It made it look very realistic to the 1940's, and had awesome action. Johnny Depp played an incredible gangster who turned out to be a hero to the public (however we all know what happens to the bad guy in a movie). Still, it was exciting!

I was thrilled to see the movie in the New Millenium and while i watched this movie last night, i remembered when i was in the 10th grade when my History teacher Mr. White taught us the lesson about the Great Depression. I understood how hard times were back in the days and when i heard about this, i knew it was gonna be interesting in my class. I was glad to see a movie put together to bring back the old hard times that we will never forget. Mr. Depp, as John Dillinger, played a terrific role being the most straight up Bold Gangster during the Depression. I understood Johnny's stuggles when he was a kid stealing 50 dollars form a convenient store when there was no Great depression around that time.

This was a descent Gangster movie. The action was cleverly written and fitted the times perfectly. I believe it was an outstanding depiction on the reality of living in the 30's during the Great Depression. I don't believe they covered the criminal psyche well at all because of how involved the romantics the plot possessed. I think girls will really get into this film more so than any other gangster film before it. Johnny Depp was not the best man to play Dillinger, but he made it interesting. The gun battle up in Wisconsin was awesome, it was foreseen.

"Public Enemies" deserves the praise it received from many, including the New York Times, which referred to this film as a work of cinematic art. I couldn't agree more thoroughly! The cinematography was breathtaking. Marion Cotillard simply became Billie, and the performances of Johnny Depp and Chritian Bale were similarly excellent. The movie made me come come home and immediately learn the full back story of this criminal era. What was it about the 1930s that produced such violence??? Clould it have been the economy solely?

I think overall the movie was okay but the best parts of the movie were on the commercials. Not the action that was portrayed to be. I really could have waited until this movie came out on DVD. this will probably be nominated for oscars for costume and lighting but certainly not for writing or directing. it was an ok movie but coming the day after i saw The Hurt Locker, it suffered a lot by comparison.

I was glad to see the movie was shot in natural light instead of a blue or brown filter. Johnny was great over all. If the real John Dillinger was menacing back in the day, I certainly didn't get that feeling from Johnny Depp. I did get the feeling that he was conflicted over the brutality of his career choices and the love and good wishes for his friends and especially Billy. Marion Cotillard did a great job, especially in the torture scene. Most of the supporting actors did a great job. Christian Bale was robotic as usual. I would love to see him in a comedy.

I'm on the fence about this film. After seeing so many wonderful characature-like/over-the-top performances by Depp, this lower-key gangster movie left me wanting for the other Johnny. It had it's moments, but the pace was a little slow & felt average in terms of storytelling/filmmaking. Dillinger was a notorious criminal in his time - but the movie lacked enough period content (I never felt transported into the lives of these characters) to portray just how menacing he was, THEN. Marion Cotillard gave a wonderfully understated performance. All around, the movie didn't really 'gel' for me and the whole didn't equal the sum of its parts.

Great performances. Loved the style it was shot in with the handheld HD cameras. Can't wait for the Blu-Ray disc to come out. Depp was tremendous.

Not your typical weird Johnny Depp movie, but an excellent performance. Excellent job by Christian Bale as well. Some amazing gun fire scenes, mostly because of the use of some BIG guns! Would definitely see this again and recommend to others.
