I was not sure what to expect from director McG but after seeing this movie I have to give him his props. The action stays true to the series and at times pushes the envelope. The relentless pursuit of the machines was captured very well. I felt a small drag in the story and I had a few questions that still remained at the films end. For a Memorial Day matinee, not a bad choice.

Special Effects were good. That's about where any praise of this film should end. The dialogue was thin, the story laughable, and the performances grating. A Governator cameo? Gimme a break. I was a huge Terminator 1 & 2 fan, and then they made 3 which they should NEVER have made....it defeated the whole purpose of 1 & 2. but since they DID make 3, it definitely opened the door up for 4. Christian Bale and Anton Yelchin were fine, Sam Worthington was great, but Byce Dallas Howard was like a fish out of water in this movie - not to mention that there was no reason for her character in the movie at all. there was plenty of action, perhaps at the expense of more story telling, but if you can force yourself to 'suspend your disbelief' you can still have an enjoyable 'escape' at the movie theater.

The title offers up what this sequel attempts to do for the Terminator franchise and unfortunately it failed. CG and some of the action sequences were great but the storyline left much to be desired. There were scenes that brought back flashbacks from the previouse three installments but that was not enough to spark genuine interest in this movie.

Way better than T3. Better story. I've been waiting for the war to be visualized in it's entirety since I first saw the flashback(forward) scenes in T1 and T2. Leaving it open at the end for a sequel or more was great. Bale was a great Connor. Anton Yelchin was a good Reese because he's a young actor portraying a young character, both still coming into their own.

Of course I love all things related to Terminator! This installment was better than the 3rd release. I did enjoy the plot dealing with terminator/human twist. Sam Worthington was great! I thought the "Arnold" recreation was priceless! Of course, the ending left things open to another installment. Overall great flick!!

I was pretty much done with the Terminator franchise after the third one and wasn't really expecting much when they decided to reboot it, but what a surprise! The movie was really good and as usual Christian Bale was fantastic, a great choice to play John Connor. Sam Worthington is a find as Marcus and I hope to see more of him. The only problem I had with the casting was the kid who played Kyle Reece. He was way to young and baby-faced for the part; when he was trying to be tough it was almost comical. Great movie overall though and I would definitely recommend it.

Have you ever felt like the people who made the movie you're watching ran out of time or money, like they had to speed up the production process to make deadlines? Although quite visually striking with excellent sound effects and editing, Terminator Salvation lost sight of the whole. This was pretty good. It is violent because they are at war. It's not especially gory. Although, there is one 20 second scene. This is before the machines had the technology to send terminators back in time. Otherwise, it's just as if it were happening right now. There's no new technology. They could have done a better CG of Arnold, he definitely looked fake. All in all, the movie's good. There is definitely a good twist at the end.

The most intense acting and action of the T-Series. The "high volume" sound effects may leave your ears ringing. The action, CGI and other special effects were well worth seeing the movie. Worthington and Bale were incredible yet the script missed on emotionally connecting with the audience. The “Second Chance” concept was verbally identified several times but not emotionally. The father son plot between Connor and Kyle never evolved emotionally with the audience. Overall it was a great transitional movie in the Terminator series, I just hope they don't make us wait to long to see where they are going with the T series or despite the weak plot, the great acting and special effects from T- Salvation will be lost.

My wife and I saw Terminator Salvation over the Memorial Day weekend and were thoroughly disappointed at the lack of character development. There's only one significant storyline and no new revelations about SkyNet or John Connor. We were fans of previous Terminator movies, but this one doesn't measure up. The movie moves from one set of gunfire and explosions to the next. There is so little effort put into character development, that you don't really root for John Connor or anyone else. You just sit and watch the explosions.
Very disappointing. Save your money.

Piece of advice : Watch the movie without any preconceived notions.
Overall: As a fan of sci-fi action, I really enjoyed this movie.
Effects: The effects were top notch. The Harvester machine sequence looked great.
Characters: The character development felt rushed (and in some cases, non-existent). Christian Bale did a solid job as John Connor, but his script could have used more depth. Much of his time on screen is in action sequences, which understandably, makes it hard to progress the character.
Storyline: If you are looking for answers to questions raised from previous films, put those to the side and wait for the next one.

I am so tired of these "fan boys" & "haters" alike tearing down the movie. Pointing out what they consider bad acting and plot holes. 1st off, I go to the movies to enjoy them, not bring a pad of paper and pay attention to EVERY stupid detail looking for flaws. How can you enjoy a movie by doing that? Kyle did say they cant move by day in the 1st one, but guess what, he was in his early 30's by then. In this movie he is a teenager, so apparently things chnaged in that time span. In SALVATION there were not FLESH COVERED T-800's yet either. So stuff changes, evolves, whatever. Cut them some slack and just sit back and enjoy it for the visual eye candy that it is. You bunch of cinematic SNOBS!

The third star is for bringing Arnold back, albeit as a CG image. Otherwise it was just another day in LALA Land. The scary part was the ending, where we're being told that it isn't over yet. Is another Terminator imminent? Please don't.

Lot's of action in sci-fi movies are what makes them good. You really had to have seen all of the previous terminators in order to get a full understanding of certain events that happen in the movie. At one point I got the old "Matrix" vibe from it. Far from a dull or boring movie. Go see it.

Oh heck, discard everything you know about Terminator all together and come into this film with low expectations. You will notice some familiar things that reminisce, but it's presented more along the lines of the director paying homage rather than creating continuity to the actual Terminator world. There are a few more inconsistencies through out the movie, but you guys can find them yourselves. They also should have stuck with the original plan to make John Conner NOT the main focus, but rather a supporting character. Should have focused more on Marcus instead and pry into his psyche. Other than that, just enjoy the special effects and the newest (bad@ss) rendition looking T-800's.

Not a great Flick, but by no means a bad one. The action is pretty intense and sticks to established mythos pretty close. Needed better pacing and in some points better scripting to make it a great movie.
