Thank goodness for this movie. With the show being canceled (bad move) I need my Terminator fix and I got it last night. If you are an eighties baby like me, then this franchise has brought you up like a cyborg nanny. I'm not necessarily an action movie fan, but this movie gave me no choice but to be. Sensory overload, insane camera work (just the opening battle when John crashes the helicopter, my mind was in pain trying to take it in). The mystery man that effectively shares main character rights with Connor, keeps you with questions the entire movie. An instant classic and great set up for what I have heard from reliable sources is to be a new trilogy of movies. They can't stop making these movies till I die. I will see this again, soon.

This movie is filled with tons of action. Any Terminator fan or action enthusiast will be astonished by this film. Christian Bale did an excellent job as John Connor. He portrayed the good-hearted, unwavering leader of the resistance. Co-star, Sam Worthington, as Marcus also had an amazing performance.
The suspenseful journey of Marcus' revelation of his resurrection, the search and rescue mission for the younger Kyle Reese and the hostility and alliance of Marcus and the resistance all combine to create a thriving, solid story. The only part of this movie that lacks is the disappointing ending - it could've been more suspenseful and less cliche.

I was really hoping for better. The trailers were the high points. I think the director should take the blame. After seeing the last Batman, I expected more out of Bale. If you put Michael Ironside in your picture, expect nothing but sucking wind. Now you have son saving daddy who is younger? How? The Marcus character was the best played out and definetly deserves credit for keeping this picture off the one star list. If just like an action movie go see. If you're a hard core fan, you will be disappointed.

I thought it was a really good movie. It was more focused on John saving Kyle in the present in order to make the past happen and in turn, save the future. It was more than just stopping Skynet and that's what I found to be interesting. I really enjoyed it (except for the Arnold-look-alike-terminator, that was kind of cheesy)

The film is far from exceptional with average acting and a sub-standard plotline, but overal the dynamic was solid, the special effects were spectacular with out being cartoony or gimmicky, and the film offered enough little callbacks to the first two movies of the Terminator franchise to leave the theater satisfied. This is a movie to only see once but definitely to see on a big screen.

Terminator Salvation was great. I never thought I see a Terminator movie without Arnold but Salvation does a great job. Lots of action, good story, Christian Bale seems to be the go to guy these days to carry a franchise on his back and each time he outdoes himself. The only thing about this movie in my opinion is that it needs to be watched more then once to truly understands things to the fullest. Oh and one last thing. McG did awesome with those camera angles man! I felt ike I was right there!

if your looking for an action movie this is a good one. however the plot is lacking. first of all the machines could not possibly know who john connors father was or is (kyle Reece) so how is it he is targetted for termination the whole movie when he tells sarah in the first movie that nobody knows who the father was they dont even know sarahs full name! also how do the machines know to target john himself? he is not the resistence leader yet? they could not possibly know that! that part of the story makes know sence at all. and the very ending was predictable to me as well! nice action and cameo by arnolds likeness though!

Terminator Salvation was an average movie. Sam Worthington as Marcus Wright was one of few bright spots. The first hour and thirty minutes reminded me more of Mad Max than Terminator. The movie did not look futuristic and the machines and weapons were old and out dated. The future just didn't feel like the future to me and Skynet did not look like the super intelligent computer system that tried to kill off man kind as shown in the previous Terminator films.

I was sooooooooo excited and amped about this movie. I purchased my ticket in advance to go see the 12:01am showtime on a work night. I sat at the movies and watched with disappointment. Great title, very fitting...since this film saved the franchise from the total annihilation it was heading towards after the 3rd movie. Great storyline, made all the pieces fall into place from the prior 3. Can't wait for the next 3 movies to come out.

I have been to a number of midnight openings this year (Wolverine, Star Trek, etc.). This was the first movie that did not dissappoint me so much to wish I'd stayed in bed. The action was good, with a couple of gotcha moments, but the message of retaining humanity (not fighting like the machines) in the midst of war seemed a bit overplayed. Also the frantic camera shaking and blurry fight scenes seemed like an attempt to save someCGI money, but it comes at the expense of near motion-sickness. Probably not a must se in Imax. It isn't the groundbreaking movie that T2 was for the franchise but I'll probably see it again.

