I really enjoyed this film. The first line of the movie instantly drew me in, the camera angles are great! The acting is spectacular. However, my only complaint is missing some of the lines because of the really thick accents. This is definitely a film I will get when it comes out of DVD though.

For a film as well made as this one (excellent acting, cinematography, etc), it is really baffling that the director failed to address audio quality. North country accents in the British Isles is sometimes hard for even Brits to follow let alone Americans - who have relatively "slow ears". Throw in a heavy Scottish brogue and the film is almost incomprehensible without subtitles. This lack of clarity coupled with the "slowness" of the film turns what should have been "dramatic tension" into near boredom. And yet, with the exception of this one major flaw, the film is really a fine adaptation of a truly disturbing novel.
