Although this film could have easily been cut by a half hour, the special effects guys put together some pretty amazing scenes. It was a real stretch that the main characters narrowly escaped disaster after disaster (in a couple of truly unbelieveable ways!), but overall the movie was a great piece of mindless entertainment for a holiday weekend getaway. It won't win him an Oscar, but I'm not likely to forget Woody Harrelson's 'crazy' character for a long time.

The special effects were good, but the movie really was not. It was predictable, unrealistic, and had no scientific foundation. Why was the government in a state of panic, when they had years to prepare? The evacuation of the president, VP, and cabinet is an automatic process, so how can the White House now know where they were? How can a solar flair heat up the core, but not the ocean? Lastly, how can all the damage, acid rain, etc, all go away after just 27 days? At end, what were they going to do with the wild animals? With no food outside, what do you thing the lions, and other carnivorous, will do for supper?

Action scenes and special effects were very good. The plot was fair at best. There was very little mention of the whole Mayan/Nostadameus Dommesday od 2012 which is what attracted me in the first place

2012 has to be the most remarkable movie ever made. The CG effects were absolutey awesome. Unlike previous special effects movies this one has a very good story line that keeps your interests throughout the entire film. It had great CG, fun characters, and a lot of action sequences. It was a bit too long, but considering the world was supposed to be ending, it was worth waiting to see how the movie brought everything to a close.

This movie had a lot of good aspects to it that made it a good movie. First of all, it was entertaining. There was some comedy in it. Also, the graphics of the movie was amazing. How the world came to an end was amazing. Also, the characters had a lot of emotion in the story. I have to say, it made me get a little teary eyed. This film, for someone who enjoys a great script, some good cinematograhy and fantastic acting, is AWFUL. It was almost as funny as poseidon. Wouldn't recommend it. like a wild ride at universal studios. the film virtually exploded into a raccous ride with john cusack's family attempting to survive an imploding planet. sometime in the first 38 minutes i unexpectedly laughed out loud for the first time when the escape vehicle - a stretch limo - drove into one of hundreds of collapsing/exploding buildings. there was a millisecond pause, the building slow motion disintegrated then suddenly, the cusack limo burst through the mayhem completely intact and continued to roar through it's fantastical escape. never a dull moment but due to the peppered goofiness, no genuine suspense. simply crazy cinematic fun watching john cusack (perfect) save his family from the special effects.

I am a devout Christian, and did not find anything in this movie that bothered me. Sure it is a fantasy movie about the end of the world. I found it very easy to settle back and be drawn in to the story line and special effects and just sit back and enjoy the show immensely. I will recommend this movie to all my friends, and warn them not to drink a lot while there. It is just a tad long, but worth avery minute.

The set up of the movie was pretty good, but when the action started the movie promptly went into overkill mode. The family was literally seconds from the brink of disaster the whole time yet seemed to be just a step ahead. I don't want to ruin the surprise so I won't go into how overkill went into overdrive in the final minutes of the film. I would not even recommend this movie to people that I didn't like.

This is a long movie that did not feel long at all. The special effects are amazing. The story line is fast paced and exciting. John Cusack is wonderful as usual. Well worth my time and money. I would go to see it again.

Great special effects but WOW was the story line WEAK. In fact, it was plain ridiculous!! You find yourself sitting there thinking "they'd never do that" or "everybody knows that would never happen." The story ends with the certain end of the earth, tectonic plates moving and massive global destruction, complete with tsunamis. Then, in a matter of a month or so, there are nice sunny blue skies and calm seas. To me, it was a stupid movie.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

If you are going to this movie to see spectacular special effects then it is an awesome movie. If you are going to this movie to see a great story and good character development then don't bother going. Danny Glover as the president just didn't cut it for me. But Woody Harrelson's character was great.

I figured going in the story line and ultimate ending of the movie would be relatively the same as all other "Apocalyptic" type movies (which it was).... but I had to go to see the effects.
The effects are great. So much to take in and there were a couple of times I actually felt like I was in the plane with the family. Woody Harrelson cracked me up!!! Totally fun!
I might even go see it again!
