Would not recommend this for the under 20 crowd or the over 70 crowd. Definitely not for kids! I lost count of the use of the a particular swear word after 500 or so. I'm not a prude, but it was distracting. Not to mention the other inappropriate humor, some funny, most not. There were some kind moments, some tender moments, some funny moments, and redemption in the end, but nothing in the trailer led me to believe this movie would be so "blue."

I have been a huge Adam Sandler fan for years; however, his last few movies have just not been good. This one, unfortunately, is included in that category too. Funny People has some very "cutesy" moments, but overall, it was overfilled with juvenile, gutteral humor that only teens would find amusing. The plot was awesome, but the actors did not deliver. Jonah Hill was the best part of this movie. He stays true to character. Seth Rogen was disappointing. Leslie Mann was also a great asset for this movie. She and her kids are consistently believable, funny, and have an identifiable lovingness about them.

I have not been an Adam Sandler fan, mostly because of the infantile movies he has made. Going in with a bit of a prejudice, I was very pleased to see that Mr. Sandler is not just a very funny man but a very good actor! This is a film about comedians and it really gets into the lives of some very intense people who have their gifts of comedy to make up for other losses in their lives. I was very impressed and would see it again!!

Funny People started out very slow. The storyline in the script was awful! Seth Rogan and Adam Sandler did have some funny lines; however, it was a go nowhere, dull movie.
My teenagers found it engaging, but not the best movie they have ever seen.

While the story is sweet and many of the interections between the characters are enjoyable, this movie is a self-indulgent excuse for Apatow to show off his famous friends and give his wife and kids 60 minutes of screen time. The story lacks focus, it's about 30 minutes too long, and except for some of the banter between Rogen and his roommates, it really isn't very funny. Sandler in particular looks like he's phoning it in. Dissapointing overall and not worth your money.

Knowing the connection between the actors (Apatow was once Sandler's roommate) I enjoyed the movie & couldn't help imagining Rogen, Sandler & Apatow among others throwing out ideas to piece the movie together. "F" bomb maybe didn't need to be used as much but hey, this is real life for comedians. They must have been afraid to market this as a more serious story. I thought it was great, made me feel part of the movie, Johah Hill is a scream. I may be getting older but will never lose my humor!! Can't wait for the DVD, hope there's great outtakes with this bunch.

The reviews have been mixed, so we went with low expectations. However, it turns out that this movie was marketed wrong. It isn't really a comedy at all, but rather a drama with a love story, that has a lot of funny lines and funny, super talented actors in it. We liked it a lot. We love Judd Apatow's stuff in general and this didn't dissapoint. But this is more along the lines of Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Adam Sandler is brilliant.

Started out a little slow, but got better. The storyline was good and I thought Adam Sandler did a really great job, as did his assistant. However, I saw no use for the constant "f" bomb and anatomy jokes. A few might have been funny, but it was way overused. Well cast, well acted, interesting movie. There are several instances of very crude language, but virtually all of them are really funny. And the film mixes the sad elements of the plot with hilarity very well.

This movie has a few good laughs, but is mostly a downer. It’s more of a movie about how sad a comedian’s life is off-stage. Sort of a ‘tears of a clown’ theme. The numerous cameos were great, but the crude language and way too many male anatomy ‘jokes’ were a big negative. Could have been much better. It's an OK movie to see, but if you’re looking for an uplifting movie, definitely skip ‘Funny People”.

Movies seem to be getting longer and longer and the stories are getting weaker and weaker. I was very disappointed as Adam Sandler normally has a good intuition for telling good stories. Spanglish had it all and this one ended up a long unpleasant and boring movie. With excellent actors there are bound to be good moments in the movie – and there were – but it does not make up for poor cutting (shorter please!) and weak directing. Come on Hollywood and Adam Sandler you can do better!

I was totally shocked at the use of the "F" word by almost everyone in the movie, at almost every opportunity. My opinion of Adam has gone drastically south. It could have been a cute move without all the vulgar language. My mistake for going to this movie. I will be much more selective in the future.

Honestly, it was a very good movie. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It had a good story line, VERY good acting, and a wonderful cast.
It will throw you off if your going in there expecting to bust a gut laughing. It's not. It's very funny, but not a constant funny like I was expecting.
You walk out thinking you were going to laugh more, so your dissatisfied ... but then you think about it and you are really satisfied with the movie. Go in knowing your going to laugh, but not hysterically, and you will enjoy this movie very much :)
