To his credit, Tim Burton spins his magic again keeping us in "aww" with the fantastic graphics and choice of actors. This is a darker version of the original. The movie starts out a little slow, leaving little excitement due to what we already know of the story. However... towards the end the plot does get exciting. The story as we all know it takes an interesting left turn.

Fantastic movie for family or date ~ very realistic & dynamic special effects & spectacular views throughout film that in it of itself is quite a ride ~ very cute, very Disney, & enormous amount of work & preparation obviously went into this film.
i felt like i was on a ride at one of Disney's theme parks ~ just cute, fun, scary, & laughing at all the cute creatures that somehow could talk ~ yes hound dogs can even talk in this film.
ps don't miss out on Avril's livigne awesome song & the next that plays through the final credits which we also found quite relaxing just to listen to if you have time ~ beautiful music that is worth relaxing to ~ hats off to Disney, brilliant, lovely

Great acting, wonderful special effects, inventive interpretation ala Burton. Better title would have been "Through the Looking Glass"; really wasn't about Alice's first trip to [W]onderland. Cudos to Mr. Depp, despite varying accents, comes across as most sympathetic character. Ms. Wasikowska was perfectly cast as older, braver Alice. Sadly, Ms. Hathaway was miscast as the White Queen; would have been interesting to have double-cast Ms. Bonham-Carter -- she was perfect Red Queen!

If it was not just a great book movie would get 5 stars from me! But taking on a such classics and by Disney I expected much more. Half of the book was just thrown away. I took my 7 year old daughter and her friend to see this movie. It definately has the "Tim Burton" spin on it, and follows the outline of the original Alice In Wonderland theme but is much more current and on the dark side. I would advise those taking children under 9 to see it in 2D as opposed to 3D the first time. It could be scary to view it for the first time in 3D to kids. They both agreed that it was much better to see it in 2D so they are familiar with the movie, and both wanted to see it in 3D next time. The characters are riveting and the scenery without the 3D is just as vivid.

I was excited to take my daughter to this one and not wait for the dvd, and was amazed that the theater was not full at all. We saw the 2D version and it was enjoyable enough, but.. I kept seeing captain black in the mad hatter, and anne hathaway is so much better than this part.. the queen was pretty intense, and I would have never married that lord guy either! Over all, we liked it and will most likely buy the dvd when it comes out.

This was the first movie I have seen in 3D and it was so much fun! The movie was based off the book more than the classic Disney cartoon version but it was still just as good. Would have seen it in 2D any way but 3D was well worth the two extra dollars!

I think Tim Burton has reached his apex with this one. We (my wife and I) had a blast, and normally on the drive home, we dissect the film. This was different. Both of us were silent, with bemused smiles on our faces, thinking over all the parts of the whole. We both get ill with 3D, so found a theater that had it in 2D, well worth the effort. Thanks Tim et all for a fantastic afternoon!

Took my 10 and 8-year-old boys last night, after explaining that it wasn't a "girl's" movie. They loved it. The blend of real and computer-generated is so seamless that you don't pay attention to the effects at all. This is also due to the richly drawn characters. Helena Bonham Carter is brilliant, as is Johnny Depp. Only difference between a 4 and 5 star for me was casting Anne Hathaway, who was god-awful in her cliched performance as the White Queen.

Had children ages 3, 11, with me and it held the attention of the 3 year old with all the action and colorful characters. Typical Tim Burton movie, (but then I like Tim Burton). Johnny Depp made a great Mad Hatter. Not a "must see" movie but entertaining.

Keep in mind this movie is a Tim Burton production. It starts with the basic premise of the childhood story and takes off from there. Johnny Depp gives a weird and wonderful performance as the Mad Hatter. Watching this take on the established story was very interesting. Did not watch the 3D version as my eyesight is not perfect and 3D ives me headaches.

My first 3D movie, so that was interesting. Tim Burton's sets are wonderful. The movie itself I'd give 1 star. The White Queen is ridiculous...she floats her hands above her shoulders constantly and flutters her little fingers. You expect her arms to turn into butterfly wings at any moment. Plot is silly and cliched. Dialog the same. Johnny Depp plays a good crazy guy. Alice is cute and blond.
Visuals great. The rest, eh.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Tim Burton is my absolute favorite director, and I was not disapointed. The visual effects were amazing. I would have like to have seen a little more depth to the character of Alice and the White Queen, they were rather two dimensional.
