There are inevitable comparisons to the first one. Here's mine: It's louder, angrier, scarier, funnier, more action-packed, and maybe just a tiny bit better than the first one.
Great comic-book characters brought to life by some marvelous actors. A few of my favorites in this film: Scarlett Johansson, Mickey Rourke, and Garry Shandling.
Best line: (Something close to this) "It was your fault. I'm just saying that I'm sorry."
Credit I noticed with a bit of confusion: Inflatable Crowd Supervisor. Apparently these are getting more common nowadays in films.
Stay for the end to find the second of two Avengers Movie non-person-pre-cameos.
Great film - great soundtrack too. I think I have to see it again.

Jon Favreau knows how to make a comic book movie. His great contribution to the series is his respect for the original work and the fans. When things are changed from canon it is a good change, a change that makes sense, and a change with a purpose other than some producer somewhere along the lines thinking it would be cool. Iron Man 2 makes changes to the original stories, but it does it well and with only one or two sore points that will need to be addressed in the next movie to keep true fans heads from exploding. However, even those outstanding issues do not take away from the fun that is Iron Man 2.

Sequels rarely win me over but they did a good job on this one, it's got all the effects that make it amazing without relying completely on them and not actually writing a story. I liked the villain a lot regardless of the fact that he is a combination of two villains from the comic books, for once they didn't put too many villains in at a time and he was also a compelling character. Pretty kick ass! Make sure you wait till after ALL of the credits are over for a little extra somethin-somethin.

The movie exceeded the first of its franchise. The plot was very interesting. Dialogue was very intelligent and funny. Whether or not the science behind is true or not is besides the point. Its a movie, fantasy. Its not supposed to be real. Who wants to go to a movie and see something that can be seen on discovery channel?
It was fun. Alot of action, but not so much violence that my son cant watch it. RDJ was amazing. Mickey Rourke played an awesome villian. He was just cool. Not since Heath Ledgers Joker have we seen a villian with a swagger.
It was great and Id go see it again and buy the movie...

Iron Man 2 is a really fun, entertaining, funny, action-packed movie. Director Jon Favreau has taken the second installment of this franchise and turned it up to 11!
The result is a big, blockbuster summer film.
Don't think though that this is just all flash and no substance -- on the contrary. Robert Downey, Jr's performance as Tony Stark is amazing. He has perfected the character so well that you forget he's just an actor performing lines. The same goes for Sam Rockwell and Mickey Rourke. Great performances that are executed almost flawlessly.
But let's not forget the heart of Iron Man, the action. While there seemed to be a lot more character development and storytelling than you'd think for a movie like this, when the action happens, it's very intense and very satisfying.
Very well done visual effects make the film's story believable and realistic, never really taking you out of the story.
I highly recommend this film as it is such a good time that you can't help but love it. Make sure you stay til after the credits if you're a comic book / Avengers fan for a nice little easter egg of what's to come next.
And go see Iron Man 2. It ROCKS!

Iron Man 2 was just awesome, an ideal sequel to follow the introduction movie. Robert Downey, Jr. once again embraces the iconic role of Tony Stark and the rest of the cast did an amazing job. There were a few questionable one-liners, but don't let those keep you from enjoying the best movie in May so far.

This is definitely a "go-see" movie. The action is quite breath-taking (it isn't Avatar breath-taking but, still pretty awesome) and the visuals were a little surprising at times. The plot line, however, was not the plot line that most comic book viewers would like. Aside from that, this is definitely an A+ movie, and I recommend that you all watch it.

I dug the the first Iron Man film, flawed as it was, because I expected a pretty looking film and nothing more. The plot wasn't genius; but the flight scenes alone were worth the ticket for me. With this sequel I wasn't expecting anything more: serviceable plot with fights and explosions, pretty graphics with pretty women. Guess what? I'm wasn't disappointed. I could complain that there was a lot less violent action in this picture to please my testosterone; but, the winks and nods at typical guy pleasures carried me. Most of what's on screen has nothing to do with guns and fists. Most of the action here is macho posturing with glances toward topics like promiscuity, alcoholism and loyalty. Favreau does an excellent job of keeping the audience in on the jokes while not focusing on them. When the guns finally come out in act three the shoot their wad pretty quick, with a little flourish. All told, there's more than a meal here for anyone who enjoyed the first film. If you don't have a nerdgasm you'll at least be entertained. I'm not sure this flick has as much to offer straight females as does does for straight males, unless they really love Downey or Rouke. The target here is unflinchingly the adolescent male in all of us, with no art clutter or intellectual bamboozling. Bring your id and leave your brain at home.

One thing I would like to address before jumping into a review is the fact that the Marvel movies are set in a different universe (Earth - 199999) as to the standard comic universe (Earth - 616). That being said, it doesn't necessarily have to adhere to 616 storyline, as the other universes such as Ultimate (Earth - 1610). The movie therefore had it's own compelling story which I enjoyed very much. The effects were absolutely spectacular and the fact that Black Widow and War Machine were introduced was great. I also enjoyed the combination of Whiplash and Crimson Dynamo that was presented. It was an enjoyable experience that I would go back to the theaters for again and again. I was engrossed in the movie from the very beginning and it kept me as such until the very end. We all waited until after the credits were over because we knew there was a surprise in store. Definitely a must see!

