This was one of the best Terminator movies yet. Christian Bale makes an excellent John Connor and Sam Worthington's part as Marcus makes you feel for him. There are several nods to the original movies, but not done in a way that detract from the flow of the story. The action is well paced and also doesn't overshadow the main story. If you only get to see a few movies this summer, this should be one of them.

This movie doesn't do the Terminator franchise justice. It's a fairly enjoyable action movie, but there's very little storyline. You'll probably like it if you big on action, just don't look for good characters or writing.

Terminator Salvation is definitely a must see for all those die hard Terminator fans. There is non-stop action throughout the entire movie. The story is pretty good. The number one reason to see this movie is to watch the character Marcus Wright. His character stole the movie.
I was disappointed by the lack of character development (besides Marcus) which makes you not care about most of the resistence fighters, including John Connor. In addition, the last 15 minutes was weak in comparison to rest of the movie.

For fans of state-of-the-art action movies with great digital effects a must see. Some scenes are really outstanding like a T-600 Terminator lured into a trap and then smashed into pieces. Bale and Worthington are acting really cool. Looks to me like they have stuffed too many events into one regular length movie as it would have fit easily into two movies.

Lots of action and blowing things up but no real storyline. Doesn't compare to the first two movies, but certainly better than Rise of the Machines. Bale is a good John Connor, but JC is not who the story is focused around.

The action was non-stop. There were enough plot twists to keep the suspense level going. The special effects were excellent. I particularly liked the way in which Skynet was characterized. It had a good amount of death machine creepiness to it. I recently finished reading the Terminator trilogy by S. M. Sterling and this movie fits very nicely with the future history of the Terminators.

...as a fan of the Terminators movies from day one I was disappointed. Overall the movie was pretty good with great special effects, but there were some inconsistencies between this movie and the previous ones. In some parts the script simply didn't tie into to the past movies well enough to make you believe this was the same future as depicted in the original movie. Definitely will be a great rental.

Having recently conducted a Terminator marathon in preparation for this release, my thoughts? What a huge disappointment. Action, yea. So? With little to no plot or character development the movie ends and who cares? Gaping holes in the storyline are never filled-in. Connection to the previous films? Very little other than having the right names in place. But, great, new opportunities for this series to never end. Arnold (digitized) shows up but for no reason other that to say they had him. Saw it, been there, done that... no need to see again. Bet this exits theaters relatively quickly. Rated it Fair just to be nice. Sorry folks, just the truth.

This movie was great at tying T1 and T2 together. The plot was good, the acting was great, the special effects were awesome. I've read that it should've had a subplot, but really I didn't see the need or the time for it. I think the time was better spent on this main storyline,and there were plenty of different characters to follow.
My only reason for not giving it 5 stars is because I don't know if someone not seeing the 1st & 2nd movie will be as interested in the plot, since it follows the path and destiny of previously laid out characters. (I don't consider the 3rd as good)

I Heard a lot of negative reviews and was already prepared for the worst with McG helming this flick. As a devotee of the original 2 movies (3 doesn't really count) I was worried about style vs. substance. But honestly I was happily surprised by how fun and well made it was. Great cast and in addressing those who say there is no character development I give you Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese. And to those who say John Connor is too serious, if you'd been fighting a war against holocuastic robots for years, you might not exactly be full of laughs yourself.

The effects were awsome! The story line needs work though. It seems like there were alot of things missing either cut out or never installed. It was a typical top40 Universal movie, with the good guy winning & the love & romance sceen, unlike the other 2 Terminator movies. Also seemed like they morphed transformers, Irobot & Batman into the movie. The helicopter sinking sceen was too fictional. I found myself yawning at times. Also, I would think Cristian Bail would surgically remove that skin tag by his eye, it was too distracting. I would recommend that you rent it on video or wait until it's on TV, that shouldn't be too long...

It's hard to take a franchise and move it forward when all the original players are gone. T4 does a competent job, not outstanding. Good effects (not excellent), OK acting (not great), good filming (not excellent), clever plot twist towards the end, but corny execution. Takes itself too seriously, and missing the Terminator humor that only arrives a little at the end. Reasonably well timed, some good suspense, lots of things blow up, and a clever plot twist. Sam Worthington does a great job, Christian Bale as usual is soooo serious and kind of stiff. Worth seeing in the theaters, and fun. As a T addict, I enjoyed it.

It is just loud, special effects, and goes from one action scene to another - if there is a story it makes no sense. I had no sense of any of the characters or why they were in the movie except the most obvious ones. The last 20 minutes are better than the whole movie but it is not worth sitting through the rest of it to get there.
And I LOVED the original Terminator and especially T2 and other action movies, Matrix, Mad Max, even Star Trek.

Christian Bale slips deeper into his male hero, gruff American accent caricature he has been trying to perfect since Batman Begins and in Terminator Salvation, the franchise reboot from McG, he just comes off as a rough draft of his Bruce Wayne. The real standout of the film is Sam Worthington as a death row inmate who signs his body away to corporate villian Skynet only to be revived 15 years later as the newest Terminator. A lot of the strength of this film is mainly due to the Terminator mythology. And like Wall-E and A.I. before it, the most human and identifiable character in the whole film is in reality a machine with human characteristics.

This is a good movie but not excellent. The special effect were really the best. As previously said it sort of followed the other story lines but seems not refined enough to be a Terminator #4. Action was super and the actors were on the mark, but it just seemed that something was missing. Then the CGI Arnold shows up to try and connect it to the earlier "T"s. I will not go to watch this again, and will purchase the dvd when it is sold at the bargan store just to say that I have a complete set.

This is a great action movie. It has a different angle than the other Terminator movies so it is fun to watch. I liked the cameo and the quick surprises that happen at different times. I also like the camera angles which were close up and made me feel like I was right there. It's a good movie experience.

The movie was full of action! Casting was good. The story line was acceptable. I wish it had more subplots. However, the movie left me wanting more (cant wait for a sequel).

Coming In I Had Alot Of Hype,Seeing It I Was Impressed With MCG's style of film making....Christian Bale taking energy from Batman and another post apocalytic movie he had made earlier in 2002 'Reign Of Fire" put a good performance from him as for the Marcus Wright character I was impressed even more of taking notion That a machine can be a good guy just as Arnold was in T2 & T3.
Not too many bad things I Can say,Terminator Salvation is your flick if your a die hard action fan with a taste for the traditional films that make them popular today as they were back in the 80s & 90s
