I saw this movie with my daughter and a friend and her daughter. We all LOVED the music - but the voodoo story line was a little scary for little ones (our girls are 4 and 5 and weren't too scared). I would totally recommend this movie - but if your child is young, expect a lot of lap-time!

What a wonderful fairy tale. The music was fantastic. My 6 year old enjoyed it & tapped her toes almost the entire movie. I see in some reviews that some brought younger (3 and under) to this film, but I feel it's a little beyond their attention and age level. There are "dark" side characters and shadows that required explaining to my 6 year old, so I can't imagine what a 2 or 3 year old would think. But all in all, big thumbs up!

This was my 3 yr.old's first movie and it kept her attention the entire time. I found it very entertaining, and suprisingly funny. However, there were a few references to adult topics/situations that I thought were inappropriate for children.

I was so pleased to finally have another Disney heroine (Mulan being the other one) who was a great example to raise a strong young woman! Tia worked hard, dreamed hard, and stayed true to herself through this whole movie!

Just excellent-back to the true Disney animation. The characters were great, the music got you going in your seat. My daughter just enjoyed it as well as my husband. Love how they did the new princess- was put into terms of the real world with the fantasy part. Highly recommend it.

The extremely positive aspects of this film were the African American princess who held and realized a dream beyond marrying her prince, great music, excellent animation, and appeal to all ages.I took my 2 year old grandson and 3 1/2 year old granddaughter. Although they are far below the 'recommended age,' they both enjoyed ithe movie and were not frightened by the 'voo doo' man. They can recognize the 'bad people' and simply articulate who they are.

I thought the movie was well written. There were no suggestive language to entertain the adults but confuse the kids, which is very important to me. It was entertaining from beginning to end. I really enjoyed the interaction with the father and the daughter in the movie, showing the importants of a father-daughter relationship and the support the mother showed after his death. Great movie, a classic for years to come. My family will be returning to see from better seats.

This one was Aladdin fun without an over-reaching Robin Williams-type to speak of. Great voice/vocal casting, good paced story, and lots of fun songs! My 3 year old and I both had a good time bouncing along to the songs and keeping up with the action. I would watch this in the theater again!

Our 3 1/2 year old was SCARED by Shadowman and wanted to leave the theatre. This movie is exceptionally well done, excellently crafted and the effects, story, and voices are dead on. I loved it but I'm 47 not 4 or 7. That said, I would not take a child under the age of 8 to this movie. It's way too intense in the scary parts; more for an adult than a child's sensibilities. It's a great update on the Disney Princess story with a 21st century twist.

All parents should consider that the voodoo and spiritistic overtones are extensive throughout this movie. This created a level of suspense and exposure to images and sounds that, in my opinion, were too much for kids. Hey, the Shadowman started to get under my skin as an adult. If I was viewing this movie on DVD, I would have skipped a large portion of the voodoo scenes. The "scariness is too thick" for little eyes, ears, and minds!

I used the word scary since my 7 yr old used it too. For me, it's the usual Disney villain scary, though because it deals with voodoo and the shadow man's "friends", I guess it provided enough for her not to sleep well that night. So, yes I would recommend it, with the reminder that each kid is different and to take that into consideration. Loved some of the characters (like Ray) and the "working hard" message that my girl got too!

movie was entertaining, funny and great music.. Like I have always said never saw a Disney movie I did not like... Kids will love it and so will the adults. We have a whole collection of Disney movies and this will definately be added to it.