This movie was fantastic. They played on Tony Stark's fight against alcoholism, which if anybody is a fan knows about the alcoholism.
They also didn't quite explain the particle accelerator, but it was a very good movie. If anybody can recognize that it is a particle accelerator then just ignore it because the physics is kinda weird.
The movie wasn't all about blasting everything to kingdom come either which was a good thing. They also set up the ongoing fight between Justin Hammer and Tony Stark that will always be there.
I also thought that they showed Stark and Rhodes' relationship more and their friendship.
Overall, AN AWESOME MOVIE!!!

"Iron Man 2" not only meets but exceeds expectations. Robert Downey Jr. brings back Tony Stark for round 2 in a jaw-dropping and eye-popping adventure, that will have you counting the days down until Iron Man 3. There is more action, more comedy, and a stronger cast than the first movie. Don Cheadle was a wise choice for Lt. Colonel James Rhodes, and did not let down audiences after replacing Terrence Howard from the first film. He is War Machine, just as much as RDJ is Iron Man.
Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff was phenominal as her character gave Pepper Potts (portrayed by Gwyneth Paltrow) a reason to stick out more and become more involved with Tony Stark.
Mickey Rourke's Whiplash was great to watch. His character rivaled Downey's in this film as Ivan Vanko is portrayed to be much more of an equal (had brains and 'brawn') than Jeff Bridges' Obadiah Stane we saw previously. It was releaving to see such a villain who was more open throughout the entire movie with his motives and still maintained the power he did.
Overall this is a movie that will have fans and non-fans both thrilled to come back for rounds 2, 3, 4, and beyond. I know I will be back to my local theatre this weekend to catch an encore.

Overall a very good movie. Fun action, good humor, and good suspense.
One problem I had with the movie was with the science used to explain what the hero Tony Stark was accomplishing later on in the film. The physics used was incorrect. Most people won't care about this, but for the few who understand subjects like this, it can be annoying when movies attempt to explain what's happening scientifically with blatantly wrong and poorly researched information.
If the writer's aren't willing to look up and understand the proper information, then I would prefer them to stick to very general explanations to phenomena, and instead concentrate on the artisty and feel of the movie.
Again, most people won't care about, so it's not a big deal. The movie's cool and lots of fun.
Additionally, much of the movie physics of how material objects behaved, such as cars, was questionable. There were several parts of cars crashing, wrecking in manners that I immediately thought, "this is not how things like this happen". Again however, no big deal.
Go see Iron Man 2! You'll like it. =)

I was really looking forward to IM2 and hoped it would kick off the summer movie season with a bang. Quite the contrary. It started slow and never really picked up with the action. The trailers showed the only real action scenes. The plot was all over the place. The Rockwell character was weak and not a worthy nemesis for Stark. There was too much of the wrong stuff going on. Not nearly enough action at all. Enjoyed Mickey Rourke's performance though. I would only recommend for video.

Great visuals, Good action, Good humor, Pretty good continuation of the series. However, the villain, is poorly developed and the love story between Pepper and Tony isn't develored properly. Also, time is wasted in developement and the the final conflict only lasts like 3 minutes. Next, I thought SHIELD's involvement was too heavy, and almost became a novelty. Finally, I like Don Cheadle, but I Hate when movies recast (remember the Maggie Gyllenhall disaster).
This is still a great movie, and I enjoyed it thoroughly, I just think that they may have rushed it to make money early on in the season. The producers should have worked with the writers to try harder on the story than they did on the comedy.

Ever since the Wrestler, I can't look at Mickey Rourke without feeling sorry for him. It doesn't help that his character only mutters 20something words in the whole movie. The other bad guy was just annoying (think Saul from Breaking Bad). With those bad guys you just didn't get the threat that you got with Jeff Bridges, therefore you didn't care that Iron Man and War Machine were winning the fight(s). Other than that is was a good film with lots of humor and action. Robert Downey is fantastic as Stark. I love the references to future movies. Stay for the credits.

Even as a comic book fan, I've never been a huge comic book movie fan. Most either try to go too far from the books and ruin the story and feel of the character, or stay extremely close to the comic, too close really, and don't bother adapting anything to work with the strengths of movies, making for a good story with horrible presentation. Iron Man 2 takes the approach of focusing on making it an entertaining movie before focusing on the series canon and comic book connections, but unlike most, it doesn't ignore them altogether. Watching Stark's descent into raging alcoholism manages to be both plot relevant and entertaining. What most reviewers fail to understand is that things like that that develop the characters and the Marvel world are the focus of the movie, not just the villain, and they do a wonderful job setting up for an Avengers movie. In plot terms, this movie is the rising action of the series, but a lot of people are expecting the climax, which this definitely isn't. But if you don't go in expecting that, you'll have a wonderful time.

I watched this movie right after the first one in a double showing last night. This movie started off okay but moved into such a long stretch of cheesy one liners and nothing more than conversations between characters without any real meaning. The middle is sooo slow that I was waiting for the movie to get to the last action scene so I knew it'd be over soon. Not even close to the original and I'm disappointed in the writing, it was poor and obvious humor for most of the movie. John Favreau can do a lot better comedy and that's why this movie is not getting a good review. Take it or leave it, but that's my review. Wait for it on video.
