To see people walk out of an Adam Sandler movie says a lot. First off if you do not like the "F Bomb", don't go. That takes up what seems like a third of the script. The movie was not funny at all, and a very big disappointment. Not recommended to even rent when it comes out on DVD.

The movie would have been better if they eliminated some of the stand up vulgarity. I liked the story line but the vulgarity ruined it for me. If you do not like a lot of foul language don't watch this movie. If it is ever edited for TV (which I doubt) half the movie would be edited out.

First of all, I'm not young. I'm not male. Therefore, I must not be the target audience. Horrible, horrible language. Every joke is about the male anatomy. Or so it seemed. Yawn. Some people just need to grow up. And then to be subjected to almost 2 1/2 hours of this! The worst part: we went based on reviews we heard on TV that this movie was worth seeing! I wonder how much those guys were paid??!! This movie is not worth one red penny for admission!

Being a fan of Adam Sandler I was looking forwad to this drama/comedy, but what it ended up seeming to me was a weak tug on the heart strings followed by a mild version of Scrooge, all wrapped in a vulgar laden vocabulary. I guess every star is entitled to a flop but this film souldn't even be allowed to come out in DVD. Sorry Adam :-(

I agree with most of the other people. I go to the movie very frequently. This was by far the worst movie I have seen in quite some time. The only good part was when Eminem and other people made a cameo in the movie. The language, as others have said, is a little excessive. The comedy really isn't even where it should be for the caliber of comedians in this movie. The plot is what kills it because it just drags on.

I am a huge Adam Sandler fan, but this was his worst. The language was annoying and ruined the movie. I believe I laughed a total of three times. The movie is too dragged out, two and a half hours is too long for a story like this one. I do not recommend it to anyone who is deciding to see it or not. Very dissappointed.

As a frequent movie goer there has been a lot a good and not so good movies we've seen, but Funny People was so disappointing that it and Nacho Libra deserve a class of their own. Bad language is not a turn off for us but the language in this movie was so inappropriate, the plot was not presented as well as it could have been. We were totally disapprointed in Mr. Sandler's acting and that he would apprear in such a bad movie. If we hadn't been with another couple we would have walked out half way through the movie. Only after the movie was over did the other couple inform us they were thinking the same thing, but stayed because of us..I hope Mr. Sandler picks the next movie to be in that lives up to his acting ability.

I would rate this as a zero. Tried to walk out but my date wanted to see 'if it got better'. I thought after 45 min of crudeness, that was enough. It only got worse. The only jokes any of the wanna-be-comedians knew how to tell was about f***ing or the male anatomy and there was over 2 hours of it. The ONLY funny part was one or two lines you see in the previews. I can't believe actors make millions to be in such sorry films. Next time I will check pluggedinonline.com first before seeing movies. If you saw the Beth Cooper movie and thought it was bad, this was much, much worse. Save you $ and your dignity and don't see this. My opinion of Adam Sandler just went down to Zero!

Funny People is the worst movie I have seen in a long time. After three requests to leave, my boyfriend finally succumbed and we walked out. Adam Sandler was not funny. Leslie Mann was stupid and Seth Rogan was just there. The plot, if you could call it that, never got anywhere. It meandered and went no where. Sandler's character, George, was neither likeable nor pitiful. George was boring. The movie was boring. Don't pay money to see it in the theater and don't waste the time to rent it when it comes out on DVD. Instead of Funny People, this movie should have been called Boring People.

I really like a lot of Adam Sandler's Stuff -- usually. Let me start by saying this was a great idea for a movie - but Judd Apatow just threw it out the window. The character development was really well done (except in the case of Bana) and you could really connect with the characters. By the end of the movie, it was too drawn out to care about Sandler's character, I found myself wishing his medical condition had returned to bring the movie back down a bit. What ruined this movie COMPLETELY for me was the vulgar language. It is just not enjoyable to squirm in your seat through the whole movie as they constantly used lurid se_x_ual humor to bring on cheap laughs. Hollywood, you can be better than this. Be more creative.

This movie has many laugh out loud moments, but Adam Sandler's handling of his character was the weak point in this movie. Eric Bana and Jason Schwartzman stole this movie, with Jonah Hill a strong third. Leslie Mann was her usual likeable self and her real life kids were great also. Also loved all the cameos. Just felt some of Sandlers stuff was badly played and drawn out.

The previews and interviews really had me convinced I was going to laugh my behind off from the minute the movie began until it finished. Yes its true the characted Adam Sandler played was told by his dr. he would die soon, but because it was Adam Sandler I never anticipated the movie to be so depressing. If it wasnt for Eric Bana it wouldve been a disaster. I honestly wanted to walk out but really wanted to see Eric Bana so I waited. All in all, I wouldnt even buy this movie when its out on DVD. Too long....pointless.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It had heart, it had depth, it had laughs and romance. I got a feeling I was getting a sneak peek into Sandler's real life. Yes, it was long. But so was "Twilight," "Harry Potter," and so many other movies people seem to love. I'm taking my wife to see it tonight. It's great to see a movie that makes you think about your own mortality. Definitely for the mature minded.

Even knowing that Adam Sandler's character was dying ahead of time, I still expected this to be a comedy. It was more of a long, drawn out depressing movie full of people who were jerks to their friends. It had its funny moments, I did laugh out loud at times. But the movie is predictable, especially the ending and it drags on for a LONG time. I walked out of the theatre depressed and wishing I'd seen something different or waited until it came out on DVD. Very disappointing movie considering the great comedic actors involved; Eric Bana's character was the high point of this movie for me.

I'm not much of a "movie go-er" but the ones I do see are comedies. This movie, although funny at parts, was a little drawn out. I must say I was watching the clock near the end. It was a good cast; Rogen was a perfect match for the part, and it was great to see Sandler get away from baby nosies for a few minutes. They had a good thing going at first, then it seemed like they had to smash in a moral lesson in the whole thing near the end. All over it had it's funny parts, good parts, and it's pointless parts. It's a good movie, but otherwise not a must see.

Aptly titled, there was a lot of funny and a lot of tragedy in this film. It was the poignant movie I expected to see with a great cast of characters (really!) [finally Rogen takes a departure from his one-dimensional overweight lovable lug persona] -- but I became disinterested after the 2 hour mark. Scenes w/Mann & Bana were too long (where's the editor?) To spite the scenes better left on the cutting room floor - Sandler strikes just the right tone and delivers a performance you'll remember. This is probably one of Apatow's better efforts and my favorite to date. If you like stories of self-inspection, introspection, foregiveness and redemption -- you won't be disappointed.

Would be a 3-4 star with Sandler going a step beyond the usual Waterboy or Madison persona into a character of dimension. But countless references to male anatomy are juvenile, not to mention horribly predictable esp with this cast. At that, the film is a summer special, better than most, a cool comedy for a sizzlin' hot day. Soundtrack rocks too.

Very funny and hilarious situations. A lot of cussing however and way too many references to male parts. Not exactly a family movie, just a good movie to take a buddy to. For sure not Sandler's best movie but still entertaining.

I really liked this film. I thought the mix of humor and drama was smart and well played. While the humor was dirty anatomy jokes and the vocabulary explicit at times it was still tastefully done. I give it 5 stars and will recommend to anyone.

Not a movie for children or anyone actually that has grown out of middle school humor. Horrible movie -- unoriginal idea full of references to male private parts, intimate scenes and friends betraying each other.

I really enjoyed this movie.It was equally funny and dramatic and quite a change from Sandlers usual schlock(i.e. zohan).Enjoted picking out the comics in their cameo roles and Apatow shows he doesnt need to be just rauchy to be good
