I have been an "Arnie" fan ever since Commando (a joke of a movie though). Terminator Salvation was action packed! This is mindless visual excitement. I loved the special effects. If you saw the other Terminators, then you have to see this one. It stretches a bit since Arnie is no longer one of the leading characters. But you can say he makes a cameo:-)

This movie seemed to have so much going for itself at first except for one little thing: "It Was All Too Predictable." It's like being shown a Terintino movie where the ending is shown first, and you move back to the critical moment that started the whole darn thing. Lets also not forget some weird "movie only" elements as well. In the end the terminators factory explodes along with a radioactive element that could nuke the entire zone. All we see is a huge black cloud with the stars of the film leaving. Where's the mushroom cloud? Why aren't they dead? Movie was the worst 8.50 I ever spent.

This terminator was no T2 but had a lot of action, lacked in dialogue did not lack explosions. You didn't have time to care about the characters and that is what made it not a 5 star movie for me. If your looking for a great summer flick this would be it!!

I've seen all the Terminator films and liked them. Of course the first was the best. Now we're far down the road in sequel land and McG is no James Cameron. Its not a bad movie, but its lacking in self mocking humor and real suspense. The action is continuous and the CGI is interesting with the introduction of new killing machines.
As in the Dark Night, Christian Bale is again overshadowed by a supporting actor, Sam Worthington. Anton Yelchin who was terrific in Star Trek is ok as the teenage Kyle.
You leave the theater thinking it was exciting, but it could have been more. In spite of it all, when the next one comes out, I'll be back.

Not that I was expecting too much out of this, and I didn't get much out of it. I thought the casting of Christian "WHAT DON'T YOU F***** UNDERSTAND" Bale, for once, was wrong. I simply did not buy him as John Connor, as I did when he was Batman/Bruce Wayne. And, that ruined it for me. I also thought that Anton Yelchin, another fine actor (who was much better as Chekov in the new STAR TREK), was irritating. As for the rest, nice effects, but no substance. Nice references to the previous three films though.

This movie went back to the original feel, no "Hasta la vista baby" or "John, now I know why you cry", my God, I watched T2 again before going to Salvation and just about puked. I love the Termintor series but 2 and 3 went for the family audience and I think Arnold wanted to stretch his acting muscles and wanted to be liked, they really forgot what terminators are supposed to be, machines. Salvation was back to the gritty feel, war, survival and termination. Sam Worthington did a great job, Christian Bale did a good job and the supporting cast was good as well. Overall I'd give this movie a "B" and if you, like me, think that the original is the best of the first three and that 2 & 3 were too soft, then this movie is what you need.

I went in with low expectations- but I can honestly say this is the Best Terminator yet!
I know that's hard to hear- but the acting (especially Sam Worthington and the guy who plays Kyle) and story progression is great. The mood and setting really fits and is much better than previous visions of "the future" as portrayed in other Terminator films.
This is worth seeing in a good theater- the sound is AWESOME- you won't be disappointed.
Glad to hear director Mc G has been already green lit to direct the next one!

I really enjoyed this movie. lots of action, which is all I really need. bale was excellent in the movie, as usual though he was doing his annoying batman voice at one point. there will definitely be more sequels. the one thing that annoyed me, however, was the ending. I am in the healthcare profession, and so the ending - despite the fantastic nature of the rest of the movie - annoyed me. i know its just a movie, but that seemed the most unlikely part.

The movie should have stuck with the Terminator formula of a basically simple plot, with a single goal or problem. Instead, they tried to do everything and it ends up a mish-mash. And way too much exposition when they should trust us to figure things (anything) out.
John Connor/Christian Bale just comes off like a humorless a-hole, but the two unknown (to me) guys who play Kyle Reese and Marcus Wright were pretty good. And the Marcus actor is a fine looking young man.

It was a great movie, but it had some issues. It focused on the human-terminator more than the other characters. The story draws you to the terminator more than John Connor. It tries too hard to get you to know the other characters but it did not work. The pregnant woman gives you the impression that another movie is on its way just like the baby. It would be interesting if the baby was a terminator. Hmmm... something to think about.

Usually prequels aren't good but this was excellent. Great plot. Excellent special effects. A tear jerker scene at the end. Christian Bale played an excellent John Connor. A great cameo appearance by ... don't want to spoil it for you. A suprisingly good prequel. The time loop physics involving Kyle Reese was "on point". If you like science fiction, go see this movie. It is not just special effects. It has a great plot. You won't be disappointed. I give it an "A".

The new Terminator Movie is all about the "robots" and the special effects are just fantastic. However, I was really disappointed that the plot was so weak. Anton Yelchin's character was superb! Christian Bale as John Connor was fantastic decision. But, having these wonderful actors and not much of a plot line really made the movie ho hum instead of 4 stars. The special effects are the only thing that saved the movie. Bringing "the original terminator back aka Arnold" was a wonderful bit of wizardry. All in all special effects are the only thing that saved this movie. If you just have to see it in the theater wait until it comes on at the Dollar Movies; it is not worth $9.00 to see it in Dolby Digital Surround Sound.

FOR THE DIE HARD TERMINATOR FANS: Your response might be "Eh!, they could have done better with the storyline and expanded on some of the back stories/plots/etc. still will never out do the original." Christian Bale and Sam Worthington carry the movie, but so much more could have been done around the development of their characters.
FOR THOSE WHO CARE LESS ABOUT THE TERMINATOR SERIES: Worth seeing it in the theaters at least once.
See it for yourself and come to your own conclusions.

Although the movie had great effects, it's story line was a bit to be desired. If you want to see it, you'll definitely want to catch it on the big screen. Don't wait for DVD or you'll miss the whole awe-factor of the effects. Helena B. Carter was FAT and horrible. Christian Bale was awesome as always and hot to the final moment.

I have seen better movies, but this one was well done the Special Effects were well done, and the story was well thought out, the only problem was that you had to know the first 3 films to get it, so if you have seen them then sit back and enjoy the show. its worth it.

it was ok to see very painful storyline.. it just did not grasp my attention too well , but did enjoy the terminator cameo best scene yet....
