Having guessed the outcome in the first half our, I was impressed with the still engaging storyline and general questioning that the movie let us with.I think the cast did an excellent job with what must have been a tough movie. Definitely want to see it again!

The movie is two hours long and quite predictable for the type it is. Dicaprio does a fantastic job like always. However, I would wait to see this movie until it is available for a cheaper price. It would be a great "at home" type of film.

This movie has a great attention to detail and excellent twist and turns. Initially, scenes appear to not make sense, but as the movie goes on and you think back, it all adds up nicely. If you don't enjoy a movie that requires a little thought to follow, then I don't recommend this one. From scene one, it all begins. Excellent Scorsese film.

Predictable movie, i had it pegged in 1st half hour, but the 2 1/2 hours goes by nicely. In fact its one of those movies you don't realize how long its been till its over and you look at your watch or cell phone.. All in all a good movie and if you go see it, you wont feel like you wasted your money.

DiCaprio is excellent in this movie. Lots of twists and turns and you need to follow every scene from beginning to the surprising end! One of those movies you will discuss with everyone who sees it. Terrifying glimpse into the mental health industry. Makes me want to read the book.

I had read the book prior to seeing the movie and this movie lived up to every page of the book! Usually for me it is the other way around. The cinematography was awesome, the actors were superb, and the story line had the twists and turns needed to keep you interested. It did not seem as long as it was...never did I think "When is this going to end?" In all, I would highly recommend this film...LOVED it!

Columbia Pictures made some great B pictures in the 40's. If Scorsese had followed the formula better, Shutter Island would have been in B&W and had a running time of 70 minutes. Then he may have had a minor classic on his hands.
I guess with today's prices they have to add the extra hour to make people feel they are getting their money's worth. In this case longer was not better; it was just a waste of time.

This movie kept me on my toes in suspense and as soon as it took a big twist it left your jaw hanging! Leo was phenomenal in this movie and Martin Scorsese props to him!!!

A flailing, confused attempt. More style than substance. My mind started wandering halfway through - thoroughly inane. Even the so-called "suspense" elements were not very suspenseful. At a movie like this, you expect to be on the edge of your seat - I was laid back, practically snoring. Von Sydow is good in a supporting role. Otherwise it's all a lot of wasted effort for nothing.

I didn't read the book, so I was confused at the end and couldn't put all the pieces together. I felt like I really needed to go watch it a second time. I love movies that mess with your mind and keep you trying to figure it out. This movie doesn't disappoint. It's not scary in a an evil way, but in a mental, creepy way. Superb acting! I can't wait to go see it again, so I can look for clues along the way.

With little variation from the book, this film is riveting from start to finish, weaving an intricate tale that gives viewers much to discuss after the final credits roll. Obviously to those that read the book there are no surprises here.
I kind of knew what was going to happen from the very beginning, but I was still a little in disbelief at the end.
A very depressing movie that entertains as well as any movie can.

No exactly what I expected from the preview. It seemed predictable. There were plot twists, but they weren't really a surprise when they surface. It was slow at times as well, several people were talking about dozing off for a few seconds leaving the midnight showing. Even with all of that, It was a good movie. It kept you on the edge of your seat at times, confused and wondering what may happen next, others. Great acting, and cinematography. The script could have used a little more, as I said it was somewhat predictable. I would recommend it overall.

The first hour and a half is SOO BORING!! but the end was ok... It made everything make sense but why allow your audience to fall asleep before the movie gets good? I would wait to see it on DVD if i were you! I wish i did...
