I dont know why others are so put off by the length of this movie, it was worth the whole amount of time, 2 of the 4 of us didnt want to get up to go to the bathroom, we didnt want to miss a thing. The beginning jumped into the suspense a little too quickly, which made it unrealistic. The graphics are great at most parts. The story line was interesting and a little slow at some points, yet very unbelievable and frightening at the same time. I wouldn't recommend seeing this movie late at night like we did. We didn't get out until 2:30 in the morning, which was our fault for not anticipating that it would be almost 3 hours long!

You do get what you paid for in terms of 'end of the world' scenarios. And while maybe not true, you can appreciate the underlying satire. Lets face it, the ones who got saved were either super rich or heads of state. So in a real scenario where its every man for himself, I bet reality would leave the little guy behind too. Seeing California slide into the ocean was probably the 'oh my God' scene for me.

Signifying, not nothing, but not much either.
This is the standard disaster film that shows human nature at its worst and best when crisis comes. Roland Emmerich is an expert at destorying the (fictional) world and making us want to come along for the ride. Plus it's always interesting to see how he intends to destroy the White House in his disaster films (Blown up, Flooded and Dropping an aircraft carrier on it).
My complaint, as always, seems to be on the character side, in this case building a relationship that would be a very positive example of two men making the best of a bad (if common) situation and reach out to each other as unlikely friends for the sake of family only to have one of them written out in the end. Not cool.

I have seen previous reviews and did not expect much from the movie. I saw with my family. My 10 year son loved the movie. We never felt the movie was long. Although the concept of the movie is not true, you may believe for a while it is happening. The plan to escape should have been better. Being a big fan of the disaster movie genre and pretty much a fan of Roland Emmerich and his visions he creates for us on the screen, I have to say this movie delivers exactly what it is trying to. You will be glued to your seat and your jaw will drop throughout this roller coaster ride. Yes the science is not valid but who cares. If I want reality, I watch the Science Channel's Universe. This was pure entertainment from start to finish. No Academy award nominations for the actors (though Woody H is hilarious) and though a bit too dramatic a la DEEP IMPACT, but all in all, if you liked Day After Tomorrow, you will love this movie!

Went to see this flick with a friend last night. She LOVED it, but I thought it was quite reminiscent of the 70's big disaster flicks like Airport 77, Towering Inferno, etc. As other reviewers have noted, there were great computer generated effects, so kudos to the actors who spent lots of time in front of green screens which couldn't have been easy, and a lot of suspense - "oh, no, will they make it??" - but it was a pretty formulaic adventure. In-theater daiquiries were good, though!!

My friend and I just watched this movie last night at the Magestic. This movie definitely kept you interested, We both enjoyed it, however, the movie went from 7:15 until 10pm. The magestic is a wonderful theater, with their ice cream shop, bar, dinner theater and concession stand, it more than likely has anything that you would be in the mood for.

Very disappointed. Glad we went on Bargain Tuesdays! 3 adults, all felt it totally BLEW! If you have a high def TV and surround sound it might be worth watching when it comes out on DVD.

I thought it was stupendous! Great action. It's 2 hrs and 38 mins long and I would have sat and watched it again. I'll recommend it to everyone I know. I thought it was even better than The Day After Tomorrow... which I enjoyed as well. I know the world won't end this way but it was very entertaining.
