I have not read the books so I did not know what to expect. I could tell there were some shortcuts put in to make the movie flow. The movie was great in that it did not overplay violence and sensuality like most movies these days. I would not recommend for under 12 though. Good story, cast, and visual effects!!

Starting with the movie, it was really enjoyable. The book, in the movie there were parts that weren't in the book but a lot of parts missing from the book wich is dissapointing when you wanted to see that parrticular part made in the movie but oh well. The movie should've been a little bit longer to show more details but good interpretation. If you didn't read the book you will certainly find the movie awesome. I rate this movie with 4 stars because I don't compare it with the book. I would recommend this movie for everyone even if they had read the book to just see how good and bad the interpretation could me. The story is great and overall nice movie, good acting and Bravo !

This movie starts out as a good idea. Not terribly original, but fun. A whole lot more could have been done with this movie, but it doesn't seem like a whole lot of effort was put into the actual story. Overall, it seemed rushed, awkward, and predictable. My two kids (ages 7&9) didn't seem to mind, and are too young to be sensitive to cliche', so they were actually quite entertained. I didn't fall asleep during any part of it myself. However, though it shares a director, it's no "Harry Potter".

As long as you don't expect a moral lesson or some kind of human understanding, this movie will be ok. I guess I personally need movies to hold some kind of deep meaning, but that may be much too high of an expectation. The movie title is detailed enough to seem interesting, but it's really not.. I found myself staring blankly at the screen as the predictable, cliche action scenes and effects flashed back and forth. The thing here is, if you find Greek mythology fascinating, or if you're looking for an eye-appealing movie just to pass the time, then this movie will be perfect for you. All in all, it's an ok action movie. Keeps you awake at least.

At first when I went to the movie, I wasn't expecting the quality of the effects, actors, and actress. The Movie was very well written. Pierce Brosnan was great as the centar know as cyraon. Uma was great as Medusa. The movie had everyone laughing in the theater. It was a modern version of the greek gods.

My son has read all of the books and was really looking forward to this movie. We took 7 10-year-old boys to this movie for my son's bday party and it did not disappoint. Lots of action, cool special effects. It was all a bit too loud for me, but that may have been a factor of where we sat or just my age. All the kids loved it and 2 were seeing it for the second time. Great movie!

The movie was simplistic in plot and action. The transitions in the plot line were very quick and very poorly executed. Acting was mediocre. I went to this with my 7 year old, and it was a good family movie. It was fast paced and did not feel 2 hours long. The characters were interesting to watch and the action was fun. As said in other reviews, there were some semi-scary parts where I had to hold my son's hand, but nothing over the top or excessively gory. The only problem I had with it is that the God's suspicion of Percy is never really justified or explained. Why pick him out of all the kids of the gods to suspect of theft? I went out and bought the book(yes I know it's vastly different). Now my son and I will get a more complete picture of the story. It's a fun Saturday afternoon trip to the theatre.

I took my 3 kids to this movie last night. They are 11, 7 and 3. We loved it! It kept them interested and involved. The only draw back is that I was unaware of the scariness of the mythical creatures and my 3 yr old son had a moment of a little worry but he got over it quickly with a quick reminder that it "wasn't real - just a story" which he gets. I haven't read the book but my 11 yr old enjoyed Rick Riordan's visit to his school in the past. Clean movie, no foul language and action. Good choice for parents and everyone can enjoy it. Well worth it.

Having never read the book (which I have no doubt is better as most are), therefore having nothing to compare the movie to, I have to say it is a very fun film. Nothing Oscar winning about it, but overall worth the money and time. As a fan of greek mythology, it was fun to see how they wove it into the story (I understand the book has even more) and the action and effects was impressive. Would definitely recommend, and looking forward to the next film.

This is an outstanding movie. Just what I go to the theater to see, something that takes me away from everyday life and puts me in a magical world full of action and lore. My eight year old simply loved it, he is versed in Greek Mythology so he actually understood what was happening. It is more of what our kids need today!
