If you have watched the trailers for this movie you know it's a thrill ride; and usually that means the plot will not be why you are attending. It is engaging, phenomenal imagery. The last 20 minutes of the movie slowed to a crawl with way to much schmaltz, which impaired the mounting last scene tension. But who cares! It's got the greatest CGI and real-time effects of any movie to date. Go see it and have fun!

This movie was well planned and well written. No parts of this movie you want to miss. It makes you laugh and it makes you cry. This movie is a wake up call and I concur. If you've seen the trailers you should know what to expect -- amazing special effects, cheesy Hollywood moments and not the strongest plot. If you go in with that kind of expectation, it's an awesome movie. It was the first flick I've watched in the D-BOX seats and I couldn't think of a better movie to showcase them. It was like a 2 1/2-hour thrill ride with some drama thrown in.

Let's face it, this is a end all disaster movie. I expected over the top shots, stunts that are unattainable, and lines and images tha offer a chuckle.
What I wanted out of this movie was to be in the edge of my seat, connect with the characters, and leave havng enjoyed my time in the theatre. It did exactly that.
I was a bit surprised with the "President", he will always the Preditor Hunter to me.

A stunning array of disaster scenes in which horrified parents and their children witness countless people being snuffed out while barely managing to escape death themselves each time. This movie is overlong, over ridiculous, and under written. If there is a moral, it's that we should be kind in our last days, even though I somehow doubt those who have actually planned for this disaster scenario would feel that way, should the event occur. To sum up, it's a fantasy in which presidential protocols are ignored, science is ignored, and a plot is ignored. What more could you expect from a Roland Emmerich movie? Stay home. Be with your kids, and try not to scare the s*** out of them by going to this mess.

Was this movie visually impacting? Of course. Was it non-stop action and excitement? Yes. Was it a typical disaster flick? Unforunately, yes. The problem I have with 2012 is not the the visuals, the acting or even the paper-thin plot, it's the fact that after you see an hour of things getting destroyed, the last hour and a half doesn't even make you bat an eyelash. How many times can you stare at wonder as the main characters survived impossible situations? Probably twice, but by the fifth time it gets ridiculous. It's a good popcorn flick, but going into it expecting amazement will leave you disappointed.

Some folks don't believe that the end of the world is coming in 2012, because it isn't, but I can probably say that somethings will start to happen. That's based off of what I believe in and some others may come to their own conclusions. The movie was wonderful to watch in the sense of visual effects. It made you stop and wonder could any of this really happen though. Overall it was a visual stunning movie, even though it may have been the typical disaster movie it kept you in it from beginning to end.

In a surprising bit of lucidity, Emmerich's science is built on good scientific notions used entirely out of proportion and with one or two notable goofs. I was able to mostly ignore the Bad Science and enjoy the plotline of the film, simple and predictable as it was, but I can promise you that if you are (or go with) a geologist or physicist, they're going to spend significant parts of the movie laughing at dramatically inappropriate moments... If I (a physicist) can, I'm going to go see it again with my mother (a geologist)

What bothers me about movies like 2012 is, while spectacular special effects abound, it makes me think who the heck would want to survive? As in the other Roland Emmerich blockbusters they end before the gruesome and arduous time to get back to something resembling normal. Almost everybody dies in this movie and the few that survive will have to try and rebuild. Recovery the day after 2012 seems very unlikely and not much fun. Just the feel good pick-me-up the country needs!

this was one of the best sci-fiction movies i've seen in my entire life. Best part is this a real thing which ,mayans,hindus even a french guy predicted so it gives you a thing where you can see what these people predict except it's shows tons of action. the only problem is people under 9 cant watch it is a little too scary for kids below the age of 9
