This movie would have been great if it wasn't for the director. Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, and all the other actors and actresses did an unbelievable job on portraying there characters. But the slow pace of the movie, especially during the action scenes, really took a lot out of it. What should have been a high action thriller about one of the greatest bank robbers of all time, ended up being more about how John Dillinger like to spend his leggier time. This with the random camera style, that looks like they gave a 13-year-old kid a camcorder, the kind they used in Children of Men. All in all though this is still a good movie to go see. But its one that you'll enjoy and never feel like seeing again.

Though I liked the second half of the movie more than the first. It gets to be more on point with history during the second half, whereas the first it simply presents the characters and works up to the final scenes. There's a lot of camera juggling, to give you the perspective as if you were there too talking to John Dilinger but it made me a bit dizzy.
If you're a history buff about American gangsters, it is a movie to go see. I didn't like that the "lady in red" was the "lady in a white blouse and orange skirt". If this is more accurate with history, I still would've wanted to see the infamous "red dress".

The camera direction in this movie was LOUSY.. It felt as though someone filmed it with a handheld camera. Christian Bale did a lousy job.. The only positive was Johnny Depp, a truly good actor, otherwise I was very dissapointed. I would only rent this movie, I would not recommend people pay $10 to see it. Bye Bye Black bird....

Public Enemies is an overall good movie, however, I rated it one star down as it's nothing groundbreaking. I also feel that it could have replaced some of the boring romantic scenes with more action.

This movie had a lot going for it.
1. A great storyline that led to a fairly decent script. 2. An all-star cast who excellently portrayed their characters. 3. Great Locations.
It really blew it with the camera direction. The movie was made with all hand held cameras. Many of the scenes were dizzying, shaky and spinning. There was extreme close ups of the actors faces and odd shots of their back sides or peoples feet. Several times I had to turn away from the movie to refocus and stop my stomach from churning.
The only reason I did not leave prior to the movie's end and ask for my money back was that I am a huge Johnny Depp Fan.
I would recommend getting this movie as a Rental . It's something to see but not in the theaters.

I really liked the movie. It skipped over all the tiny little details that would have made it drag. If you know about John Dillinger than you understand everything going on. And Johnny Depp did an awesome job. But I wasnt to impressed by Christian Bale . I just didnt feel his character.

This movie was nothing like what I expected. The trailer made it look like it would be non-stop and action packed. There were glimpses of action, but the plot for the most part was way too slow and drug out. There is absolutely no character developement. He is already america's most wanted criminal when the movie starts and it just "picks up" after he's already who he is. Nothing about how he got started or how he became infamous. It seemed more like a sequel than a new movie. I was very very disappointed.

Great movie it was def worth going to see this at midnight!! The only thing that i thought was hard to follow was who was who but the acting was well done. I usually dont go and see this kind of movie but i really enjoyed it.

If you've seen and like old gangster flicks, this will be one to add to your collection. Many people complained about the movie being too long and slow-paced yet it was produced like that for a purpose. Old flicks have the same effect. It was genius to bring back an old-school gangster in the same type of movie-style of his era. Johnny Depp did amazing, Christian Bale could have done better (his accent is not very believable) Marion Cotillard was also once again, astonishing. Dolls & Gents, 5 stars!

I was so excited to see this movie and I cannot believe what a dissapointment it was. There was no excitement and the story line just never WOWs you. I felt that the character development was non existant. When they started killing off the main characters I was like "Who Cares". I feel a lot of people we agree with me after they see this film.

Unbelievable!!! Johnny Depp's performance keeps the audience hanging. Christian Bale did a much better job in this movie compared to 'Salvation'. The action is wonderful, the story is suspenseful, and it will keep EVERYONE on the edge of their seat! Well acted and scripted. The cool thing about this movie, like most of Depp's films, is that although he is considered the bad guy to society, the script - the story makes you like his character. Trust me......this is a must-see!

The previews make this movie look like its gonna be all hyped. Guess again I caught a sneak peak showing earlier. Johnny Depp does an execllent job playing as john dilenger. (Sorry bad speller) He was defiantly made for this role, he brought this character to life. I sawa the orignal and it was so so. This one was just wow. Can't forget Christian Bale. Now I was hoping he would act alittle better then he did in Terminator. He did 10x better in this then terminator. This is a must see. Now there are some graphic shooting scenes, and theres some breif foul language. It was still a 5/5. One of the best movies I have seen this summer. Not as good as transformers but it was still outstanding.
