It is hard to compare this installment with the first two, but I will say that I thought Christian Bale was a convincing John Connor and the Sam Worthington character was well done and innovative. The story had just the right mix of technology, plot twists and accurate historical references, which is sometimes poorly done in movies that deal with time travel. A solid science fiction movie.

If you are partially deaf and love to see things get blown up, then this is the movie for you. Nothing sublte about the action but where was the story line? Predicable ending though there was one surprise with one of the machines that was neat. Overall wait for DVD release.

dont get me wrong it was a good movie but there was too much, i guess the word would be "human interaction" . terminators and other skynet stuff(including the hybrid guy) were only on screen for a total of maybe 45 minutes. far too much connor face time, especially of hes not the leader of the resistance, even though he acts like and people(with the exception the guys in the sub who actually are) seem to think he is. but it good to see skynet do what i've been complaining about them not doing for a few years, go after **** ****.
but at least it was better than rise of the machines :)

I had hopes that after the farce that was the third one, that they would bring it back and make a movie. You know, like the second when you felt real emotion when Arny drops himself in the molten vat. But no. They just strung action sequences together that had little connection. Most scenes didn't even make sense. I will still see the next one, because I retain hope that they might create another terminator movie that actually gets the audience invested. But this one is definitely a rental.

If you are a true Terminator fan you will love this movie. They did leave it open to continue with another one as this is only the beginning of it I guess you could say but it was good. It did have a plot, making sure Kyle Reese was rescued and stayed alive in order for him to be able to send him back in time and destroying Skynet and the machines. Very good movie and a lot of action. Loved it.

If you like Terminator movies this one is much better than the last 2. The special effects are good but the ending scene is just not believable. Go for the special effects and hope this is the end unless we can get Arnold back - but for plot and just good movie going I would recommend the new Star Trek over the Terminator.

The movie stays true to its roots. The man and machine is explored in a different way. What is man's true nature when under the control of a devious cybernetic corporation? Who has more passion for its kind; man or machine? I think this movie will do well on second showings since it makes you think. There is more of a human connection to the man vs machine mystery in this movie then previous Terminator movies thanks to Sam Worthington. It is subtle, and unappreciated by some critics who were looking for real full flesh and human relationships, when standing in front of them (Moon Bloodgood & Sam Worthington) we get the futures representation of this. This may have gone over their heads, but not mine. This movie was ahead of its time.

The action was good with little blood and gore. Virtually no character development. Specially in regards to John Connor who demonstrated no "saving the world" leadership ability. It was as if he was a Special Operator; Green Beret, Navy Seal or Army Ranger.

I'm glad another Terminator movie came out, but this one left me a bit confused during the first 15-20 minutes, as I tried to sort out the charactors. Early in the movie I wasn't sure if I was watching Connor, Reese, or who exactly this Marcus was. And "who" was that little girl in the movie? She reminded me a bit of the kid that was in "Mad Max-Beyond Thunderdome". Anton Yelchin (Reese) needed to play a more "Type-A" personality. The special effects ... awesome but a bit too much on the motorcycles. I'll probably rent / or buy this one, but more because I have the other three. I gave this movie a 4-star, but more like a 31/2 star.

I don't know what all these Debbie Domwners were expecting...this was a fun, mindless trip through the Dopamine Dome. If I were to rate it as a "serious" movie, I'd have to give it 2 or 3 stars instead of 4. BUT I DON'T. This is simply a summer action flick with great special effects. This is probably the start of the Best story line of the terminator franchise. It is verry dark, the resistance was small, and John was just beginning to become the leader that was told about in the first movie. Christian Bale made an excellent John Conor and, how they created Marcus a Terminator who doesn't know he is one clever. The only down fall to the special effects was the T800's they should have been CGI and not some cheap suit, that said the good of this movie and the great out wieghed the cheap suits. The story line kept me in my seat and the action never stopped. This movie would have gotten 5 stars but the T800's held it back.

Christian Bale was superb. The plot was a bit quirky but what else would you expect from a Terminator movie.

Huge terminator fan here.
McG should be banned from making Hollywood movies. Seriously, the guy is such a d*bag. He nearly ruined this movie, save the performances of Sam Worthington and a few others.
This is Charlie's Angels with dudes. The script is poor and McG thinks he can hide a bad movie with action sequences and explosions.
The story in and of itself is intriguing, particuarly the one dealing with Marcus. The rest is mindless banter. Way too many plot holes.
Too many homages paid to the past...
McG should never be allowed to make another movie.
