I have never known anything about John Dillinger except that he robbed banks. If Johnny Depp truly followed what Dillinger was like as a person, I think he played the part beautifully. It was nice to see that they actually used Chicago and Aurora in some of the scenes, since that's where I'm from : ) Thursday night was the second time I saw the movie...on purpose.

Great story line and great role for Johnny Depp. However, I thought it moved a bit slow and there was so much shooting that it lost a bit of it's depth.

Terrific movie. Already knew the basic storyline, but the movie did a great job of showing what crime was like in the time before modern crimefighting techniques. Also did a great job of showing that law and order does not always make you one of the "good guys".

Excellent period piece. If you love the 30's... the fashion, the autos, etc. then you'll appreciate all the attention to detail. The story moves briskly and if you miss a little dialogue because they occasionally mumble, it's okay. Johnny Depp is believable and enjoyable and he manages to walk that fine line of having an edge without going over the top in his portrayal of Dillinger.
