the big screen does the movie justice. Go see the movie!

Robert Downey Jr. plays a fantastic role in both of the Iron Man movies. He just has the charisma that makes the character more intriguing and hilarious. I like how they play down the ego of Hammer when they make him look like a jackass when he tries to be "cool". For a man to be able to be super smart like Tony, as well as being confident (in his case narcissistic), its almost like he's just the coolest guy on the planet, other than his personality disorders.
I thought it would have been awesome if Scarlett ended up with Tony, but she was a good foil to the romantic tension between Tony and Pepper. She was so hot in this movie as she always is and to top it off she kicked butt and took a lot of names.

Hands down Iron Man 2 was fantastic. The acting was fantastic throughout. I was especially impressed by how well Rourke played Vanko and by how well Cheadle did replacing Terrence Howard. The action scenes were fantastic, but that was never in doubt. The movie did a great job of staying true to the roots of the plot while still being interesting and understandable to anyone. Humor was blended in very well and many clever allusions to Avengers were spred throughout for any comic book afficianado. Also, Scarlett was great, and added very well to the movie. Better than the first and I recommend it.

Jon Favreau proves once again that he is the MAN to direct/oversee this franchise--I can't believe the studio nearly passed up on him to direct the sequel! Favreau's newest creation of Iron Man shows that he has a clear understanding and love for this comic--unlike some directors out there...
Storyline is great--somewhat touches on the "Demon in a Bottle" comic series and delivers with loads of comedy and plenty of action. IM2 is well on par with IM1--and then some.
Downey delivers once again, Johansson is smoking, Avenger references are made (ps-marvel fans stick around for the end of the credits), and after last summer's blockbuster disappointments...IM2 is the pick me up you need to reassure you that comic book movie adaptations are still worth seeing.

Iron Man 2 had great special effects and was very visually stimulating. It didn't drag and didn't feel long (I wish Avatar would have tried to simulate this feature). However the story was not much different from Iron Man. The story works and is entertaining, but in no way is it original. If you like action, you'll like this movie, but don't go expecting a life changing epiphany from the story behind the big beefy special effects.

I'm going to be completely honest - the first movie was absolute crap. I absolutely hated it, and the only reason I went to go see the sequel at midnight release was because I was invited by my friends right after coming home from college, so it was a perfect opportunity to spend quality time with them.
Needless to say, I was blown away by how much better it was than its predecessor. Iron Man 2 is high on my recommendation list for its intense action and much better (and less corny) storyline. Sure it still had the "bad guy invents new robot, Stark destroys robot" stereotype, but it managed to keep you at the edge of your seat unlike the first movie.
I must say "well done" to Jon Favreau. He really pulled out something great with this movie.

Saw this last night directly following Ironman as a double feature.
It's just as awesome as the first. Downey rocks as Stark. Paltrow was way more assertive this time around. Rourke always kinda scares me so he didn't disappoint as the bad guy.
The one slight disappointment was the replacement of Terrance Howard by Don Cheadle. He did a good job, but it was just different.
Anyway, HUGE thumbs up! I plan to see it again! =)

I would give this movie a 3.5 stars if I could. As all sequels made these days seem to fall short of the first movie made in the series, Iron Man 2 is no exception. It was fun to watch, but left me feeling they missed out on a big part of Tony Stark's character - his wit. And I may be saying this because I watched Iron Man 1 in the theater directly before Iron Man 2 so comparing the two is a little easier. There were a few moments that made you chuckle, but for the most part you sit silent in the theater. They weren't as great at explaining newer characters or plot schematics. However there were great action scenes, and I like that they played on the dynamics between Pepper and Tony - though I still think they could have done a better job. ScarJo was pretty cool, and Mickey Rourke was kinda hard to understand during most of the movie. Was not impressed with Don Cheadle's interpretation of Rhoades. Very flat. Undynamic. And Sam Rockwell needed to to work on his characterization a bit more as well. One minute his character is this, the next minute it was that. I dont' know. Hollywood tried, and trust me it could have been worse that it actually was. Just be sure to stay after the credits for a short continuance of the story!!

I thoroughly enjoyed Iron Man 2. I went last night to see Iron Man followed by Iron Man 2 so with the two movies juxtaposed as such, I was really able to see the heavier tone that the second movie takes. Stark must face the nearness of his own demise and his extreme narcissism doesn't allow him to grapple with this looming possibility very well. All the while, he must deal with a government trying to steal his design and a brilliant but maniacal Russian seeking revenge for his wronged father.
I admit that I was sad to see that Rhodey was replaced (actor Terrence Howard was replaced by Don Cheadle in the second film) but Cheadle gave a depth of character to Rhodes that really emanated more than I think Howard could have given the character's progression.
The big flaw I found with the film is the choice of actor for Ivan Vanko. It's not that Rourke didn't play his part well, it's just that I couldn't stop thinking about how ugly and greasy Rourke is now (not the character, but Rourke himself.) May sound childish, but it took away from the film as it kept bringing me back to reality and separating the actor from the character in my mind.
All in all a great action packed movie that had it's funny points to lighten up the dark underlying story. Oh, and Agent Romanoff kicks butt!

Iron Man 2 was a great sequel. It had all the great elements from the first movie and plenty of hints towards the Avengers movie. I highly recommend it if you enjoyed the first movie.

Robert Downey Jr plays the role of conflicted, genius, narcissist as awesome as ever! Presence of the SHIELD is also fun - Definitely a guy movie with lots of explosions and fights.. but I'm a chick and I LOVED it... There is definitely something for everyone.

Watching the previews, I got all excited for a "badass" movie. Sadly, the battle scenes were over far too quickly. I would have preferred for more explosions and combat with the Mark IV and War Machine suits.

Without giving much of the plot away, I will simply say that Iron Man 2 is a worthy sequel to the 2008 movie. It's packed with action, emotion, charisma, and one of the coolest fight scenes you may ever see with Scarlett Johansson involved. Final decision? Go see it in the IMAX Experience. It's well worth the ticket price for the entertainment you'll be getting with it. Thankfully, it isn't in 3D.

Maybe, it's just me but I don't think the film lived up to the hype. Don't get me wrong, the movie is not bad but I think it doesn't compare to the first Iron Man. I feel as if the story is what was lacking. The positive is that the action and CGI was first rate. I would still recommend the film.
