As in, the characters just aren't credible. It's the end of life as we know it and most of the main characters are calm, cool, and collected. The lukewarm pyroclastic cloud was especially noteworthy in that the temperature of that thing would have exceeded 700 degrees, and yet WHOOOSH out flies the twin-engine plane, no problemo! LOL~ Anyways, yea the special effects were pretty cool; but the plot wasn't so hot. I expected scenes of the Earth being ripped apart in a black hole, followed by a big, "THE END." But what we got was 300,000 very selfish people getting shipwrecked on a 2-1/2-hour tour of the Himalayas... :-/

i went to watch this movie excited by the commercials for it. i was so disappointed by all of it, they should have cut the time in half and played just what they showed in the previews and they would have gotten a better rating. it was long, slow, and if you want to see the good parts of this movie, all you have to do is turn or your television and watch the preview for it.

'2012' is like all previous disaster and apocalyptic movies rolled into one, with Biblical proportions and similarities, and filmed with today's best computer generated images. I would have given it five stars, but some of the narrow escapes were unrealistic, especially in the case of scenes involving the various vehicles used. The pace was disappointing at first because it started out slow, but once it got rolling, it was excellent. There were some very touching moments also, as people lost or found loved ones, and when some sacrificed themselves for the sake of others. I high recommend seeing this one in a theater to get the full effect.

It was an exciting movie. Something is happening nearly every minute. I enjoyed it well enough but, as in most movies of this genre, there is not much plot or character development. As far as the "science" part of it is concerned, it's pretty far-fetched and plays to the sympathies of the apocalypse-crowd. Nevertheless, it was fun to watch.

As mentioned in other reviews it was a bit too long. I think that was really the only flaw to this movie. Of course some scenes were unrealistic but that comes with the territory of being a disaster film. Much better than The Day After Tomorrow from the same director although I also enjoyed that one. You must like cheesy and campy disaster movies to really enjoy this one. I would rank it top 5 at least in disaster movies, maybe even top 3. Great popcorn flick and do not go in expecting an Oscar worthy story line or acting, if you do you are dumb for even buying a ticket in the first place.

This movie is so hollywood, it's not even funny. Half of the movie is unrealistic, and there should have been more action scenes. The characters were horrible except for the Dr.. Great for a family night out. The special effects were amazing, the plot was decent with characters that you care about, and the actors were good. People cheered when the first round of crazy special effects happened and the movie had you on the edge of your seat many times. It is long, though, so don't drink to many liquids before and skip the giant movie soda. This movie was much better than The Day After Tomorrow.

If you like other diaster movies than you will more than likely be in for a good one in this thrill ride. An edge-of-your seat movie that keeps you on your toes the whole time. The special effects were amazing, the acting was fair, and they did a good job with the plot. The only thing was in some scences they outstretched it a little to much and it made those scences to hard to believe. With that time they outstrectched, they could of talked about more of what happened in the central US or possibly what happened in Europe. Other than that it was a thrill ride that which definately made for a great film.
