I took my daughter and her friend, both of whom are 6. They both like the move. I was worried at first because people said it was too scary for little ones. Not true...at least not for these two little girls. My daughter liked Coraline and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. So, if your child has liked either of those two movies they are sure to like this one.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This was definitely Tim Burton's twist on the story. It had a lot more depth than i was expecting. But, nevertheless, it was entertaining. I would recommend it!

My wife and I took our 5 year old to watch this movie. Ever since he saw the trailer for the first time he wanted to see it and asked for it every weekend. I have to admit I had some reservations, I'm not a fan of Tim Burton's movies, but I was gladly surprised. I didn't find the movie too dark and it was full of wonderful characters that my son loved. As far as the adult violent sciences I don't think is going to leave a lasting mark on my son. I recommend it. Only regret, I should have watched it on 3D.

I took my 7 years old to see the movie. After reading the reviews the movies seemed appropriate. I was wrong. The movie is very dark (well I guess that goes for most of Tim Burton's movies), violent, and there were some very scary scenes that I would not have wanted my son to be exposed to (chopping off a head at a guillotine, a head of a dragon rolling down a stairway), not to mention other adult issues such as infidelity. Although my son did not register any ill effects after watching the movies, I wish I wouldn't have taken him to see it. As an adult I enjoyed the movie, but I think the movie is more appropriate for children ages 10 and up.

Did not see this in 3D because I wanted to focus on the story. It's a little slight in relation to the actual story it should tell, but it's fantastic to look at and Helena Bonham Carter is exceptionally nasty as the Red Queen. The battle sequences toward the end are gratuitous. But my 11 year old niece loved that Alice didn't need a husband to succeed in the real world. To look this great and still reach all ages is no small wonder.

The movie lacked a lot. Especially character development. Alice went into the hole, and came out the same person, and suddenly everyone treated her with respect. Made no sense. I felt like I was watching a movie with amazing animation, and a girl who was out of place walking around with big innocent eyes saying "Wut?" to everything. The approach on par with Roger Rabbit, but the plot, the motives, and Tim Burton's fetish with poking people in eyes with pins begins to get to you. I'm also not forgiving of burton exploiting 3D to threaten the audience with attacks and flying objects.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Story moves from fast to slow. Graphic is really colorful and detail. But I think it’s better to spend less money and watch it in 3D instead of IMAX. It’s not worth it to watch it w/ IMAX. But Johnny Depp really plays well w/ mad hatter and red queen played by Helena Bonham Carter made movie must to see. Cheshire cat was just darling. So go watch it with family or friends. But I still can’t believe it’s PG movie.

The movie was enjoyable just in the fact that Johnny Depp was cast as the Mad Hatter and the costumes were great.
It was a far take from the original - which is understandable coming from Tim Burton. He is a creator, not a follower. I brought my 9 yo daughter and she enjoyed it, however I think that if Alice would have been they young Alice, that she would have LOVED it.

I wasn't expecting much when I saw the trailers, but this was a fun ride! The little touches of 'crazy' were fun and the acting was superb.
There is a moment at the end that was a bit anachronistic and out of place, but other than that two big thumbs up!

This movie was almost a waste in 3D. The effects were actually minimal with only the Mad Hare tossing a few random articles into the audience. I am always happy to see Johnny Depp as he portrays the curious characters he has - the Mad Hatter was a spectacular performance - but the rest of the movie left me feeling cheated.

I thoroughly enjoyed Tim Burton's eye-poppingly updated Alice in Wonderland. It will rest alongside the "originals" quite nicely. The Wonderland she visits as an adult is much more vivid, and the characters much more deeply drawn, than the original portrayals -- rather than being self-referential satirical stand-in's for historical figures we know not of, Buton's Alice characters are wholly their own, and hint at deeper pasts and a more evolved world mileu than the 2-hour movie can possibly reveal. I was less than happy with the resolution for Depp's character and the awakened Alice -- but I would like to see Alice return to Wonderland, again, knowing it is not a dream.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I like most Tim Burton Films and enjoy watching Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp. I expected over the top characters and an intense psychedelic ride from this gang forgetting they were all working for Disney and so therefore had to keep things tame.
I think it would have been infinitely better if Mr. Burton had gotten free rein with the film and not had it geared to kids as Alice has enough versions for the young set already.
I was disappointed with the film as it was slow, did not go deep enough into the characters and history and the hare, caterpillar, and rabbit, the queens, Alice, well everyone, were all major let downs.
I saw it in 2D and recognized about ten places where 3D probably would be used.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

As a child who grewup on the original classic version, i have to say i was a bit disappointed. This took us into a LONG, DRAWN OUT journey into a psychological makeup which focuses on hypothesizing as to why she needs to escape, not on the escape itselfwhich is the charming, magical movie i remember. Extremely long and uneventful beginning, i was barely able to sit through it.

I don't usually like movies that have a predeteremined plot that the characters are supposed to grow into. Just makes the movies seem a bit too full of itself. That being said, the graphics and cinema work was absolutely fantastic. I loved Depp as usual. Good, but not great!!!

I managed to stay awake for most of the movie...
It took a bit of time to set up the story and then bogged down until we are introduced to the The Mad Hatter - Johnny Depp. Though he is not the star of the movie, he at least held my interest until we meet the Red Queen.

I think that this movie was alright. I went to see it with some friends expecting Tim Burton to bring us a really trippy movie. Sadly, old Timmy didn't put in the creepiness that we were expecting. I guess the fact that it was pg should have given that away. It was overall an okay movie, but Tim Burton definitely could have done a better job.

The movie overall was good. Darker then the cartoon, but still not what I thought it was going to be. I think it needed to be a little longer with more back story build up. I get she was there as a child and returning, but there was only like one brief flashback. The character and visuals where great. The ending left something to be desired as well, but again had the movie been a little longer that may have resolved itself. I think over all I was hoping this would be a darker film, closer to the book then the original Disney fluff version.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
