We took three 9 year old boys and my 7 yr old daughter. They all loved it and were excited thru-out the whole movie. My daughter thought is was the best movie ever! (She's seen 5 of the 6 real movies) My husband were entertained too and we enjoyed the soundtrack and the very funny one-liners. With all the not so good kid movies out there-I have to give it a thumbs up for the whole family. Our only complaint was that it was too short!!! We can't wait for the series!!

Like other reviewers, I did not go in to the film expecting to be blown away. I was 8 when the original Star Wars ("A New Hope" to you younglings) was released and I have been a fan ever since. I even read most of the novels that were released continuing the stories of Luke, Leia and Han. "Clone Wars" clocking in at just over 90 minutes is FUN. It introduces new characters while explaining what we may have missed between Episodes 2 & 3 (I think). I'm not a purist, but there were times in the film where I thought things could have been handled differently, but YOU should see for yourself!

iv noticed that allot of the reviews on here are bashing the movie. but i for one liked it. so many CG movies now days are going to realism, but i think they wanted it to look more like a cartoon. granted the actors doing the voices could have put a little more emotion into the character. yes the story was off base from the rest the star wars realm, but i also think that the movie was aimed mor for kids as it is. but i do think that if some of the die hard Star Wars fans see for what it is and not what they want to be they might really like it. and i am a big Star wars fan.

As an adult Star Wars fan who has no children, I found this movie to be a little weak in comparison to other Star Wars movies. Parts of it felt more like a video game than a movie, and some aspects of the animation were not very well done (odd or unrealistic movements). On the other hand, if I think of it as a cartoon (which it was), I realize that the movie was well geared for children of today. I believe most children would love this movie, while most adult Star Wars fans may be somewhat disappointed.

Although I enjoyed the movie, as a classic fan, it just doesn't hold up. What I did find that I do like is that it's bringing in a whole new generation of fans. And while that's good, they should at some point really watch the OT and know its roots. I won't be seeing it in the theater again, and I hope the TV series is just as good if not better.

I think they settled when they made this movie, the book was great and rich full of emotional struggle and camaraderie, but instead they went and made a kid movie, nothing more.
Its more geared towards audiences of 14yr or younger.
And to be quite honest the cartoon mini series was more substantial then this, if you want to empty your head and check out mentally for two hours then go.

Having been a Star Wars fan since 1980, I never can seem to get enough. Unlike some, I enjoyed Star Wars: The Clone Wars. The animation was very well done, the characters didn't feel stiff like some of the most recent films and it expands on the storyline. I would recommend this to friends and family, especially if they are Star Wars fans. I plan on watching the series on TV with my family and enjoy seeing where the storyline goes.

I took my kids to see this movie, knowing that it was geared more towards kids, and also knowing that it was probably going to be a bit silly. I was surpised that it had actual depth to it, and very happy to see that it showed the clones to be competent, feeling, and capable heroes in their own right. Humanizing Jabba was hard for me to get into. Droids that can't count are a bit too silly for grownups, but every kid in the theater with us was laughing their head off. Ventriss and Obi Wan's duel was really, really good. If you've seen the Clone Wars cartoons from Cartoon Network, and liked those, you will like this. If you're coming to the movies wanting a sequel to Star Wars, you probably won't be satisfied.

When I heard about the Clone Wars movie I expected official reviews to be terrible; after all, critics seldom have anything good to say about a Lucas movie. I also expected some fans to dislike it because it isn't the Star Wars of their youth, but nothing can be that. This is Star Wars for a new generation. I took my sons to see this movie and they loved it. It is visually stunning. The battle scenes are amazing. The stylized look of the characters works. The new character, Asoka, brings an interesting dynamic to the series. My advice is to enjoy this movie on its own terms for what it is: a glimpse into a universe filled with gallant Jedi and evil villains. Do yourself a favor with some time spent a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars got at least one movie-goer interested in the upcoming TV series. It re-established the fun of the former Clone Wars TV series. I missed the fanfare and roll-up at the beginning, but I didn't expect them. I expected something Star Wars, but different. I got what I expected while still enjoying a big screen Star Wars experience. This clearly is not one of the canonical Star Wars movies and I don't believe it should be reviewed as such. Its great that it appeals to younger viewers- I can't wait to take my daughter to see it. This is the kind of Star Wars a family can share and I don't think that's a bad thing. I hope the TV series is as interesting and family friendly.

My boys loved this movie. My 6 year old loves Star Wars. If you are a true fan from the 70's you might not like this movie if you have high expectations.
Take it as a cartoon with great computer work with lots of fighting! I think it is just geared to kids to grow the market share in merchendising and give them a new taste of the Star Wars to come.

