After the hassle with the online movie ticket purchase was finally resolved by the management at Bay Plaza AMC cinemas (they were disorganized beyond belief).. the movie ended up being a good show... as usual in the Bronx people tend to shout their reactions to the screen. It was fun though.. the movie was long but gave my friend and I lots to talk about.

I love end of the world as you know it movies, so this one was perfect. Great special effects. I loved the Bible references in the movie like naming the "ships" Arks. I did notice that they showed destruction of every major religious icons except Islamic. All in all my husband and I enjoyed the movie. It was a nice night out for us.

The visual effects are what makes this movie. The story lines and relationships are a bit weak and the acting, for the most part, is not very believable. It appears the headline actors are out for having a bit of fun making the movie and don't really draw you into the story.
About 2 hours into the movie, it started to drag and lose my attention, with the ending being a bit predictable and anti-climactic.
Still, worth seeing, if only to be thoroughly entertained and wowed by the cinematography.

Very much what was expected in regards to the overall storyline and plausibility, especially knowing the other Emmerich movies. There were many unnecessary tear-jerker parts that I could have done without. More crazy-acting Woody Harrelson and less drama and the special effects alone would have made me buy this when it's released, but as it stands the tear-jerker moments and ending didn't do it for me.

I'm not much of a scifi person, but I took my 12 year old son and we both really enjoyed this movie. The special effects were GREAT! The movie had action, adventure, scifi, romance and a little comedy. Its long 2 hours 38 mins, but it didn't seem like it while you were there. This movie didn't stray much from the formula. Overall, the special effects were the only thing that really made this worth seeing, otherwise it would literally be no different than your typical Sci-Fi channel end-of-the-world movie. The first half was exciting and great to look at, and the second half was lackluster and disappointing. My main complaint is that they went weak on the ending. Great cast, loved John Cusack & Danny Glover; Oliver Platt was excellent. Plotline pretty skinny. Great science exposure which is always a good thing. Tremendous effects. Global type of scope, also good. Looking forward to his production of The Fantastic Voyage! I personally thought the initial portrayal/depiction of John Cusack's character as "bumbling wanna-be dad with an amusing good heart," shamed regularly by the mother of his children, and Amanda Peet's character as "the natural and obvious better parent" to be banal and unnecessary and too consistent with the depiction of men (misandry) in the media.

Suspension of disbelief aside, I found the movie a fun ride with good special effects, good action, some comic relief and some decent performances. I'd put it in the same category as Con Air (another action flick w/John Cusack), although 2012 didn't have quite as many big-time stars in it as Con Air (which had Malkovich, Buscemi, Cage, and a couple of others). Woody Harrelson was entertaining in this. If you like action flicks in general, this is a good one and worth seeing on a giant screen. If you hate action flicks, don't bother. If you're in between, it's your call whether to wait for DVD or TV.

I was not really interested in seeing this movie but went along with family. I felt that the movie was interesting and had great action. I thought it was slow starting but really picked up. There was not much in the way of bad language and nothing that I saw as inappropriate. Myself, I did not find the movie to be predictable as there were main characters that had bad things happen to them, but more than anything the movie kept my interest. I do look forward to the DVD coming out. I'll be buying this one.
