Took my 5 year old daughter, and we loved it. I read reviews that said it was too scary. I think these people should watch The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and maybe 101 Dalmatians, not to mention Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty. I bet you all have at least one of these in your movie collection. The villain in this movie is no worse than the villain in these movies. It captured the magic of New Orleans that I remember from my childhood. If you have never been to New Orleans you may not truly understand it. It was a great kids movie with great lessons. Don't over think it, just go and see it.

My wife and I are big fans of Disney romance. Our first date was to see Beauty and the Beast. We had high hopes for this "return to hand-drawn animation" from the Disney Studios, but it was not to be. The backgrounds and effects were very good (and computer aided) but the characters - especially the frogs - lacked any soul. They were flat and un-expressive. The musical numbers were okay, but were too similar to music from Aladdin and others to be called original. A stylized number in the middle really didn't belong. We really WANTED to like this movie, but felt that we weren't given the best the studio can do.

My kids really enjoyed it with many laugh out loud moments. I really enjoyed the music and cannot wait to get the soundtrack. A couple of scary parts, but the movie keeps flowing and moving!

I cannot say enough good things about this film. I loved it! My boys (6&8) and my daughter (2 1/2) really enjoyed it. They can tell you the moral of the story and name the characters. I was very happy Disney finally featured an African American princess.

We took my 2 1/2 year old daughter to see this movie since she loves princesses. She loved it! It was a very enjoyable movie but parts of it were a little on the scary side. Luckily most of the voodoo and dead souls scenes were over her head.

I saw this on Christmas Eve with my 20 year old daughter. I havent seen a Disney movie in the theatre in over 10 years. There was only one family with children in the theatre. The voodoo aspect was a bit much but at least they added Mama Odie to balance it out. And at least the Shadowman was defeated in the end. I especially like it because it was different.

The kids liked it a lot, especially the music, and what more can you ask for? Well, you could ask for a Pixar movie.
The last two thirds of the movie has good suspense and a good beat. Any child under twelve will stay in their seat for a while.
Since it is set in New Orleans it also has to dance around some tricky topics, such as racial harmony, massive economic disparity, and Cajun identity. It also builds on a dreamy vision of New Orleans that Hurricane Katrina washed away. My twelve year old was asking all types of hard questions afterward about all the stuff the filmmakers glossed over.
It is a good time if you suspend disbelief. Just do not expect too much.

I saw this with my boyfriend on Christmas Eve. It lifted both of our spirits. I have visited New Orleans several times. This movie captured the culture just right. The princess has gumption. Good morals all around. There is plenty of magic, but also solid real concepts (that don't hit you on the head). Randy Newman captured the genres of: zydeco, jazz, and gospel perfectly. Wonderful for all ages.

Disney animation is always well done, but their content leaves a lot to be desired in this movie. The story would have been good if the addition and focus on voodoo/witchcraft in the story line had been left out; it makes an old fairy tale inappropriate for children of any age. Many things to like about this movie: the animation in many parts was amazing, very colorful, inventive and the effects were top-notch. The movie did a great job with all ethinic characters, the New Orleans flair - if only it would have stuck with that. All was good with the "Princess" trying to get a business started, with no money and so on. The villian was great, but when the main characters are turned into frogs and a great deal of the movie is about two frogs, was a little tough to get involved in. Lion King, Hunchback, were better stories. I wish they had told the story better: so much beauty and it just felt empty.

cute storyline, but we really disliked how much voodoo was a part of the plot. As is typical with Disney, they can't make a wholesome movie without mixing in evil throughout. That really ticked me off as a parent, and was a shame because the songs and characters were great. I'd think twice about recommending this to others that have a filter over what they put in front of their kids.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Hand drawn character animation didn't die with The Lion King, Beauty & the Beast, or The Little Mermaid. It was just asleep - waiting for this movie to join them.
The folks responsible for all Pixar's success run Disney's animation shop now, and it shows. This movie is right up there with the best that Walt's folks have ever done.
Music is by Randy Newman, it's truly a 'G' rated classic, and it's a big hug to the city & people of New Orleans. If you've been there, you'll recognise the Corn House, Jackson Square, or many of the other places that make NOLA special.
Bring about 5 tissues - there's a 'Bambi' moment or two.
This is a MUST see, a MUST buy, and I'm 49 folks.
The magic is back.

Took my 4 year daughter and she loved it. We were just sad that one of best characters in the movie had to die as is the case in alot of disney movies.
