Trailer looked like it would work for little kids - but both my 3 & 8 YO children were squirming after 30 minutes.
Mine tend to be very active - so this would probably not be the case for all small kids - but for sure - this is a documentary - not a typical G-Rated Family movie.
Having said all that - my husband and I enjoyed it greatly.

I probably could have done with a little less of the brutality--like maybe one baby turtle getting picked off rather than what seemed like hundreds. I couldn't even watch that scene. But overall the photography was incredible and the message was very good--if not quite strong enough. A good shot of the huge garbage areas from space might have sent a very strong message so people can see just how large they are.

This was a very good film. We went because my daughter could get extra credit in science for writing a report on this film. Honestly, if not for that we wouldn't have gone. But, I am so glad I did. I and both of my daughters learned so much. The angles used to capture sea creatures were fascinating. A truly beautiful film with a great message.

The video captured of the sea mammals was breathtaking. My daughters, 14 & 6, both got something wonderful out of this film. We all walked away from this film with a better understanding of the underwater world and it's magnficence. It was a special bonding moment because we talked about the different events we saw in the film and why we liked it or didn't like it. Excellent job Disney!

The footage is very well done showing the ocean and it's inhabitants in ways that you know took great patience and skill to film. The story is important in many ways and hopefully brings enlightenment that will help save our waters and home to so many beautiful creatures. I found this film to be terrific, but I am also very passionate about our oceans and the marine world. The cinematic work is impressive, and the story at the end is a solid one.
My wife, who does not feel as passionately as I do about the ocean, enjoyed the film. But as she put it, it was "like watching a Jacques Cousteau special on a bigger screen". I think for her, waiting for it to come to home video would not have reduced her viewing experience.
So in the end, I think your enjoyment of the film will depend on how connected you are to the ocean. Strong connection = strong enjoyment.

The film was beautiful. It had a great message, some stunning cinematography, and just enough information and action to keep my four year old engaged without overwhelming him. The message about what we are doing to the world is there and the realities of various environmental and predatory danger are there, but there is also celebration of life.

A beautifully done film! Yes, the narrative was low key but dramatics are not necessary in a naturally dramatic and exquisitely captured view of what the ocean IS. The camera work is beyond words. We are not lectured about all that we do to damage ocean life, but certainly the message is there. The same people I heard in the audience condemning the shots of baby turtles being swooped up by birds for food, perhaps should focus on the other "realities" of pollution and destruction of sealife by man. This film presented all the realities well.

I guess I had high expectations for this film based on last year's Earth Day release. I am sad to say that I was disappointed. It was beautiful cinematography/pictures, but it was sadly lacking in exciting music and voice. It was so "blah". The script wasn't written as exciting/with feeling. My boys didn't stay interested like last time. Sad to say, but they needed someone besides Pierce Brosnan. Other than that, the footage of the animals/ocean was just awesome!

Ironically, my daughter wanted to see this movie for her birthday and I am in college online taking a class in Environmental Science. The pictures of the ocean were breathtaking. There were many species that I did not know were there in the ocean such as the dragon and the rockfish. My heart went out to that polar bear, who seemed so alone. I have learned from my class that they are an endangered species now. It was toward the end when you see the waves crashing and rolling. It was so relaxing to watch, I almost fell asleep. However, this film is a subtle, yet powerful wake-up call for us humans, to find a way to save what we have on Earth. I believe that it should have been in 3-D, to know the effects of the Earth better.

Like some previous reviewers, I like more information in my movies, but this was very good for kids, they got enough information and what they left with was how important it is to save wildlife for the future, so I was happy with that. We kept a 6, 8 and 12 year old happy for an hour and a half. They only complained that it was too short! Can't wait for African Cats!

My nine year old daughter loved the movie! I loved the movie as well, although my husband wished there was more. He was wanting more information, such as why do the spider crabs behave as they do. The images were amazing! The message that was sent was powerful. Can't wait for Earth Day 2011 release of Big Cats!

We took our two young boys to see this movie since they loved "EARTH" and after being bored to death with Discovery Channels "Life", we were hoping for a much better documentary to watch with our boys but unfortunatly just like "Life" we were almost put to sleep by the narrator & the music chosen (or shall I say no music at all during some scenes). Now don't get me wrong, the shots taken for this movie were unbelievable (especially the Shark & Humpback Whale scenes) and the message the movie sent home with us was a strong one so we didn't go away completely disappointed, we just wished someone else was talking.

I have to say I did enjoy this movie. As an adult currently taking Marine Biology I was expecting something a little more in depth. I had to realize that this is a G rated movie and it is for children. My daughter whi is 5 loved it she was glued to the screen the entire time. While the photography/movie content was very good and 'educational', there was way too much reference to Evolution for a Creation believer like me. Pierce Brosnan was the wrong choice as narrator. I admit that there were parts of the movie that dragged and I briefly dozed off.It wasn't just me..my wife and daughter also dozed and we all agreed it was due to the narration. Why couldn't they get Queen Latifah again? Or Morgan Freeman? The undersea photography was spectacular, however. One of those cases where the trailer for the movie was more exciting than the movie itself

Wonderful movie, makes you realize what a special place we live in. My children (11, 8, 5) all enjoyed it equally as well, and in fact want to see it again. The film is only around 90 minutes, and is easy to sit through. The panoramic views are just spectacular. Enjoy it with the family.

This movie was interesting because it didn't focus on saving the ocean. I really loved how it focused on the animals that live in the ocean plus talking about what they do to eat and survive. Very well shot and Pierce Brosnan was a solid narrator choice.

I thought Oceans was a wonderful journey guiding us through our vast oceans. You saw creatures in their world that you would never get to see. I took my two daughters (9 & 12) and they both really enjoyed it. I would not recommend this movie for small children as it is a bit long for them.

What a wonderful movie!! My two kids 9 and 8 enjoyed the movie also. The message was we need to work to save our planet. But the message was NOT rammed down your throats. It started a nice conversation for me and my kids. The filmong underwater was beautiful! I love the Dolphins and Whale footage. All in all an excellent way to spend a day with my kids!

One of the best movies out this season. beautiful photography, narration was perfect. could have watched it at least another hour or more. Would definately go see it again.

A great learning expereince for the kids and enjoyable enough for the folks, it has very good scenery shots and tells a good epic story of how we can mess this thing up if we dont care about it more, a litte slow moving in some parts but overall a very nice picture..
