I could not sit still because of all the close calls they had avoiding falling buildings and ground coming out from underneath them. When they were in the planes at different times trying to escape it looked so real the special effects was off the charts.

Whether the timeline is true or not, this film did not a good job of leading into the year 2012 and the special effects were unbelievably awesome. The acting was great and the movie left you on the edge of your seat, the time sure went fast and the plot progressed quite well.

While it's an amazing display of the special effects modern technology can offer the movie viewer, the plot was weak and the dialogue rather inane. Still, as long as people don't think it's science or fact or 'revelation', and enjoy it for its (slight) entertainment value, it's worth seeing just for the special effects that are used. However, it's a movie that can fan the Armageddon-hungry fires of the already overheated fanatic religious groups, doubtlessly, which seems ludicrous but also dangerous.

I thought this movie was a great time. Very entertaining and even made you think. The effects were incredible and the story easy to follow. I left the theater with that same "Wow" feeling I had after seeing Armageddon for the first time. Awesome.

Special effects are awesome! Storyline is a bit unreal, but worth every penny for the big screen. This is NOT a movie for kids. Having 3 ages 5-9, no matter how much "explaining" you do, it is too young to have them watch movies where people are wiped out in masses and cruel to expose them to that many death scenes involving the personal characters of the movie. The rating is there for a reason and is really a lure for morons who can't afford a sitter AND a movie to keep the money rolling in (less attracts more, not meaning it is appropriate). Unless you love contributing to the desensitization of todays generation leave them at home or wait until it comes out on video and watch it after they are in bed.

I went to the movie to see the destruction and wasn't disappointed. However, it was another typical end of the world movie where the hero should have died about 50 times, but miraculously gets out of every jam. Some of the story lines were hard to believe, but overall, it was entertaining.

This was a good film, excellent special effects and excellent action. The acting is good and there are some good tear-jerker moments. That being said, the film was entirely possible to make WITHOUT the political statements that were made. The science is NOT plausible, but it is a movie and not reality. If you can forget the science and the politics, it is visually excellent and fun to watch.

While the plot line with Cusack is a bit cheezy... the special fx are very good. the movie is longer than it really needs to be and I found that it slowed a couple of time... however it is on the edge of your seat action a good deal of the time.

This would have been much better had they left a 1/3 of the movie on the floor of the film editor. Just too bloated ... the special effects at times were almost laughable in their absurdity. Even the dialog during "dramatic" moments caused me to have the opposite effect of what was intended. It's disappointing that most of the over-hyped movies coming out fall short of living up to the hype. I realize it's all about making money and, yes, I'm sure this movie will make a ton and a good share of the world's population will find it entertaining at a purely sensory level. Wait for the DVD ... then you can break it up into more digestable segments.

The special effects in this movie were awesome... However I made the mistake of going to see the movie thinking it could just be a look into our future based on all the stuff were hearing from scientist so when I realized that im probably not going to be in a limo soaring over huge open holes in the earth I realized I should just sit back and enjoy the special effects and the fictional story from that point forward. It is a long movie but for me it seemed to move faster that expected!

It wasn't bad, but the destruction gets a little repetitive and everything goes from being tense, but ok, to completely falling apart in a snap. Woody Harrelson steals the show for the few minutes he's in the movie. All in all, entertaining, but not worth the $9/ticket. I would've been fine renting it from a Redbox.

The movie is way to long and very slow to start. I will say the action was good when it was happening and the special effects very cool. It is not as intense as the trailers make it out to be. I did stay for the entire movie, but it was not worth the money I paid.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

My wife and I went to the First Colony AMC, luckily or not I pre-purchased the tickets. Opening night the theater was full, we had to sit in the first row, you just can't get the full impact of the special effects in the first row. This is a movie you want to see on the full screen. It definitely was intense! We'll probably see it again when the rush is over. My only advice is don't even try to watch it in the front section, they shouldn't have seats so close to begin with, felt a little cheated of all the movie had to offer. We did get there 40 minutes before the scheduled showing, wait a couple of weeks, you'll really enjoy this one!

You walk out of the theater thinking... How do you get an entire audience to laugh while watching humanity burn, drown or plunge to their death? Brilliantly... bits of campy dialog allow the release of those thoughts and let you just enjoy the ride. I was tense with slight feeling of vertigo. Absolute fun for those who can separate entertainment from reality...not for kids. BTW there is one look by Woody that, if for no other reason, makes the movie worth it....watch for a wild eyed sideway glance, its brief, but classic crazy !!

As a story, it was mildly interesting. The special effects are definitely the star of the show. The characters were OK - not particularly engaging. The science behind it is as ridiculous as DAY AFTER TOMORROW. Writing is so often underemphasized in movies. This movie will do fine, but it would be STAR WARS kind of successful if the producers had said, "let's get a really good writer!"
