Not so pleased with this movie. The princess was a frog for TOO long! My daughter loves the princesses and she actually asked when the movie was going to end because she was not that entertained. She wanted to see the princess, not frogs! This one was not worth all the hype and does not compare to any princess movie in the Disney catalog.

I am surprised by the other reviews. I think this is the BEST movie to come from Disney in a long, long time. It is classic Disney: Stunning animation that sweeps you into the scene and strong moral lessons. The voodoo aspect is disturbing, because it is supposed to be disturbing! Don't mess with the devil/demons, and right there on the screen is why. There were alot of kids at the show I took my daughter to, and there was no indication that the kids were too scared. (no crying, or people taking kids out of the theater). In fact, for a room full of kids, you could hear a pin drop most of the time. Also, the music was awesome. Fun, toe-tapping and not one bit irritating for the grown ups.

The theater version did not offer anymore than a dvd version would offer. Being a native New Orleanian, I did not find anything special that was relative to the South in that era exception the separation of the races as well as the division of the East and West banks of the Mississippi River. The lightening bug communication was for the older children, but even they had trouble understanding his Cajun accent. The colors were beatiful, but overall I did not enjoy this Disney movie as I have other in the past.

From an adults point of view, good movie as far as a cartoon goes. Brought a 4,5,&6 year old to the show. The 6 year old jumped on my lap about 3/4 the way through it. She was scared of the 'shadows' chasing the people. The two younger boys were ok, but could have done without the shadows. Recomended for those 7 or above, or loves to be frightened.

The start of the movie was great. However, it becomes dark and the voodo man is too scary for young kids. I had brought my son that is 4 and half years old and we had to leave the movies halfway through it. He got scared and he is usually tolerates scary things. I would not recommend this to any kids under 7.

I was excited to take my grandchildren to see this movie, but was very disappointed with all the occult activities: voodoo, tarot card reading; demons. It was too scary for the 4-year-old. I wouldn't recommend this movie; in fact, I've been telling my friends with children not to go see it. Disney's films just keep getting darker and darker.

This didn't have the usual Disney charm. Too scary and the villian was too demonic for young kids. The animation looked poor. The songs were mostly forgetable. My wife and I both said we would be insulted if we lived in New Orleans, as nearly each and every person and animal was portrayed as toothless, stupid, and overweight.

I was not expecting such a dark, serious villain. Voo-doo? Why introduce such a dark practice to children. Using the prince's blood and sticking another with a pin was innappropriate. The princess lost her father, a soldier,,unnecessary to the plot of the movie. Why include something that might trigger pain among children who have experienced loss. This is a children's movie. Keep it light hearted. Both of my grandchildren, 6 & 4 wanted to leave early! I kept them because I wanted them to see that the shadow man was going to lose and not triumph. Think twice before bringing your kids to this one. I think there was too much scare and not enough cheer.

Great return to full animation. I saw it twice, and being from New Orleans, enjoyed the accuracy of the scenery and dialogue. The best thing was the message about having dreams, but you must be willing to work hard to make them come true. A bit more realistic in its message to the younger generation. What fun! This is a great opportunity to have the entire family experience dreams fulfilled through hard work and determination. 'The Princess and the Frog' is a good movie for kids, with bright colors and funny animals. It doesn't have humor sophisticated enough for adult tastes, unlike most of the other recent animated films. And, as is usual in cartoons, stereotypes are used in place of character development. I think Disney has leaned more toward adult films not children's films. the last 2 movies The Chrismas Carol and The Princess and the Frog. The Voo Doo doctor and his shadows were a bit scary for childen under the age of 6. Some way Disney needs to get back to the children with more colorful characters and make the villians less scary. My daughters and I really enjoyed the movie. We enjoyed all of the characters except for Shadow man and loved the songs. It's a definite family must see. Would love to see it again.

Great movie. Really gave a great lesson on working HARD for what you want and your dreams can come true... Music was super and it made you feel like you were in New Orleans dancing and singing... clever characters and songs.

Wonderful movie!! I took my 6 year granddaughter to see it we loved it. We had a great time singing the songs on the way home. Disney did a great job with this one.

What I liked about the film: Loved the music. Good story. Beautiful story about dreams. Wonderul artwork. Cute frogs.
What I didn't like about the film: Too much Voo-Doo. Scared my 4.5 year old daughter. Our six year old son loved the music and didn't seem to mind all of the Voo-Doo shadows.
