I have to say that I haven't read the book but my son has (age 9). I thought that the movie was a great action movie for kids. The storyline was easy to follow and the action was really good. Special effects were good as well, except when they show the humans next to the Gods. That needed work. My son, who has read the book, was disappointed that some of the good action scenes and characters were left out, but he was still very happy with the movie and ready for the next one.

Great movie with great effects & humor. A little different than the book, according to my 11 yr. son, but we both really enjoyed it. Probably a little scary for younger ones--glad I didn't take my 6 yr. old who couldn't handle Gremlins. Well worth seeing!

I enjoy the action & the special effects were good, but for me personally, I enjoy the underlying themes that were in the movie: father-son/parent-child relationship; seperation issues; who am I? Those types of things were fascinating for me bc while subtile they were there & made the action all the more real or reveleant to me.
Although I had figured out who was the real lightening thief, it was exciting to see it unfold. Besides I used to love the Greek Mythology so this was awesome to see a modern spin on ancient history!
It is a family film, something for all members of the family: dads, moms & children. Thanks!

I went to this movie with my son on the President's Day. My son loved the movie, although he said that some scenes were too scary for him. He is a 9-year old, but he has never seen or heard of some monsters from Greek mythology and I think this is why he found some scenes scary. I would tend to agree with him, but overall I think it was great movie filled with great characters and cool fights. I personally love the movies based on Greek mythology, especially if they have good actors there. I would strongly recommend this movie, but I want to say that it's not as good as Avatar. And I didn't expect it to be, because the target audience is different.

This movie is a disgrace to a fine series -- the devoted fans in the theatre with me were disappointed that the female characters were turned into seductive vixens rather than remaining smart and capable. Also the characters, who are supposed to be 12 and 13, are played by characters far too old to pull this off. Much of the cool mythological backstory is gone. Read the books instead.

The overall movie was good. I would have enjoyed it more had i not read the book. the basic premis of the book is what the movie is about. that percy is the main character and the gods think he stole the lighting bolt and war will rage if he doesnt return it and thats it. no dog in the underworld no battle with aires no magic cups and drink no mr. I thought this was a very good movie. The story is fascinating; it is educational about Greek mythology; and it was very entertaining. There were some sequences I thought were a little scary but my kids -- who are 8 and 9 -- did not seem to be bothered at all. They also loved the movie.

If anyone ever wanted to prove the point that sometimes the movie is nothing like the book, this would be that movie. It's a good romp through some Greek mythology, just like the novel but it's totally different. I would've liked to have seen Percy be a 12-year-old hero because kids don't get to see a lot of strong characters like that. However, Logan Lerman did a great job. It was fun.. definitely not for kids younger than 9 or 10.

That what this movie was for me. It was summer movie in the cold of winter. No big meessage some special effects. Just good fun which now a day is something we can use. Sure there were some holes in the story line and maybe it could have use a little more set-up with mythology. Other then those few minor point it was FUN.

Rosario is hot. The movie was okay. There were some holes in the plot, and I think, largely because it was a kids' movie that they should've created a 5-minute prologue of Greek methology... some way to adress the timeline for Chronos, his kids, the Gods and maybe even have one of the Gods come down to earth and hook up with a human and show the aftermath (minus anything that would not be kid appropriate). I was so happy to get out of the house because of the snow that I didn't really care how good or bad the movie was.

A visually stunning and action packed thrill ride through greek mythology. Percy Jackson delivers on all levels, and is fun for the whole family to enjoy. The new age actors really step up to the plate and the veterans do what they do best. A must see for all because you won't be disappointed.

The movie was awesome! It had a lot of action. It did a good job of following the book, but you didn't have to read the book to follow the movie. I thought it was epic. Can't wait to see it again and I'll be first in line to buy the DVD.

My son and I are huge fans of Percy Jackson and was kind of disapointed with some areas of the movie that didnt go with the books. we really liked How Grover blossomed in the movie, The actor did an awesome job. as for the Percy, he was great in a much older way. because Percy should only be a six grader not a sophmore. but over all we gave it a 4 out of 5
