Another solid performance by DiCaprio in a Alfred Hitchcock style of thriller. Scorsese does his usual good job here but truthfully I had the plot figured out about halfway through the movie. No spoilers here! If you like DiCaprio and you enjoy a "dark" thriller then you will enjoy this.

This movie was taunted as a "Beautiful Minds" suspense by friends. My view differs greatly. Were it not for the dynamic storm scenes, I would have drifted off entirely. The characters, although played well by an incredible supporting cast, were not developed into the credible supporting roles. DiCaprio's intense characterization of Edward Daniels fell short due to the lack of a cohesive story. The film was cinematically beautiful. The score was intelligent, rendering to the sanity of each moment. The casting was precise yet overburdened based on the film's focus. Overall entertainment factor is B+ with signficantly more expected from Scorcese. Worth a wait for the rental, folks.

I have to say this movie was great from begining till end. I finally feel as though I have a great movie to talk about. There have been some enjoyable films out there, but this one got my full undivided attention the entire time. I don't want to give the movie away, but there are some great twists to it.

This is one of the best movies. A mind-bending thriller that will keep you guessing. With so many twists and turns I am still lost (but in a goodway). Great for discussion, it allows you to draw your own conclusion. Great movie!

This is what movies should be like! No one even left to use the bathroom and this is a 2+hour movie! No fancy special effects of non-existent creatures or people. Just straight up suspense and thought provoking dialogue. The ending is left to your own interpretation and will make you talk about it for at least 20 minutes afterwards. Sir Ben Kingsley pretty much got himself a supporting oscar nod for this one.

Thought this movie was going to be too scary to watch, but it was just the kind of movie I like. Full of twists and turns, very suspenceful. This movie makes you think. The acting was great. Max Von Sydow is really creepy, the perfect role for him. Equally creepy is Michelle Williams. A good thriller!

I thought this movie was pretty good. It definitely holds your attention and is quite a mind bender. It reminded me of Memento in some ways. If you like movies that make you think and twist everything around, you will enjoy this one.

scorsese is my favorite director... and at times he really had my attention, but i think he lost sight of the point of the movie a few times. frankly, i'm still not really sure what he intended to convey in a few places as the direction was so unclear. it's hard for me to believe that this story was adapted from a novel since the movie seemed quite poorly thought through. still, however, it had moments of glory and i loved the authentic film noir feel which was beautifully executed through most of the film.

Is all I could think waiting for the final over-telegraphed twist of this droll movie. From opening with a terrible score always over~the~top of its associated scene, to a tattered web of dare I say intrigue of irrelevance. Made so as even if you don't catch all the land mine clues, the average person knows the outcome of the movie, before you get to the twist. Maybe if I didn't have to sit thru an extra 45 min tacked onto a 90 min film I'd have been more gracious. When you add on sequences for the sole point of dragging out what you think is suspense (which isn't if we know what going on) your just being annoying. I love Ben Kingsley & Max Von Sydow {who's part was non-existent, what a waste of his talent}, but NOT this film.

Shutter Island manages to break free from the plethora of banal movies that have hit theaters recently and holds its own among viewers. Great acting, Leo shines and Ben Kingsley gives an amazing performance as a supporting actor. Wonderful plot, execution and delivery were spot on. Definitely worth watching.

I really enjoyed seeing this novel come to the big screen. I read the book and it took me about 5 days to finish the book. The book keeps you on edge as you turn the pages and the film was no exception. I think in in order fully undertsand the concept of the film you need to pick up the book. Teddy Daniel's is wounded and has so much mental anguish. I think Leo DiCaprio did an amazing job with the character. the characeter jumped of f the pages for me. It was a great performance. I thouroughly enjoyed the movie. Martin Scorsese and Leo did a great job. I loved it.

I expected so much from Scorcese and DiCaprio and the rest of the cast and it didn't pan out. The movie was long, drawn out and the pay off was just kinda flat. You walk away thinking "Really that's it!". DiCaprio did a good job with the acting but it didn't make up for it. I want my 2 1/2 hrs of my life back. It is worth a rental but not sitting there for 2 1/2 hrs.

Very suspenseful and the ending leaves you hanging a bit. I have to see it again to put more of the pieces together. Definitely not as scary in a gory way as the previews made it look. If you like mystery thrillers, you'll like this!

It's been a while since a good thriller hit the theaters, and therefore it's a definite must see movie! Not many directors can pull off such an interesting thriller, which actually makes sense in the end and smoothly ties in all of the occurences together. The movie is a little gory so be prepared for disturbing scenes! Excellent acting and superb directing! It's a movie you will definitely enjoy!

I'm not that big of a fan of Leo Dicaprio, but he did an amazing job in this movie. The range of his emotions was so huge. Everyone in this movie did a stellar job. The story was also very good. I did not see the twist coming in the last 1/4 of the movie. In fact, the first 3/4 of the movie was so believable that I doubted that the last 1/4 could even be possible. I truly enjoyed this movie and I believe it takes two viewings to fully understand why the last 1/4 played out the way it did.

This movie was by far one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The trailer made it look like it was going to be one of those "keep you on the edge of your seat" movies. It was completely opposite. I'll admit it had great twists, but it was very slow and boring. There was nothing exciting about the movie at all...no action or anything. I think some parts could have been left out to cut down on the length of this long, slow, boring movie. I would never care to see it again.

This movie was a little slow in parts. It has more of a deliberate speed. There are scenes that you don't initially understand how they fit in with the story until much later near the end, but that's with any film. The scenary and score are beautiful. The entire story winds up to an incredible twist that I had trouble believing even at the end. This is an interesting movie that's different than the usual fare and will make you think.

Didn't see that coming... Often times I can see through the misdirections that are being thrown at the audience and figure out "the twist" before it is revealed, but it didn't happen this time. Very "Sixth Sense" kind of twist.

I really enjoyed this movie. My husband said he thought it was too complicated, and I read other reviews that said it was hard to follow, but I totally disagree. I found it intriguing and thought provoking. It wasn't overly complex since everything meant something and was important, even if you didn't realize it till later. Although I did anticipate one of the twists at the end, I did not anticipate the final twist, which was one of those "ohhhhhhh" moments. There are very few movies anymore which I really enjoy, but I definitely recommend this one.

The film was entertaining and thought provoking. The story built right up to the end. Not the horror flick my spouse thought it would be. I am not a Leonardo fan and once I got past the accent I settled into enjoy the total package. Nicely done