I am really disappointed to see so much critcism from the older Star Wars fans. They should remember how much they loved it as a kid. My son is 11, he is a huge Star Wars fanatic, and he loved the movie. He was able to fill in the gap with more details between the movies. The whole family really enjoyed the entire movie. The Battle Droids where hilarious. I thought it was perfect for the young fans and look forward to the TV series. PS Thanks George for the books for all ages too it has helped my son love to read.

I completely agree with other star wars fans that the short animated series on cartoon network was way better. But overall i did enjoy the movie and wouldnt mind watching it again on dvd. Only worth watching once in the theatre with family and friends that enjoy the star wars saga. If the action scenes and story lines (cutting out the cheesy lines) were like the small series on cartoon network, i think the movie would have kicked a**!!!

Terrible. For kids. Not a part of the Star Wars genre in my opinion. I mean, I know it's kicking off a cartoon series so I should have expected it. But I was SO disappointed. I wanted it to be more and it fell SO flat. Don't come expecting star wars, more like hanna barberra meets GI Joe or something. And what was up with that Rip Taylor Hutt? I mean really, whose idea was that? Pretty lame.

Anyone expecting Kurosawa-esque sci-fi will be disappointed. If you take this for what it is, a long after school cartoon, it's great.
I went with my 7 year-old god-daughter, her 12 year old sister, and an 8 year old boy. All the kids loved it.
I was entertained, it had a much more lighthearted and felt more like "Star Wars" than the prequels. The banter and characterization felt more like the classic movies. The animation was stiff in places and stunning in others.
The new characters are great. Especially Ahsoka (about time a tough female jedi got some screen time).

Very fun movie. Although I worry about continuity with existing, amazing Clone wars comics and novels, Dave Filoni, the director, seems very concerned about it and there are little nods to the EU in here. For example, Obi-Wan and Asajj already have a relationship. And drag queen hutts are pretty friggin awesome, it was hilarious and really cool. Don't forget Hutts change sexes, so this is nothing new, just cool to see on the big screen. The battles are intense and awesome, and this is a great start to a new chapter of the Clone Wars

I was 11 years old when Star Wars.Loved it. Loved Empire. The Ewoks in Jedi came across as an attempt to target a younger audience, which was fine with me. The violence in Revenge of the Sith made me feel more connected to the prequels than any other, and reminded me of how violent the original two movies really were. These are science fiction films, after all.
That being said, The Clone Wars was an unbeleivably enormous step back for the Star Wars universe and fanbase. Gone is John Williams music. I never realized how important the music was until it wasn't there. No viable plot. No peril. No characters to connect to. This was one of the worst CGI movies I have ever seen, and I've seen Hoodwinked!
No, I do not recommend this movie.

The art work is very stylized, and takes a little getting used to, but it worked for me. You have to remember that this movie is rated PG and is directed at the younger audience. The one thing this movie did do for me was show the plight of the clones. To most in the Republic, including the Chancelor, they are just droids, expendable, they do NOT get healed if too injured to continue. You should read the Republic Commando books to understand that plight of these men, and the movie did a great job of showing how many of them paid, with their lives, for a Republic that wasn't even worth fighting for anymore, it was so rotten and evil (kind of like in real life right now huh??) Not superb, but didn't suck either.

This is a child's movie and so I would suggest that it be seen with your children, if you have them, or not at all. It lacks substance to keep adults adequately entertained. I went with 10 children for a birthday party, they all loved it and no one was scared-- ages 6-11. The three adults agreed it's a snoozer.

About time we see Anakin as the hero he was to be remembered as. This story could not be told in the first 3 films.
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It wasn't perfect. But seriously, remember all the flaws in the originals? I was very glad to see Asajj Ventress brought back, and Ahsoka was great as Anakin's padawan. I know I will be watching the series. The animation was good and definitely unique and the action sequences were well done.

This movie is very good, but as all movies these days, it was too short. There is lots of action, some comedy and it's Star Wars, but it has you leaving the theatre asking "That's it, that's all, after all the hype from Lucas?!" My brother got my son hooked on star wars when he was two so for the last 4 years we have lived, breathed, eaten and slept star wars (thank goodness I was a fan before he was born or else I would be looney bin worthy!) This movie was the perfect set up for the cartoon series coming to tv. We loved it and even though he is only 6 he thought the droid "funnies" were great and he thought Zero the Hut was hilarious.
The story was good but a bit confusing as to when it actually occured in the time line. There were certain points where Obi Wan was battling Ventress that were very choppy and not at all linked properly and that was bit annoying expecially for a LucasFilms production. Overall we love it and would say to go see it for sure!
Yes, I recommend this movie.
