While not an insult to the series, this is the weakest of the four. Too many interwoven stories make the movie hard to follow, and seem added on just to fill up time. The references from the first movies (music and lines) were interesting but not overdone.
There are many plot holes which lead the viewer to think the writers were planning for the next sequel before this one was ever done. If you really really really enjoyed the first three this one will entertain you, if you thought they were so so then wait for the rental.

While the movie does not pretend to be great , (T1+T2 were the best in the franchise), it is certainly more aligned to these 2 movies. Besides the terrifying +exhilirating soundtrack, Sam Worthington is the true redeeming factor .. Definitely worth a watch only in theaters..

This movie was awesome! If you followed the first three Terminator movies then you will thoroughly enjoy this one. It builds on the first three and has quite a few seens that were similar to the first two. The digital doing of Arnold was excellent. I would definitely go see this again and recommend you go see it to. Christian Bale was great as John Connor and Sam Worthington was a great as Marcus Wright. A wonderful, keep you on your toes film!

I'll definitely watch this one again...great action and very clever plot line. The role of Marcus is most pivotal as a character of strength, endurance, and--ultimately--compassion of humanity.
Other reviewers can nitpick the details (and this movie, like any sci-fi flick, requires our "suspension of disbelief"). But this movie is definitely a fine extension in the Terminator series, and I look forward to the next movie with John Connor and Kyle Reese.

Not as deadly a failure as Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, still I don't feel impelled to herald this new story as anything more than a special effects wet dream with some cool things peppered in here and there. The brief cameo by Arnold Schwarzenegger's CGI twin is by far the best part of the movie, while the whole rest of the movie falls somewhat short of James Camerons' idea. I reccommend this to anyone who is a fan of the series, it is worth it to see what the stop-motion terminator in 1984 has morphed into 25 years later, however predictable and unsurprising the movie ends up being.

I felt like the movie lacked overall depth and realism. While yes, this is a sci-fi, its unappealing to watch John Connor get mauled by a hulking metal terminator and be thrown across a room into a tank, only to fall 5 more feet land terribly then shake it off... and things like the metal terminators having on clothes... and hats...just left me thinking, 'why?' From start to finish it was what the terminator franchise has prided itself on. pure action. I think it moves away from the slow boring "ahnold is the govenatoh so we can't have too much violence" feel. but it's just a hair short. let's worry less about a pg-13 rating and stay completely true to the series. it's a violent series. that aside, it was still awesome and i'll probably see it again. stays true and pays homage to the first two.

The movie trailer is better than the actual movie. The plot/story is thin, but present. The casting bring in a whole new generation the series. The only thing that was lacking was more runtime and a new director. Honestly it seemed to fall into the same line as the first Aliens vs Predator. Too many back ties into the past of the series itself (Which they did do a great job with) but it still seemed to be missing a connection to really pull you in completely.
It has a lot of cool effects.. It def was not a bad story & the tie in's were cool. Yet I think taking a Sci-Fi Horror & cutting it back to PG-13 for a younger crowd did not help. They should have left it R Rated.
If you watch the trailers & then the movie they changed the scenes & I feel it may have been for the worse. CG Arnold was in good shape, the ending... not sure I liked it.

Overall pretty good. I took my 11 yr old for his birthday and really enjoyed it. I will see it again when it comes out on dvd.

It was a good movie for the action, and fx, but the timeline was a little off. That many years of fighting and they still have aircraft and bases, marcus is far more advanced than the terminators from earlier movies, also the transplant was a little hard to swallow, that would be hard to pull off now, but with tech and infrastructer gone it would be impossable, but you look past that and the lack of character background, it was a good movie, I will go see it again.

I came in with very low expectations, yet was entertained through most of the movie. Will the film was bad, the fast paced action made it a good theater experience.
The saving grace is the cinematography. Using very good CG the camera stayed in close and in lieu of fast cut sequences, the point of view tended to stay in one place for longer.
If you liked T3, you will like this movie.