Since James Cameron, the Terminator franchise has stomped into theaters a couple times but has not been able to replicate his grasp on telling a story about humanity.
This movie isn't the botched Terminator 3, and mercifully ignores it. It presents artifacts from T1, but not the desperate loneliness and to be clear: this movie wasn't trying to be T4. It was more like a war story.
Its strongest suits are competent actors, indulgent CG action sequences and a moderately quick pace. It doesn't adhere to themes or storyline as well as the Cameron versions, but it is a visual feast. You could do worse for a ticket this summer.

Good movie! If you are a Terminator fan you will enjoy it. Lots of action but not at the expense of the plot. The last few minutes are a little WTF but a good movie with an interesting storyline. Marcus' character was very good. Bale uses his Batman voice a little too much.
I don't get all the hate and bad reviews - it was definitely better than Trek. Like any movie with time travel, if you use too much logic, you will not only drive yourself crazy but not enjoy the movie either.

If you are a Fans of the series then you will not be disappointed, because with all the action comes the subtle references to T2 and T1.
You will also love how the story telling follows the same design of T2 with a bunch of nice little surprises any Terminator fan would be excited about!
It does have it's slow moments, but they are necessary for the development and the foreshadowing of the next 2 movies that will eventually finish this series.
All in all you have to give McG a standing ovation for revitalizing a series that has gone into hibernation for a decade and allowing it to kick a $$. Fans will not be disappointed!

I went in to this movie thinking that it was going to suck horribly, but it really wasn't that bad. Salvation had great action and some of the best CG I've seen! However the story was lacking and failed to get you to care about the characters (with the exception of Marcus Wright). I think he is the one that really saved this story if he wasn't in it the movie would sucked. The only thing was I couldn't tell if this movie was about John Connor or Marcus.
Also the fight scene at the end was awesome, and the ending was a surprise.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The film never drags, but it doesn't really find its way until after the first hour. Enjoy the action sequences during the first hour -- pay closer attention later. I counted at least 5 obvious references to the other Terminator films. How many can you find? Is this a Terminator future reboot? Yes -- but not nearly as good as the Star Trek reboot. Standout performance from Sam Worthington as Marcus Wright. Her role is small and silent, but I expect to see more of Jadagrace in the coming years. There's been a setup for a sequel, but I'm not sure this franchise has more left in it.

Am a big movie fan, and take movies for what they are, go to an action flick to see action..drama to see acting etc. Well, I have to say the trailers hyped this movie up so well and the movie sucked. Acting was terrible at times laughable, after seeing the tv series hoped this would match, the tv show is better. Movie was poorly made, action was nothing new and if you've seen the trailer you've seen the best of it....bummer

Worthington, Moon Bloodgood, and Bryce Dallas Howard kicked a**! Bale, not so much. He seem uncomfortable and out of place. Love Bale but I would argue that he is not the lead, Sam Worthington is. Having such a big name, recognizable actor in a support role is just …. awkward. The scene where terminator Marcus offers his heart to save John Connor …. was just so trite, cute, and wrapped things up neatly. Puke! Did Conner actually accomplish his supposed mission of saving all the human prisoners? Did ALL of them escape before the place went up in flames? Was the ‘jamming signal’ capabilities actually for real, or just an elaborate ruse to blow up a submarine of old guys? Sigh, well as long as John Connor all right, who cares?

No wonder Bale was moody on the set. This movie sucked. Misleading trailer--poorly conceived, acted, and directed---laughable at some points---just bad. I've never seen Bale act so badly before. Annoying cliched characters galore that you don't care about. Everything that you ever wanted to see in the war with the machines you will NOT find here. You will only find a sleep inducing plot about "second chances". Long gone are the days of T1 and T2. The series concluded with T3 for me.
