Salvation? Save me from this awful film. This was a terrible, over the top, cheesy movie. I absolutely loved T1 and T2 and thought T3 was not bad. This was far and away the worst of the series.
The acting was bad, the dialogue terrible, the plot was dung, and the continuity erroneous throughout with the rest of the series.

Before seeing the movie I had read that Christian Bale had refused to do this movie until they wrote a script that could stand on its own, without special effects, and I think he got what he wanted. I really liked the movie and Im looking forward to the next one.

I had read fairly mediocre to bad reviews before seeing this movie, so I was prepared for it not being overly thrilling. I was surprised. The movie delivered a fast-paced, unbroken storyline which held my attention for the entirety of the show. It was slightly front-loaded in terms of action, but it managed to pan out a deliver an engaging storyline that, for me, made it the best of the franchise to date.
I highly anticipate the sequels.

After Terminator 3, my expectations for this one were very low, but thanks to Christian, Sam and Anton, my fears were laid to rest. It was action-packed, the references to T2 were very good, and even funny in one case. The CGI Arnold was very good, and I was glad they used his likeness from T1. The acting, script, and plot were all engaging. It will make you forget T3 ever happened. :)

So, to all the dissenters, what's the big deal? I thought the movie was thoroughly enjoyable. As an avid Terminator fan from the very first film I was a skeptic going into this one. To my surprise the film had everything I enjoyed and more from the other films. The story line is great, and with the non-stop action I was left asking for more. Christian Bale plays a very convincing John Connor, and I was kept guessing to the very end.

I saw this movie last night with my wife. She heard it was horrible, and I intentionally avoided hearing too much about before going to see it. So I walked in with an open mind, and I was very satisfied with what I saw.
The role of John Connor was surprisingly played down, he wasn't even the main focus of the film. They unveiled realistic (in terminator universe) new machines and a fascinating and horrifying views of the post-apocalyptic future, and really helped you understand the important yet understated role that John Connor had.
Use of puppets and natural special effects and not drowning it in CG was a welcome relief from blockbuster films today. The terminators looked and felt real. Definitely worth seeing in the theater.

this one was a little entertaining, but too much action not enough acting, all christian bale seems to be able to do is talk in his whispery batman voice and an expressionless face , very dull . marcus was the only compelling character in the movie

Good story that can both stand alone and moves along the overall multi-movie plot. Typical theme of how "fate" heals a potential time travel paradox was made to feel familiar without feeling trite. A few minor continuity issues can be overlooked or explained by an altered time-line. The CGI was wonderfully done.
Only one stinker scene, which was used to "explain" what was happening in which Marcus dialogues with Skynet, was poorly written, poorly executed visually, and completely superfluous. The whole scene and implication could and should have been done without personifying Skynet. The impersonal oblivious nature of Skynet is lost. Less would have been more.

If you have seen the old terminators, well than don't see this movie. Nothing new and no story. Them against the machines, Yea we know that... but could you please put in a good story and make us care about the characters. I wasn't sure who I was routing for and why. All this movie did was make me appreciate James Cameron's first two Terminator films even more. And while far from perfect, even "Terminator 3" was better than this movie. At least it had a gutsy ending, This film was overdirected, poorly plotted, and relentlessly grim. No fun whatsoever. And there's a HUGE plot hole in it that I don't know how the filmmakers missed, especially considering that they hung the whole movie on it. Pass on it.

I went to see Terminator last night with my teenagers and it was outstanding. The acting of Christian Bale amd Sam Worthington worthing was so authentic and intense I cannot imagine how they slept at night.
I can completely understand why Christian would have gotten aggravated with anyone interrupting the intensity of the scenes.

This should end the series. As a huge fan of the series, I entered the movie with great hope and anticipation; unfortunately, I ended up thinking what does this movie have to do with the Terminator story? There was no time travel, no flashbacks, and no relevant storyline. The storyline in the movie had no foundation from the previous movies; it was a totally new concept. The reality is that the interesting part of this story is before Judgement Day; afterwards it is just about survival. They leave the story open ended (so they can make another film), but they really needed to have the machines destroyed to make this a good movie. Also, Christian Bale reminded me too much of Batman in too many scenes.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I thought it was well done, but if felt off story a bit. I guess it leaves room for another movie. A bit cheesy at times.

McG will forever be known as one of the worst directors. The movie was boring, had a weak story and featured wooden acting. The characters were one-dimensional compared to the huge character development in T2. It felt like a 2 hour test of a new CGI computer program. Do not see this if you're a fan of the Terminator movies.
