the movie is good but not excellent. Christian Bale is a total miscast and there would be plenty of actors better for the role of John Connor than him, he does not feel like John Connor to me personally. What the heck was with the animation? There is better animation in X-men, Star Trek etc, most of the animated scenes looked like video game not like high class movie animation. Also the whole setting of the movie did not look BIG. As when you see the "terminator city" where the terminators are produce, it looks just SMALL and not really epic or scary at all. You also totally see when they use animation and when real metal and it did NOT look good.

This movie was awesome. I'm not one for over doing sequels or prequels but this was amazing. The graphics were superb! The theater erupted in cheering when :The Terminator" showed up on screen. Recommended highly for everyone!

I am not an avid Terminator fan - I just went with friends to see what looked like a good movie. I was absolutely drawn in and spent the entire movie wide-eyed. I've never been to a movie where you felt the sounds of helicopter blades in your chest!
Non-stop action. I think the producers did great things with sound as well as visual effects, and it enhanced the whole experience. I can still hear the sound of the machines in my head the next morning.
I did find myself making comparisons to other movies: Fantastic Four, a hint of The Matrix, and hints of "I've seen this before" but I can't put a name on it. However, there were some good plot twists so that the movie was not entirely predictable.

So this movie pretty brought the Salvation to the series again from it's slip up of T3. Christian Bale's performance as the legendary John Connor was phenominal as well as Sam Worthington with his as Marcus Wright. I think Marcus developed greatly through the movie. I was disappointed in no way by this movie.

This movie was a blowout of eye candy and visual effects. It surpassed all of my predetermined notions of what this would be. I was on the edge of my seat the whole movie. I recommend this to the first timers and the hardcore fans.

By the look of the previews for Terminator Salvation, I had high expectations for this movie. The action was pretty intense and the SFX were very well done. Lots of really cool camera shots and cool technology. What disappointed me most about this movie was its extreme predictability, and occasional cheesy dialogue especially in the end.
References to previous installments of the series felt forced and "last minute."
If not for Christian Bale (resurrected Batman franchise), I probably would have waited to rent it on DVD.
They could have done a better job with this movie. I expected to see something a little more original, that's all.

It was interesting that a half human breed on the terminator was made by the enemy.
There was no explaination to how they infitrated cyberdome with helecopters in the end.
The motivation to kill the human race is never explained either. At least the animatrix did that much.
The one thing they did right is not to leave out all the important details from the past movies. At least the war that was talked about in the previous films actually happened.
Still I wasn't left with the same since of awe that I felt with Terminator 2.

This movie was visually stunning, but I feel as though they could have pushed the story a bit more. I went into this movie expecting to see something that would tie all the other movies together, but it really fell short in this department. There really wasn't a lot of character development either. The viewer wasn't really connected with many of the characters or their relationships. The sole "interesting" character is Marcus; but, shouldn't Connor be the star of the show and the person you should most care about? I would give it a 3.5 but I can't so 3 will have to do.

I found that the movie pulled me into the plot intensely. I cared about the main characters. Sam Worthington brought his A game. I thought they did an excellent job making the movie fresh while continuing part of the original story. The action was outstanding. Not just mindless action but action for a cause which I think all people can relate to. I felt the movie speaking to me about humanity. It was thrilling, touching, and intelligent. What more can you ask for?

No time travel, and T1 robots are fragile compared to later robots. Poor hybrid Marcus can't be trusted by either side. Both sides incur losses but will stumble on to the next sequel. Same as Matrix #2: filler material doesn't affect the overall storyline.
SPOILER COMPLAINTS: 1) WHY DIDN' T JOHN USE THE SHUTDOWN SIGNAL INSIDE SKYNET? Signal is on an old static-y SHORTWAVE frequency? Come on. 2) Robots rolling off the assembly line didn't activate in the climax battle. The one Matrix scene (Neo vs hundreds of Smiths) they unwisely chose not to copy. Instead, there's just one Terminator and the Governator, good while he lasts.

