Amazing cinematography! The visuals alone are reason enough to see this great ocean documentary. This is good because the narrative is weak and devoid of factual information that could have been (and should have been) included. Pierce Brosnan is okay as the narrator but he is hindered by the actual narrative script. That said I think the film narration would have been better served by an "unknown" with a deeper, richer tonal quality. In the end the film is an amazing visual journey to "another world". Unlike Avatar there is no need for special effects, make-up and CGI as God and nature have provided the greatest visual effects imaginable. Kudos to the cameramen.

The cinematography was incredible, we took the whole family (ages 4,6 and 10) and all enjoyed it. We could have done without the evolution and global warming subplots woven throughout the narration. Otherwise, it was awe inspiring and provoked much discussion with our kids about the wonder of God's creation.

Beautifully shot. Great for lovers of the ocean, and its life underneath. A little slow for younger children, there were a few in the audience that were restless, along with the kids I took. I hope they keep making these movies. Disney has always done well with documentaries.

This is a beautiful movie and one I would recommend to take children to see. Any exposure to nature that is interesting, expands their view of the world as not just the domain of people, and informative is valuable. There is little more than the photography that is great about this film. There is not much new to learn. I was glad to see the references to evolution. Anything purporting to address nature needs to address that issue.

The cinematography was astonishing. I've seen dozens of films about the ocean, but never one quite like this. It was breathtaking.
I wished that some of the sea animals would have been explored more. Sometimes the camera caught something and then there would quickly be a dissolve to something else.
Unlike a review I read here on movietickets.com, I DID enjoy the references to evolution. I don't believe that we were just plopped down here on the "7th day" dumb enough to then be adulterated by a conniving snake. Ugh. We don't need the hokey God stuff in our oceans, thank you.

My husband and I took my 7 and 9 yr old niece and nephew to see this movie. We all enjoyed the beautiful photography, unique creatures under the sea, and fabulous photography of the whales! We are avid scuba divers, and this gave us the opportunity to experience the world of whales without diving with them ourselves. I'm happy sharks were shown as animals whom are not all to be feared! We have dove numerous times with these underwater creatures without fear (just a healthy one), as they were just as curious about us as we with them. Movie was well done

I saw Oceans on Earth Day- it seemed very fitting to do. I liked how it seemed to have an appeal for all ages. The images were beautiful and realistic and I appreciate being able to see things that I may never get to experience myself. In some parts I felt like I was actually there. I also liked how it covered marine environments from around the world. I was glad that the whole movie did not focus on "doom and gloom", although there was definitely mention of our individual and social responsibility to be caretakers and good stewards. Besides the beautiful images, the one thing that stood out in my mind from seeing this was the hope that people care.

I enjoyed it. I am an ocean lover to begin with and watching the different sea life up on the big screen was great. My husband enjoyed it also. We actually learned a few things about some of the ocean life that we never knew. We liked Disneynature "Earth" and we will most likely go see next years movie, "African Cats."

1. Pierce Brosnon was the wrong choice for narrator. His voice didn't fit. The script was over the top melodramatic and his voice made the drama worse. 2. The "connection" between space and the ocean was lame, at best. 3. The lame "space connection" was demonstrated through a computer generated scene with the Galapagos iguanas and a rocket taking off. So, I'm supposed to believe that in one scene, it's the Galapagos Islands, but in the next scene we're in Florida when the iguana is native to only the Galapagos Islands? And the rocket being reflected in the iguana's eye? WOW! I thought I was seeing a "nature" movie about oceans and ocean life. There was absolutely nothing "natural" in that scene and it really irritated me that Disney used computer generated scenes. 4. Because the opening scene was computer generated, I questioned so many other scenes as not real. I never had that feeling when I saw "Earth." 5. What is it with Disney and DEATH? Were the Great White and the baby seals really necessary? I had to *run* my daughter out of there! C'mon, a little warning? You cannot convince me that I'm the only parent with a sensitive kid! 6. All the good scenes were summarized quite well in the movie trailer. None of the other scenes in the 85 minute movie compared to the scenes in the movie trailer. I was bored and actually ready to leave early because the movie was not keeping my attention. I think part of that takes us right back to Point #1. 7. Do Humpback whales really sleep like that when people are filming them? There had to be so many people and equipment to film that. I just really don't know if the humpbacks would sleep thru it. I'm wondering if that scene was computer generated too. And the scene with the scuba diver and the humpback swimming around it?. If it was real, depth perception was impossible, but I'm not sure it was even real. But, having said that, humpbacks are absolutely amazing! 8. I don't feel like I've learned a thing. I feel like I spent money to see altered, enhanced images that really aren't true to life.

