While it was about what I expected, it is kind of sad that it wasn't more. Christian Bale's character tended to fall flat. Not by any fault of his but more because of his dialog. It was just weak. Beyond that, it was good. And pretty much followed the previous time line requirements set forth in earlier Terminators.

I have seen all of the Terminator movies and this one had too many holes in the script. I loved the action and the special effects but the script felt like they just added extras scenes unrelated to the story to fill time. Expected more.

are the studio heads thinking "hmmm just add another explosion and some more gun fire. people won't remember what we just told them 5 minutes ago" ? there were so many holes in this story you'd think the script was targeted for termination. but i guess all those bullets had to land somewhere. and the way certain characters wouldn't die i thought i started watching a cartoon or 3 stooges skit. that said, the special effects were amazing and look great on the big screen and i really felt that i was on the ride of my life at the start of the movie. if you don't like to think and like to watch things go boom then this movie is for you.

Don't know what's wrong with other reviewers. must be mentaly ill. This movie was well thought out as a sequel and anxiously waited for. only a few holes in the continuity but must see again if I missed something. Christian Bale IS John Connor! they should've had Claire Danes back though.

Delivered on all accounts of a good summer action movie, at times a little corny, but overall good story and better than either the tv series which is very dark and depressing or T3, which was just god awful. I did n't really get the point to having Bryce Dallas Howard in the movie, but all of the other characters were well thought out and played an integral role to the story.

Terminator Salvation works well in its role as the first movie in a trilogy. Fans of the Terminator mythos will be very happy, while others simply looking for a good movie will be a bit lost due to the little time spent on backstory or character development. Action scenes were constant, intense, at times scary (that first crawling T-600? Geez!), and never felt too over-the-top. The acting isn't perfect, but is nowhere near cringe-worthy. Effects are top-notch, especially Arnold's scene. The nods to previous films are done tastefully and never seem tacked on. Being a fan, having moderate knowledge of the mythos, I knew enough to understand and appreciate the plot. For others, this is still a great action flick.

the first 3/4 of the movie were not bad, just really boring. our entire group of people was practically nodding off. and then things took a turn for the worst.
that last quarter of the movie contained cheese moments one after another, strung together in a nonstop barrage of stink. tender moments became theatre wide laugh fests, exposition reached new lows of stupidity, and references to the previous movies became terrible groan inducing remixes.
go see star trek again instead of seeing this movie.

A lot of action in this movie - it flows nicely. The story line was good. Christian Bale was 'ok' - typical acting style for him. At times I felt it was a little too easy for a person to beat a 'machine' but overall the movie was good. No surprises though. It should be a good start to a rebirth of the franchise.

I went with 4 other people and everyone liked it. We all said it fell short of the older Terminators that came before though. It had action, but lacked the edge of your seat excitement that draws you into the movie. The action was too predictable and obvious. Meanwhile the confrontations with other humans seemed to be budget saving filler that only weakly add to the movie. Saving the girl from humans, come on, save her from robots man! It is well worth seeing even if not the best Terminator yet.

I was a bit disappointed with the movie. I get that it's science FICTION and everything couldn't actually happen in real life, but come on. A heart transplant in the middle of the desert from an unmatched donor? A plot to lure John Connor into Skynet central, all the way into a cell, so Arnold could kill him? There were plenty of opportunities for Skynet to kill him along the way, if they were really manipulating Marcus.
Also, isn't the concept of "pockets" of resistance groups counter-intuitive to the whole idea that Skynet can easily destroy most humans? Any signal they were sending out should have been picked up by Skynet and responded to, not just when people play Guns N' Roses off an old school radio.

Yep. Salivation. As in drippy. Honestly... whose story is it? Connor's? Kyle Reese's? Or Marcus's? Massive CG explosions with ear-splitting machine noises can't prop up the weak, multi-threaded plot. And what was with that ending? Like a heart transplant from an unmatched donor who just happens to be in a giving mood is supposed to be a climactic moment? A civilization that's on the verge of obliteration wouldn't have advanced technology and supplies to deal with permanent tissue-rejection issues. Wouldn't it have made more sense to replace John's heart with machine-technology, thanks to Marcus? As it stands, the movie ends, not with a bang but a whimper.

I thought some of the effects were cool but most were just rehased from other sci fi movies. the t-600 looked like nemises from resident evil three and i thought they should of gone more into the story of skynet and the resitance backstory and developoed the charachters more. overall 3 out of 5 stars.

We both left with motion sickness. It was hard at times to even figure out what was in the frame. The plot could have been amazing- I loved the new terminator and the exploration of what makes someone human. Great storyline. But for people, like us, who have been following SCC, this was ho hum at best. This plot would have been a secondary storyline in the series. It was an hour and half of action and 20 minutes of plot. And how do you transplant a heart that was destroyed by a terminator? I'll buy it on DVD, but I won't go back to the theater for it. Christian Bale is a great actor, but someone tell him to PLEASE stop with the Batman voice. Hopefully, T5 will be better.

After all the bashing, I went into this with severely lowered expectations. Maybe that’s the key, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Don't expect it to be another T2, and nothing Bale does will live up to Dark Knight for awhile, but this just wasn't the disaster it's being made out to be. It's easily better than T3. Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese was a particular standout. I wish the entire movie had followed him. McG certainly is limited when it comes to directing actors (some of the scenes are truly bad, especially the first scene of the movie... awful) but the action is great and you can tell that he truly cared about moving the franchise forward. He didn't succeed, but I don't think he failed either. It's somewhere in the middle. 3.5/5

Great movie! I am not even interested in science fiction movies, but I would definitely go see this movie again! It was AWESOME! And Christian Bale just made it better :)

This is a great movie even if you are not a Terminator fan. No cheesy or corny dialog, acting plot or effects like T3. The cast is excellent - Bale, Bonham-Carter, Howard etc. Do a great job bring the movie to life.