I am a fan of the terminator films (except for part 3 and the TV show) and I was pretty sure McG would mess this up somehow, just cuz I believed the hype, but I have to say, I enjoyed the heck out of the movie.
McG turned it out. The action set pieces were great, super fun, the tone of the movie was consistent and I really loved their winks at the original Terminator films. Script problems were sparse, but in all, it was a great popcorn flick for the summer time.
If you go in with low expectations like I did and just check your brain, I'm sure you'll have a great time.

I was a bit hesitant to Christian Bale being John Conner in this movie because he tends to over act. But I rather enjoyed him in this role. The movie has good actors and suprise twists. I really love this lastest installment of Terminator. Even though Arnold is not the main character, it is much better now that he was out. Because Terminator is really all about John Conner and his servival against the Machines. Loved how they now made him the focus!

This is the movie I wanted to see when T3 came out. It keeps you involved and of course has great action sequences. I especially liked the focus on the Marcus character and his conflicted nature, though I did want more background on him. There are minor bits that might have been better served if done differently. For example, Connor's female companion is the Kate character from T3, but her name is only mentioned in passing twice and if you don't know who she is, you'll think she's just "that woman he got pregnant". But like i said, not crucial to the film, just would have been nice. Go see it. You are the Resistance!.

Last night we attended the midnight opening in a theater filled with mostly college age adults. Without question, our group felt that this movie LOST IT. In production, someone forgot that even though the creators kept a story line in their head, somewhere the story that engrosses an audience was lost in editing. Attractive actors, excellent cinematography with lots of action sequences. However, WHO CARES when you are not involved with the event. All of us have seen prior Terminator movies. I really enjoyed the previous Terminator movies, which is probably why
John Connor is a bit player in this movie. The real hero is actor Sam Worthington, who plays a Terminator (Marcus Wright) with a human brain and heart.
The movie feels like someone's fan fiction, because it rewrites canon from the previous films whenever it wants to insert a hero bigger than the savior of Humanity. Heck, this Terminator even gets a girlfriend.
There's plenty of action in this movie, so if that's all you want, fine, go see it. But if you're looking for good characterization, a plot that makes sense, or any semblance of a good ending (the last 15 minutes get especially bad), don't see this movie.

Although I'm not a die hard fan of the Terminator series, I really enjoyed this movie. It kept my attention. The camera angles were interesting. The plot line was interesting and I never felt confused by the story. I'd recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys sci-fi action films.

I felt this was a good movie that tied the series all together. Somethings that were used seemed cliche and the surprise character was nicely done.

As a Terminator fan, I noticed a few plot holes as I was watching it, but McG had said in some featurettes that he was taking some creative liberties with the story. Besides, the story McG was telling and the cool action scenes made up for them. It's debatable that anybody would really notice the plot holes anyway. Some of my friends noticed them and some didn't. Overall, Salvation's a straight up action flick that makes up for the teeny few inconsistencies with the storyline with all the other subtle shout-outs to the original fans. I rank it 3rd out of all the Terminator movies so far, and I definitely recommend seeing it.

I was surprised by the solid content of this film. It was substantial. This was a "down and dirty" Terminator. I loved the style and feel of the movie. You got the impression that this could actually happen. Christian Bale gave a solid performance. This is his niche and he showed why. I was thrilled with the fact that there was something for old and new Terminator fans alike. The director did a great job of mixing past and future to make an explosive present day. I was in line at 11pm on Wednesday to see the 12:01am showing of this film and I was not disappointed. This is a must see film. X-Men Origins: Wolverine and Star Trek are hard summer acts to follow but this bad boy is “in it to win it”. Enjoy!

look dont get me wrong. I by no means hated this movie. It was a fun night out & I recommend everyone at least go check this out on a nice big screen. after 2 hours I almost felt like the movie never had a point. It had some geat action scenes but it definately lacked "the bigger picture" that the other terminator movies always had(time travel,fate)instead were given a very basic war movie with a simple plot & a pretty subdued ending. again i dont hate this movie & if it turns out this is just a first act in a proposed 3 act story then i guess it did its job. I just hope the next installment unlike the terminators themselves has a little more heart and depth & a lot less cold metal.

I enjoyed this next chapter in the Terminator series. I thought that the actors did an excellent job and picked up the story where it had left off. However, I was surprised at the way the movie ended. All in all, great film.
