There was no reason to drag this movie out for 2 1/2 hours. Could have been done in a lot less time (and bullets). Didn't care for the dark filming (hard time telling who wa who) and found a lot of the dialogue difficult to hear. Acting was very good though.

My wife and I went to see this movie yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. Johnny Depp and all supporting actresses/actors did a very good job. It's good to see ganster movies can still be made that portray the reality of the era!

This is the worst movie. I almost was going to leave in the middle of it but I figured since I paid I might as well sit it out and see if it gets any better. I am totally into movies like this and could not wait to see it - COMPLETE DISAPPOINTMENT. Put it this way if I rented it on demand I would of shut it off midway. Stay away not worth the time. I never write reviews on movies because I simply really never care to but I am so turned off at the fact they call this a movie and charge people money to see it you should just know. It was entertaining and had plenty of action. Depp was great as usual but other supporting actors were weak. The plot and story line was predictable and it had nothing that would seperate it from other gansta movies. It was worth the money but you could wait until the DVD.

Went to see Public Enemies yesterday and was definitely not disappointed. The performances of both Johnny Depp and Marion Cotillard were magnetic when the two shared the screen, incredible chemistry! As a fan of Johnny Depp we were not disappointed - he did a great John Dillinger. However, some of the filiming, i.e., bumpy camera movement, made the movie feel like a grade "b" presentation. It did keep our interest. Christain Bale was a little "over the top" We got a glimpse of how much the public admired what Dillinger did as far as taking the bank's money back, but we would have liked the character to be developed more. We will definitely recommend this as a great DVD rental.

Public Enemies was a good portrayal of the era and the characters. I found that it brought you to the 1930's and depicted the intensity of the hunt for Public Enemy #1, John Dillinger. Johnny Depp was great. You could tell that he researched the part down to the accent. All the actors fit their parts. It was action packed and I would recommend it to my friends. We really enjoyed it.

Johnny Depp is brilliant as Dillinger. The role is nothing like he's ever done before. It's worth seeing just to watch Depp. Bale does an admirable job as a entirely too strait-laced FBI man.
Maybe I would have enjoyed it more if I knew the history of Dillinger. I didn't know who all the characters were, and got the feeling that there were things I should understand but didn't. I couldn't quite care about Dillinger as much as I should have, but I don't know if it's my ignorance of history or a problem with the film.

I love Johnny Depp! That said, I stayed for the whole movie but as we left, I wondered what I would take with me. NOTHING is the answer. We needed to get inside. We needed a compelling story. I think it was great great portal of Dillenger. Johnny Depp is not an actor I watch often, but i am glad I did this time, he played an awesome Dillenger. The action was great. This movie puts you in the 30's. It oozes with authenticityand makes you feel like you are in the heart of the early '30's! What it lacks is substance in story. John Dillinger is one of the most fascinating characters who basically helped changed the face of FederalLaw enforcement & put Hoover on the 'map' for his career-the movie barely touches on any of that. So disappointing in that it could have really been an amazing movie, but ended up just being good. Johnny Depp was amazing as Dillinger, but unfortunately nothing else in the movie is on par with his performance. Bale was flat, and nondescript. Anyone could have done what he did. We never get to know any of Dillinger's almost equally famous cronies, and barely notice or care when they die. The director put more emphasis on lame gunfights and car chases than actual plot. But it was solid, and nothing was bad, just some things could have been so much better.

Johnny Depp is a cool as ever as bad man John Dillinger and Christian Bale is fine as Melvin Purvis, his nemesis, but there's no story set up or character background. And it irritates me when filmmakers stay with some facts and mess with others when there's no reason for it.

I loved it! I particularly enjoyed the romance angle, but also the action sequences too. Johnny is so versatile and it's a pleasure to savor his talent as always. Thank you Mann for the close-ups too. I'm thinking of seeing it again. Kudos to Marion Cotillard who did a great job on the accent. I love her. See it-you won't be sorry.

Johnny did an incredible job as always. The movie was a bit slow but good. Dillenger was a gangster Robin Hood. Didn't take from the people but from the banks! A women was a means to his end. Christian did an ok job...liked his voice better than in Batman!
