Non-stop action, gritty sci-fi "Mad Max-like" atmosphere and seamless special effects will keep most Terminator-aware movie goers glued to the screen in this 4th chapter in the John Conner saga. The visual effects, music, cinematography and most of the actors are top notch here. Keeping the flick from perfection is the choppy editing and the acting of Christian Bale. For some odd reason Bale has carried his Batman persona & voice into this movie? We would have been better served with a more dimensional & complex portrayal of John Conner. The movie could have been better served with some additional back-story for the under-terminator-educated. Hey - the action was great and the sound work magnificent! Overall a fun ride. See it!

I really enjoyed the new concept and another way to go with this series. The acting was fair but the action and the rawness of the machines I thought was good. No clean computers all around but harsh machines. unpolished, uncaring. would like to see if this can go on any further. Would be strange to see Bale in two different franchises

I thought that the movie was alright. In my opinion, it wasn't the best of all the Terminator movies. The artificial Arnold Schwarzenegger was kind of funny. The film is a high speed and entertaining ride. The story is good and the action is overall terrific. One thing I'll mention is that throughout the film I found myself caring more for Marcus Wright than for John Connor. I guess because of how the story followed both characters. I thought the movie was quite good. It is not the best of the Terminator films but it proudly stands beside the 1st two films and is much better than the 3rd. The action is non stop and it boasts some of the best special effects you will see. Even though it is only PG-13 the action is still intense and the film does not seem to be dumbed down to fit the rating. There were a few forced lines of dialogue that bothered me, and Common is a terrible actor, luckily his role is minimal. If you like there terminator mythology go see it.

After having seen Star Trek, and the continuity between the movies and all of the TV shows, it is a little disappointing that the Terminator franchise did not follow that example of how to have a successful movie and TV series work. This movie was based solely on the previous movies, but more recent fans will have seen the TV show and may not be as familar.

I was disappointed with the movie. Nice special effects though. I liked the last 30 minutes a bit more than the rest of the movie. Christian Bale should NOT have used his Batman voice as John Connor. It's certainly a lot more fun when the Terminators arrive in the past before the Apocalypse. I missed Arnold, even though there's a photoshopped version in there for a cameo. I won't see it again any time soon. I can't say the same for Star Trek.

The movie, although lacking a perfect story and acting, is far from terrible.
Although Christian Bale's acting had some stale parts, I thought that he captured the overall "feel" of a post-apocalyptic John Connor. On the other hand, Sam Worthington and Anton Yelchin's performance were pretty well done despite Sam Worthington's accent, which is minor.
The environment of the movie is top notch. It captured the post-apocalyptic feel extremely well (I was reminded of Fallout 3). All of the terminators were top notch, the CGI and explosions were great, and the overall gritty sense of survival is there.
Overall, if your a fan of the Terminator series, you should be in the theater right now instead of reading this review.

I think that this movie was excellent. It left off from the last Terminator movie and was a followup. It shows that the machines did take over and that humanity still had the drive to take them out. Weak story line, weaker acting (Christian Bale was a bore) Sam Worthington was better but couldn't keep the accent surpressed the entire movie. Is it really that hard to find a good actor in our enormous country? why are they always from England or Australia using an American accent? Over that big time. McG just doesn't compare to James Cameron. He never made me care about any of the characters and you could tell many story lines were only half fleshed out. Wait for video is my rec!

Going in I wasn't sure what to expect. The critics panned it, while fans liked it. The story was well told and the effects were amazing. I though that the characters were well developed and fun to watch. The story keeps you on the edge of your seat for the entire time. Do yourself a favor and see this movie even if you are not a Terminator franchise fan...

Full of actions and a "surprises". Kept me jumping in my seat. I plan to rent the original so I can stay on top. I wouldn't be surprised if they make another.

Just as in Batman, Christian Bale's performance was shadowed by Heath Ledger's...well, in Terminator Salvation, Sam Worthington steals the show. Don't get me wrong, Bale did fine, but Sam Worthington had the best part and did a better job.
I absolutely HATE when explosions are done with unrealistic flares. If you have ever seen anything explode in real life (I was in the Army, so I have) they don't explode looking like a flare or firework.
I realize the premise of the movie, but to me, it was a bit too much "Road Warrior" and not enough story telling.
anyway, I still enjoyed it, but it wasnt as good as it should have been.
I give this movie 3 out of 5 stars.

An updated view of the franchise with good actors, special effects and well written story. Fast paced and keeps you on the edge of yer seat. Hope that they make a trilogy out of it.
