After the events of the other movies, there was only one thing that could've happened. War. A 4th Terminator should only be a war movie. And it was. It should also focus on John's struggle to gain respect and loyalty of the Resistence. It did. Because this is very early in the war, and Skynet hasn't had time to refine it's inventions, the machines should be big, slow, clunky, almost steampunk versions of the ones we all know. They were. This movie was exactly what it should've been, and if a simple war plot about a few humans fighting steampunk terminators isn't as emotionaly engaging as the character dinamics of the first two movies, TOUGH! P.S. CYBERDYNE'S BACK! (TAKE THAT T-3, you worthless pile of dog vomit!!!)

Don't get me wrong I thought it was a good movie but the story line took more than half the movie to develop. I can honestly say that Sam Worthington really made this movie opposed to Christian Bale. the genuine connection to his character made it feel like you watching a movie and not a repeat performance from another character. Good action and an overall OK terminator flick. Christian bale goes into his "dark knight" raspy voice every now and then but fits well in the role. Worth a watch.

Whew! Some people just cannot be pleased!
This film was neither the best acted nor the best scripted film of the summer. Most of the film amounted to shouting amid explosions.
However, those explosions were amazing!
The effects were all special, but none was as uncanny as the appearance of a certain governator in full cg. I have never seen a fully digital characterization that was so spot on if brief.
Sam Worthington did a phenomenal job portraying his character and I look forward to seeing him in future roles.
McG should be proud of his accomplishment. He saved the Terminator film franchise. Now if only someone would buy the tv show from Fox so it could be renewed...

Not only was this sequel seamlessly woven with the other Terminator movies, it was very well acted (especially the characters of Kyle Reese and Marcus Wright), fun to watch and surprisingly moving. This very well may be the best Terminator movie in the series--not just because of the special effects and intense action, but the all-around story, which is packed with metaphors, paradoxes and morals. My only complaint is that this one didn't seem as scary as the others.

My son and I were both entertained. Great special effects. Pretty fast-paced. Broad brushed storyline limits the ability of getting to know any of the characters. I suspect that, because this story is so long-running, it is a challenge to add to the franchise.

I feel like they walked through a minefield of good ideas and managed to not step on any of them. There were so many interesting aspects of the concept they could have explored but did not. Almost felt like they underestimated the audiences ability to understand a complex story and just gave us mindless fighting and explosions.

Firsh Bunruh, people watch the movie better. They didn't use the sounds wave trap because is was a trap by skynet. How do you think they destroyed sub command post. tarp trap trap!!! Again watch the movie. Anyways I was impressed with the storyline. Gave you insight to the early days of the war. Also shows how John Connor comes to be the commander and how Kyle Reese comes into play. The only thing I wish was that there was more fighting but I do realize its not a modern Army. Its a rag tag resistance force doing sneak attacks. Overall can't wait for T6 in 2011!!!!!!!!!!

If you love action, this movie is non-stop for 2 straight hours. It really felt they were in an apocalyptic world. Great Story. I thought the acting was good. Don't know what other people are complaining about. Ever since Dark Knight came out, people have wanted to see movies live up to that standard. This was close, but its an entirely different movie. The only thing I had problem with was the ending. I read on some message board about 2 weeks ago and someone posted the exact ending to the movie. I thought it was bogus, and mildly hoping it was too. However I heard that they shot another ending that was even worse, so I'm glad they went with this one.

This movie does throw a quasi-curveball on how they continue the T-franchise which can be a bit hard to swallow for those hardcore Terminator buffs out there that constantly keep comparing this movie to T1 and T2 (it's a "movie review" not a "movie comparison". Is it really that hard to believe movies with different directors and writers might have a different flow...?). Overall, this movie provided good acting, sound, visuals and direction while keeping intact many of the important details from the past that allow it to be considered another chapter of an already amazing story-line. Like myself, a person might find themselves scratching their heads in confusion from time-to-time, but not enough to completely write-off the movie.

Perhaps that trailer build this on up a bit, but I think all the terminator fans out there, since 1984, have had this vision of the future in the Terminator universe. This was a great action movie, it had awesome special effects, Acting was dead on most of the time, but the vision of the future, the apocalypse, the execution/delivery of the film just did not have that epic feeling to it like I expected. McG did a great job with crafting the story and look, but at time it felt like I was watching a TV episode and not the big story of a movie.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Nothing will ever compare to the original Terminator, but this movie was definitely fun to watch. Good storyline. Would watch again.

I don't know how I got conned into seeing a McG movie after I knew he directed Charlie's Angels and Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle. I thought maybe he had been pigeonholed into doing certain types of movies and perhaps he had more to offer, but I was so so wrong. On the way home, I was trying to think of one thing I liked about it, if even one shot. All I could come up with was that I think the Asian girl did one of her own stunts. The acting and story line blew. McG managed to make Michael Bay seem like a craftsman.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Say what you will about T3, at least it contributed to the story. This movie was just a CGI-fest that has no plot. This isn't a Terminator movie, it's just a stand-alone action movie. Would compare in quality to the 3rd Matrix.