"This is a wonderful movie with excellent cinematography and beautiful background music. I would definitely recommend seeing it on the "big screen". Some of the shots they were able to get were quite exceptional. My only complaints were not really about the movie. First, the theatre has the sound-based, rumbling seats which I found distracting in several parts of the movie. Second, because it is a family show and there are also many quiet parts in the movie (meant to be peaceful and lovely) it was very distracting to hear all the parents talking to/with their children and to listen to the whining, bored, or frightened children who were too young to be there in the first place. If your children are under six, there are several parts of the movie that could prove to very intimidating - and the music (and rumbling seats) make it more so. For older children, though, it should not really be a problem. But if you have young children, noisy children, or like to talk with your children during a movie, you will most likely irritate the other movie goers. In those cases, please wait for the DVD.

Oceans paled in comparison to the wonderful job Planet Earth film accomplished.The Disney film was too long and not as spectacular as Planet Earth. Perhaps because i had seen similar footage in previous films, so I wanted to be dazzled by a big budget. A very informative and enlightening look at our seas and their importance to this planet. The photography is excellent. I was amazed at all of the different events and wildlife movements that occur just under the surface of a substance that covers two thirds of our world. I hope Disney nature does another ocean movie in the future, because I'm certain they didn't but scratch the surface of what occurs in our oceans.

My daughters and I really enjoyed this movie, it was beautiful, and fascinating to see the bottom of the ocean, The dolphins, wales and sea lions and seals were so much fun to watch. I felt as if I were really under water, or at the place my self, it was awesome. I am however not sure why parents would bring young children to this movie, this is not a cartoon disney movie, it is a documentary. I couldn't enjoy this movie as much as I would have liked because I kept getting kicked from behind, and a young child talked through out the film. Parents, please choose wisely when you decide to take your children to a film. $31.50 is alot to pay for a film that I didn't get to enjoy.

A beautifully filmed movie. The grandeur of the oceans is on full display. Its hard to imagine the hours of film footage required to achieve this masterpiece. Pierce Brosnan is an excellent choice for Narrator. Fine for the family. Even the few scenes of animals as prey are tastefully done. This movie is a powerful reminder that humans do not own the earth. This movie should be required viewing for every school system; for everyone.

"Oceans" was a masterpiece of cinematography and world-wide scientific cooperation. In true Disney form we see all sides of nature and man's effect on our environment. Recall Disney classics such as "Bambi" and "Lion KIng" where we see both good and bad. It is no different here in DisneyNature's "Oceans". I took 2 nine-year-olds and while one did get scared, she still couldn't take her eyes off it. As the day wore on she recalled the beauty of the movie and the power of its message. It was a little long for me, lots of time just listening to nature, but definitely a worthwhile experience.

I found the movie to be fascinating. My daughter who is 20 and I went and we both loved it. We never even knew some of the creatures that they showed existed! I didn't think the movie should be characterized as scary. Its nature. I think they did the best they could in showing that "the big fish eat the smaller fish". That wasn't the whole movie. It was long but worthwhile and I'm so glad we got to see it. The camera crew did an absolutely amazing job. Just incredible. Looking forward to next years movie. I wish they would have done more advertising in my area because no one that I talked to at work or any of my friends had even heard of it. Thats such a shame. This movie should be seen. You will walk away from this in fascination of what the oceans hold.

I disagree with whom ever says this movie is scary.. There is nothing to be scared about. I brought three 7yr olds and one 5 yr old. They loved it! It was definately a learning experience, beautiful scenery, making us wish that we were physically in the ocean. Maybe it was a little bit too long for the young ones, but the kids didn't complain so I zipped my mouth shut. If your child likes to sit while going through this type of experience (that is NOT scary) please take them to see it

I SAW SOOO MANY CREATURES I NEVER KNEW OF OR EVER SAW BEFORE. OCEANS IS SOOO TOUCHING IN SOO MANY WAYS. THERE ARE SAD MOMENTS, HAPPY MOMENTS AND FUNNY MOMENTS, IT IS A MIXTURE OF EVERYTHING. I HOPE THIS MOVIE IS A RUDE AWAKENING TO ALL OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO DON'T RECYCLE AND TAKE CARE OF THE WORLD, NATURE, ETC. IT HAS OPENED MY EYES EVEN MORE, A WHOLE LOT MORE. LOVED THIS MOVIE, WORDS CANNOT DESCRIBE MY FEELINGS.

I am a great animal lover as is my daughter, who is 14. We went to see this movie with a friend and her son who is 5. They had to to leave because he was scared. My daughter and I were very disappointed in the movie and thought that Disney could have done a better job. We wanted to see all the beautiful things, we don't always need to see the unfortunate side of nature ie., a whale killing a seal. I think the rating of "G" was inappropriate and the movie certainly surprised and scared those younger than 10. Aliens of the Deep by James Cameron was a far superior movie.

I took my grandchildren ages 3 and 6. They loved it. They are mature and understand in the animal world life and death exist. We look forward to seeing next years movie and applaud the camera work and detail of the under water kingdom that was so cleverly captured. Thank you DISNEY!!!
