So the whole movie you dont know WTF is going on...Then it ends....and you would think you would know what is going on...then something is said so you dont know what is going on...It is not scary it is STUPID....I want this 2hrs and 19 mins back ....what a waste of time.

All I can think of is that people have gone to see this, and pass along decent reviews SOLELY based on past performance and reputation of those involved in the movie. As a whole, I also appreciate Scorsese's work, and will continu to be interested in any project he does, but this was, simply put, a waste of time and money...horrible dream sequences, bad acting and very predictable outcome that took agonizingly long to get to!

Absolutely oustanding.....Leonardo should be nominated for an Academy Award..and..I wouldnt be surprised if he wins it...He is simply speaking..an excellent actor..and in this role..all his acting abilities are brought to a very very high level....This show is a must see..for the movie goer that is intelligent...one that appreciates action..drama....and superior acting...story line is also wonderful...A MUST TO SEE

I can't believe some of these reviews. Maybe I saw other previews of this movie than everyone else did. My and my GF were totally disappointed. The hype, the suspense, the thriller, the anxiety that this movie's previews created the expectation for, never occured. This was not only a strange movie, it wasn't scary or an "edge of your seat sitter" by any stretch of the imagination. We both found it boring and virtually uneventful and certainly not worth the price. I would suggest wait until it comes out on DVD and then watch it only if there are no other programs playing on any of the 500 channels you get.

This was a really good movie. However, it was billed as a "horror" movie and some of the younger members of the audience actually booed at the end. It's not a hatchet movie! It's a psychological thriller! And it's one of those movies that you continue to think about for days. You question what you would do in the same situations as the characters. And it's disturbing like Hitchcock's movies could be. Couldn't ask for more!

This drama-thriller was very intense and the casting was superb. DiCaprio was a great pick as Marshall Daniels, while Ben Kingsley and Max Von Sydow performed quite well in their supporting roles. Scorsese has done it again as a producer: another cinematic masterpiece because of the cinematography and all those turns the story took as Marshall Daniels sought to unravel mysteries at Shutter Island.

Great movie. Deep subject and somewhat disturbing, but well done. One of Sorsese's best. Leo is absolutely fantastic, one of the best actors of our time. He is so under rated,, really a fabulous acting job on his part. He was emotional and convincing.
This movie felt very Hitchcock like. A must see but not for those who can't handle hard subjects.

I looked forward to seeing Shutter Island as I think Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the best young actors in the film industry today. He did not disappoint me in this film. How can a movie go wrong with the other great actors in it?: Ruffalo, Kingsley, Max Von Sydow, Williams. Martin Scorsese has directed another hit! The plot of the movie was well hidden to the end!! Bravo!!

The cinematography was amazing, I would love to live on Shutter Island! The scenes ran a bit long and the music became overly dramatic, but the twist in the last few minutes made it all - almost - worthwhile. It viewed the clinical psychology field in a historical way, so you have to put that into perspective (their methods were a bit to swallow).

Very enjoyable, suspenseful, up to the last half hour. Massively disappointing and unbelievable ending, that's basically, "it was all a dream." The ending negated the substance of the plot and was kind of a 'cheat.' It was a twist for the sake of a twist and didn't follow the logic of the plot or character. Had to believe that things the AUDIENCE saw weren't, in fact, true. Had to believe that the doctors would turn the madhouse over to a violent madman for a hurricane weekend. Nah!
Also, the deaths of the children-very distasteful-there for shock effect.
Leonardo-excellent!
Music-over the top but ok.
Plot twist-silly, cheesy!

Absolutely loved this movie. I don't know where it was shot, but it reminded me of Deer Island House of Correction in Boston Harbor over 30 years ago. I thought the costuming was right on for the time, and the constant smoking that had been so much a part of our society back then. DiCaprio did an amazing job, as did Ben Kingsley. The rest of the cast was terrific also. Yes, it was long, but I was able to lose myself in the mystery and was sad that it was actually over. Bravo!

Contrary to several reviews I had read, Shutter Island kept my attention from beginning to end...and then some! Any movie that makes me think past the end always gets an extra star in my book! I have read many of the reviews from my movie going peers and with all due respect to them, Martin Scorsese and the Cast of Shutter Island do not rise to the level to be compared to an Alfred Hitchcock film! It was slow, the music droned on and on and very boring It feels that the money guys behind this film felt that, in order for it to be a financial success, they needed to get a big time Director and Actor (DiCaprio).
It would have been a much better ending if it turned out that someone like "Chuck" was somehow behind the sinister goings-on; that there really was a plot And I agree with one of the reviewers 'Why should I have to pay to watch commercials', give more previews.Spend the 2.5 hours with history Channel or Nat Geographic

I really enjoyed the movie. Leo was great, as usual, and I love Ben Kingsley.
The only negative would be that it did seem to start to drag a bit about 3/4 of the way in. But over all, I would definitely recommend.

Really enjoyed the way Scorsese used a hitchcock way of filming and suspense in the movie. the acting was very good and in certain areas average (Dicaprio never steals the show or stand out totally) the story was interesting but the twist was kind of odd even though it was almost anticlimactic. Overall a very good Movie. Scorsese I believe is getting better and better
